I pretty much love Sigourney Weaver's fashion in this movie. She looks like Rita Hayworth from the 1946 Noir movie, Gilda, in that black dress she wore later in the movie
Can't believe Sigourney didn't at least get a Golden Globe nomination for her great performance in this film. She deserved a nom in the Musical or Comedy category. She was robbed yet again.
One of our very top favorite movies in this household! i've had to have seen it at least 15 times at this point! The story-line, the cast, the sets, the dialogue, and that fantastic score! One of the best comedies ever made, in my humble opinion!
Imagine rocking up at some outta the way dive in Siberia and finding Gene Hackman at a table being being mesmerised by a sultry Sigourney Weaver belting out a Beatles melody.
Well, it's 2021 and I'm here. With her. And wondering if I'm alone in this journey of admiring Sigourney's talents. Never heard of this film Just a fan of hers.
@@banjopink4409 What are you talking about, Sigourney Weaver has been a movie legend ever since the Alien movies. She hasn't done much since, I'll admit.
Jennifer Love Hewitt was the surprise package of the movie. The scene stealer. Weaver was good and it had a smashing cameo from Gene Hackman but Love Hewitt stole the show. I guess she did act in a few good movies other than I know what you did last summer.
For those who are wondering as I was, this clip is from the movie Heartbreakers that was released in 2001. From Wikipedia: Production The film was set in Palm Beach, Florida. Filming started in and around Los Angeles in late April 2000. By June 2000, filming moved to South Florida for sequences shot in Palm Beach, Miami and Florida Keys. Locations included The Breakers, The Glades, and Worth Avenue.[3] According to the DVD commentary by director David Mirkin, only a few external shots were actually shot in Palm Beach, with the rest utilizing Los Angeles area locations as stand-ins. The film contains several references to The Beatles, including Sigourney Weaver singing a Russian folk version of "Back in the U.S.S.R." and the use of John Lennon's "Oh My Love" in several key scenes.
Hi, let me ask a question. I am Belorussian and my English is far from being fluent. But hearing this song I thought that Sogourney imitated Russian accent in English and did it very well. Or am I wrong and she used normal English?
I didn't know she knew how to sing and with a Russian accent on top of it. She sounded great and funny at the same time. This was a fine cover. Thanx for posting this.
You might like Minnie Driver singing "Stand By Your Man" in the James Bond movie "Goldeneye". She (deliberately) sings off-key, out of tempo, and with a Russian accent. The clip is here on YT.
This is everything! Shes a legend! So talented...I love every movie I’ve ever seen her in. I’m not usually a fan of sci-fi movies either but one of my favorite movies ever is the first ghostbusters movie that she was in.
Wow, so the ad YT placed before this is a Fender guitar one featuring Lindsay Buckingham performing Never Going Back Again solo. So insanely good. The subtitles read “pensive guitar” during all the instrumental parts. Should read “bewilderingly beautiful”. Might be the only ad I’ve not clicked past the split second I could.
Fun Fact: Before Sigourney was in the movies, she was a model. When they were casting for ALIEN, they decided they wanted relatively unknown actors. She got called in for an audition. She was late for the audition because she was stuck on a photoshoot. She showed up to the audition in what she was wearing for the photoshoot - which was thigh-high, high-heeled boots, and black leather mini skirt. The reason she got the role was because of her no nonsense, professional approach to this rather awkward situation. It mirrored the character of Ripley perfectly. They were pissed, and she wasn't having it. HIRED
It's very funny and all of the principals have great chemistry together. I'd warn that Gene Hackman steals almost every scene he's in, but you knew that already, I'm sure.
Weaver of sensuality! Mmmmm. Alien's alluring radiant Ripley, Ghostbusters' glamorously delightful Dana, Galaxy Quest's gorgeous Queen tantalizing Tawny, now a va va va voom! velvet on satin voiced vocalist herein. Beautiful to the eyes and to the ears.
@norman smithers Duuuuude, you are barking up the wrong dead horse. USA would have sent them to the corner to suck a thumb. Still would and China for a some fun after lunch; a clean slate sort of follow through. Shrug that the whole world would be dark for a bit.
