Your videos are great. You do fantastic job breaking it down and not over complicating things. Thanks and keep up the great work.
Much appreciated 👊🏼
A well thought out jig, to very simply make dados that are parallel to each other. Magical. And somehow done without 15 minutes of wasted time talking about stuff we don't GARA about. How can this be on You Tube? Thanks Nick, well done.
Haha, thanks much
Thankyou Nick..
I have begun a 18 bay side by side storage rack ...my dado's needed to be @5 1/2"...your jig made it so simple to set up for my palm router...finished with 36 dado's in less than 1 hour....
Thanks again
That’s awesome to hear - you are most welcome
I am a fairly accomplished woodworker having trained, worked in shops and had my own although it is my hobby now. That said, I enjoy and learn from your videos (Jay Bates, too) especially the jigs. Simple, staight forward designs without over engineering. Thanks.
very cool to hear - glad you are enjoying them!
It's very cool if you to reply to all the comments, you are one of the few! Keep up the great work.
I try - a few slip through but I do my best - love the comment section - a lot of cool people! Thanks!
So simple and elegant.
Thanks - And the dado jig is pretty cool too :)
great video, and the best bit. ,NO ANNOYING MUSIC. brilliant thanks for posting
thanks much!
I love making jigs! Some times making the jig I need is more fun than making the project.
Nick that is bloody genius 😮.
Thanks - it’s been something I wanted to to make work for a while
Simple and brilliant. Thanks Nick!
Much appreciated - take care ✌🏼
Perfect timing to see this video. I am needing to do exactly what you did. This will save me a lot of time. Thanks.
no problem - glad you found it helpful
Nick is one heck of a smart cookie. _Thank you, Nick_
My pleasure, I try to have my moments - ✌🏼
Speechless.... Awesome.. Thanks for sharing.. 👍
Glad you liked it
Cool - basically the same idea as the common box joint jig, but I’ve never seen it used for this before. Good idea.
Thanks
Nice Jiggle I have plenty of scraps laying around I'm going to make one. I enjoy watching your videos you seem to be a little on the crazy side. Which is good you're not boring.
haha - thanks John, and to think I "tame it down" for the videos!
Very, VERY good job Nick!
Thanks Don!
I was just about to ask why on earth you needed so many repeatable dados, and go through the trouble of making the jig, when you answered my question at the end. Looks like a cool organizer. If I ever need to make lots of dados like that I'll take the time to make the jig, thanks.
Hope to have the organizer done sooner than later - it should be pretty awesome!
Great job Nick! Things are so much better when they are kept simple. Yes, would love to see you elaborate on this idea.
Thanks - something I want to get back to for sure
Good laughs at the end too!
I gotta say dude. Well done video. Good teaching ability, concise, well spoken. I just learned a good trick for my next project - a DVD shelf unit.
Glad you could pick up a technique - let me know how the shelf goes
Excellent ideas from cost effective left overs. Doesn’t come any cheaper than that. Great job.
Thanks 👊🏻
Nice I am currently trying to cut dado grooves for a sand paper slots thank you this will hell out tremendously
Awesome - let me know how it woks out for you
Thx so much 4 making this vid. Good luck on ur project.
This jig produced a great result, and the future adjustable one sounds very useful.
thanks much!
Love that organizer. Work great for my vinyl
Awesome to hear
Very useful. I’m planning a tall bookcase and this jig will save me a lot of time. Thanks for sharing!
Glad you found it useful - works like a charm
Excellent simple, no bells and whistles and good commons sense makes perfect.
thanks for posting !…
thanks - yeah I really love how it came out - hopefully I can design another in the future to be adjustable
Thank you! I spent an hour trying to find a video with this exact solution.
Awesome - glad I could help
I spent a couple of days 😬
Very cool technique Nick I'll definitely be using this!
Awesome - glad I could help
Great invention.
Thanks much 👊🏻
Man, I just bought the Wood River Guide Rail System from Woodcraft today. Glad I didn't open it yet. Yup, it's going back and I'm doing it this way! Thx Bud!
Very cool - glad I could help!
Hahahaha..!
Not only are you good with your plans, by a pleasant dude to whatch working.
Thanx big guy... 👍
thanks!!
I have been looking for a video on how to make a jig exactly like this for months. Thank you, Nick great video!
impeccable timing then!
I built one to make grooves in Bat houses....so much simpler than the setup I previously used.
so cool to hear!
Much appreciated. A very simple & easy explanation. Very helpful I must say.
Awesome, I’m glad you found it useful
Hi Nick. This tutorial is perfect for what I'm needing to do! I'm needing to cut many of evenly spaced dados. And I don't have a large router table so this is great. Many thanks!
perfect - glad i could help
Thanks for taking the time to share this great idea.... well done...
Thanks much - glad you found it useful
*You've given me a great idea by simply using the long level without using any jigs, lol thanks man*
awesome - glad you could pick something up!
*King Of Kings*
Great video
Very clever and useful jig. Thanks for sharing. The video is also very, very well done. Concise and clear, easy to understand and entertaining. Great job.
thanks - it means a lot to me to hear what I'm doing is being enjoyed by people - I appreciate the comment!
Hey Nick, I was watching a dado video, and I remember this one you built, and I'm going to modify my version to screw the base to my router, then have it run in a channel on a piece of plywood so I can rout dadoes across ripped down 2x4's without my router "wandering" along the highway in the moonlight 😄
very cool - let me know how it goes!
Short, yet very informative. Subscribed
Glad to have ya here
Great how-to and great end product. Thank you
Thanks for checking it out
I'm building a set of drawers at the moment and was wondering about the main body. My problem is now solved. Thank you.
