    The Lakers season was bookended by games we choked away in 2012. The Christmas day collapse against the Bulls...and then this game, tie series in sight, and they couldn't finish. This is what separated MJ from everyone else. Give him a six point lead at his peak and he's not giving it up. Haters remember that aberration against Orlando when he rushed back in '95 BECAUSE it was the only time that happened.

      @@lvkh25_8 I understand that my brother but damn the NBA really had to choose my old ass Lakers that year huh? Just a bit bitter this was the last series I saw Kobe play and there's no doubt in my mind that the grind of constantly trying to play until June took a toll on his body. We had a chance to beat OKC in game 2 but choked in the last few minutes. Going back home down 0-2 was crucial enough but they had to give us a back to back set. Props to KD and a huge ass shot though, was downhill for us Laker fans shortly after.

    • @lvkh25_8
      @lvkh25_8 2 года назад +2

      @@jankarlo3798 OKC did have youth and time on their side, and it was kinda bound to happen with how the season was arranged , and yes I too do believe that season progressively did take a toll on Kobe and the aging Lakers squad and I understand it being bittersweet for Kobe and Lakers as that was the last real competitive season for Kobe but again LA didn’t really look the same either after Phil retired from coaching after the previous season, and OKC were bound and upcoming in the top heavy western conference with all their youth and athleticism which they used to their advantage in a crunched up season where only 67 games were played compared to the regular 82 game season

    • @jankarlo3798
      @jankarlo3798 2 года назад

      @@lvkh25_8 It's crazy cause this OKC team hasn't even peaked and it took a massive Metta World Elbow for us to even have a chance at beating them in the regular season. We had no match for either KD, Westbrook and Harden. Ibaka and Perkins negated our Twin Towers. They were a legitimate contender for years to come and we could all tell by the way they outran and outperformed LA. Trading D Fish at the deadline for Hill to make room for Sessions was a temporary fix, I can't believe some of us Laker fans really thought he was going to save us. We all saw how pivotal of a key Fisher was during that Thunder Finals run. It's just a shame how the Lakers championship roster quickly fell apart because management panicked at the peak of the Big 3 era. Trying to land Chris Paul was one thing, for it to be nixed is another but to end up trading the reigning Sixth Man of the Year in Odom at the end for a 2nd round pick was the beginning blow. Seeing Kobe take on OKC alone in game 5 without his original core group of guys (Odom, Fish, Sasha, Farmar, Josh, Luke Walton and Adam Morrison for crying out loud) was actually painful and even more sad now as we've mentioned knowing it was going to be his last playoff game ever. I remember in a post game interview after they lost to the Thunder Kobe said "We're not going anywhere, I'm not fading into the shadows" mentioning that they weren't going to be like the 1990 pistons that just disappeared. Man Kobe, I love your tenacity and drive but this was slowly the end. I know we reloaded for Nash and Howard and for a brief moment in time that 6th title seemed possible but oh man... that's a whole different damn story. I'm really upset at how the Lakers handled those last few years of his career, but certainly glad he got 5. RIP mamba
