    I think I'm going to shift focus maybe...I wanted an art business, but I also enjoy sewing and making things. People have bought the bags I carry because I carried them in public and made them myself. Maybe thats the way to go. I've sold more tote bags than art. 😅

      i definitely don't think there's anything wrong with branching out a little into other interests -- you never know until you give it a go 🥹✨

    That was quite insightful~! The part where you said you don't need a ton of listings to start resonated with me, because this is exactly the excuse I’ve been telling myself to not open one: "I don't have enough items yet" 😅but I guess you’re right, one listing is enough to already start! Thanks so much for sharing!✨

      you’re so welcome!! I think multiple listings helps with people finding you but definitely can get going with one and just add to it overtime since listing an item is such a low upfront cost 🧡

    How did you not get flagged for selling copyrighted images?

    • @jddesignonline
      @jddesignonline  Год назад +1

      I think potentially because they aren’t direct images, they’re my illustrations but also hard to know because harry potter is strictly enforced but others have items up also?? honestly so hard to know 🫣

    The Gilmore Girls are copyrighted. Good luck

      thank you 💭✨ yeah you've definitely got to be careful with fan-art / copyrighted material but there is quite a market for it on etsy, i think as long as you are making it your own you're okay for the most part -- thankfully so far anyway, those stickers have been up on my store since last year & so far no issues 😁😁

    im horrible at using the proper hashtags/titles/optimising things for sale. ive done the market research but obvs need to do more. i dont use etsy anymore because of the fees, and since most of my stuff is digital, gumroad looks like he best fit for me right now

    • @jddesignonline
      @jddesignonline  Год назад

      I totally understand, the fees are so high and I probably would too but the fact most of my sales come from etsy itself rather than direct traffic it’s the best option for me at present i think 🤔💭 how are you finding gumroad?

    How long do you wait before you start changing things up on your listings?

    • @jddesignonline
      @jddesignonline  Год назад +2

      it’s hard to know really; I usually wait a couple weeks to a month but you probably can tell within a week or so if you’re not getting any attention on your listings at all that something could be changed 🤔 I also try change one thing at a time, tags, description, main listing photo etc so you can more easily tell what made a difference ☁️✨

    Very interesting video, thanks for sharing. I'm putting a lot of effort in my shop since the beginning of 2023 and it goes in the right direction I think. But I really have to optimize my listing pictures (yours are amazing!!) and inform myself more about SEO. I know it's important, but also so boring (at least for me) 😅 My goal for this year is to reach 250 sales (95 to go). 🎉

      omgosh im so with you on how boring seo is to research, NOT a fav part of the journey for me at all 😂😂 and thank you!! I am super happy that you like my listing images - and good luck with your goal!! 95 to go by the end of the year sounds definitely more than doable 🫶🏼✨ hopefully you smash it !!

      I need to update my photos also. I’m selling supply items around $3 so I need to sell a lot to make any $. Especially my items not selling I think better photos would help.

    Not Etsy related question: Why do so many RUclipsrs sit on the floor next to their bed or next to the sofa instead of sitting on it? Just curious.

      hahah that is a very good question, for me my tripod is propped up against the window so that was where it sat best 😂😂

    Great video, thank you for this,
    About the point on Ads, you made, yes they can be a great tool to increase exposure to your shop but its just like the tags point you made, ie... if the ads are fine-tuned specifically they're mostly ineffective which can be costly. You can make them more effective by targeting but this in itself requires more time and research into how to work the algorithms better which are constantly changing, this would draw time from creating products.
    Since most of your sales are coming through internally via Etsy, that definetely justifies putting more time into the actual production and brand as you've stated and that will in turn make the business much more sustainable. Apologies for the long comment but In-short dont worry about the ads, organic (internal) traffic seems to be your main sales channel so more listing should lead to more sales and views just through etsy's internal algorythm.
    Best of luck

      ohh don't apologise, i love the long comments honestly -- & appreciate you so actively engaging in the video!! ☁️✨ i so agree with you about the ads, they almost seem just not quite worth the effort, i've seen them work well sometimes & then not in others, i mostly use them in super small doses but i think moving forward i may try not to at all just to see if there is any massive difference or not 🤔💭 but i do really appreciate the advice also; definitely need to try up my game with how many listings i have -- if only building notion templates was a wee bit faster 😂😂 again; thanks so much for your comment!! 💟