You’re welcome - glad you found it useful
That's too cool! And timely too. This will work perfectly on an upcoming shop project.
awesome - I'm normally not so timely, lol
I'm totally psyched. Can't wait 2 try this out tomorrow. I am a newbie, and I really want 2 set up my dovetail matchfit work top so clamping things down won't b such a hassle. Good luck with ur project. Keeping my shop from being messy seems like a full time job. 1st u have 2 have a place 4 everything, then everything n it's place. :D
How did it go?
Very smart! wish I saw this 2 days ago!
Now you can on the next one ✌🏼
Nice jig. quick and simple
thanks Craig!
Can't wait to see your adjustable jig Nick!
thanks - don't know when it'll be but it should be cool
I am so envious of your talent.
Practice and I'm always learning
Excellent production on you videos. great lighting and camera work and explanations. A pleasure to watch.
Thanks - I try to keep them clean - cleaner than my shop anyway
We just tried to make evenly spaced dados with our (new) router--and my first spice rack isn't going to be perfect. But my husband is planning on making something like your planned storage setup, and we'll try the jig idea out for that!
Now I'm off to go visit your website! Thanks!
you'll have to let me know how it goes!
Mind blown on these methods. Thanks for sharing!
Thanks dude, glad you liked it!
Great jig. Very creative and simple... Usually the best ones are!
I agree, thanks man!
Thanks man! Very easy to watch.
Awesome - glad you liked it
Awesome jig. Adjustable is better, not only for dadoe width but also the variation in sheet thickness as well
Thanks!
Love the table saw sled
thanks!
Hey Nick, love the jig! Think I'm going to do the same becaude.... Time to build some shelves andclean up the garage.... Tip? Maybe add a spot on the jig you can add a shop vac hose so you don't have to stop and clean out every spot. May be easy or I may be talking crazy talk...
thank you - I talked about the dust in the podcast - mostly wanted to be able to show it in video better but I might be cutting a hole in the back of the base for DC in the future
GREAT video Nick. If I had a 40 bin organizer, I would have to have an Excel Spreadsheet to tell me where all my stuff is.
I like the jig. Simple to make YET works like a charm. Good Job!!
haha - I was just talking to a buddy the other day about knowing where things are in our shops and when we move stuff how long it takes us to remember that we moved it - that cabinet will be a good memory test for me
Oooo. That's a great idea! I am getting ready to need to make a bunch of dados like that myself I think... I will definitely be borrowing this idea! Cheers!
very cool, thanks!
What a great idea. That’s really useful thanks
No problem - glad you liked it
Very good presentation!
My pleasure I’m glad you enjoyed it
The jig is awesome but I really like your tip on making the first dado cut. I never thought of drilling two guide holes and using the router itself to set the straight edge guide. Thanks!
Thanks - glad you could pick up something to help you out
Cant wait to see that big monster storage
You and I both - hoping to find time in the next couple weeks to get working on it
Wow! Great timing. I just measured my Harbor. Freight storage containers yesterday, thinking to make a bin tower. Great jig. Thanks.
great - I am hoping to have that video out in a week or two
Awesome jig, I like how it can cut any length and yet remain small.
Perfect for repeat, evenly spaced, and parallel cuts. I will look to see if the adjustable version is around, but either way, it's easy and quick to make so it wouldn't hurt to have different ones for different needs. 👍
Oh, and the pre-drilling holes to align the router advise was also very helpful.
Ok, that was rather cool! Thanks for the tip on squaring up the base to the runner. Very slick! Thanks for sharing!
thanks Kevin - glad you could get something from it!
Nick, thanks for the great tutorials, I have been trying to find an easy to listen to wood worker and you are it. I’m sold as a subscriber!
You may be in for a bumpy ride then - I changed the format slightly - check out my most recent video
Nice jig! Can't wait to see the monster organizer
thanks John, me too - was working on it the other day and I'm super pumped!
very cool I learned two methods. love the predrill holes to line up router fence idea. And simple but effective jigs are the best. thanks for sharing.
so cool to hear you picked up a couple things - makes what I am doing so worthwhile!
+Nick Ferry Def brother. can't wait to see your next video.
Very nice, I'll have one of these by the end of the week.
let me know how it goes!
Nice work dude, keep it coming.
thanks man!
Sometimes when watching woodworking RUclips videos I am picking my jaw up off the floor. This was one of those times. Nice jig.
+David Hale wow, thanks man, glad you liked it!
The adjustable template is a good idea... I'm just just going to make one for each size ( kinds like a set of wrenches) mark them and put them on a hook..good vid..you have a new subscriber 👍☺️
Not a bad idea - glad to have you here!
Good stuff, new subscriber. When you think your shop is a mess and you can’t move around let me know, I’ll FaceTime you and let you see my mess. Good lord I need more room. I just started on a French cleat wall and hoping that will give me some relief. Thanks for the video.
Lol - my pleasure
Very inventive Nick i always enjoy watching you and also learn something every-time
Thanks - glad to hear that!
Excellent jig. Maybe one way to make your jig adjustable is to use threaded inserts to screw in the runner, instead of gluing it. This way you can move the runner to different positions on the jig. I thank you for this cool idea.
Thanks much - that’s along the lines of what I had planned
@@NickFerry great minds think alike. HA!
I got a feeling I'm going to be binge watching some Nick Ferry.
haha - get some popcorn first - here is one of my faves - ruclips.net/video/vfyLayWU7ic/видео.html - if you like them consider sharing them on social media - helps a ton - glad to have you here!
