They're lacking in some areas 1. They should just be keyless entry and push button start 2. Led head lamps, illuminated door sills should be standard 3. Infotainment is out dated, needs to ditche the cd player have android auto and Apple car play included as well as a backup camera as standard. 4. Premium stereo should he standard 5. Steering wheel with infotainment controls 6. Sports seats that are reclining as an option... My gripes are that it's meant to be a street car you can take to the race track I can understand these things missing on a gt4rs however currently a gts 4.0 is a far better deal and you get way more for less money. Other than those small things where I think porsche is both lacking and Nicole and diming the 718 gt4 is essentially my favorite sports car.

Look at listed prices currently and check back in with me in 4 years. Get whichever one makes you happy and don't do it because you're regurgitating someone else's opinion.
Hello. GT4 has the best chassis ... steering feel ... gearbox ... at this price level. Full bucket seats are very uncomfortable. They are not for every body. To solve this problem, Porsche recently brought the 3D-printed bodyform full-bucket seat. I would choose the standard seats and the pdk box, which is much superior to the manual one. There are many very interesting sports cars, but for me GT4 is my dream car. Good luck

Own a Porsche Spyder - I love it, been a 987 it has hydraulic steering which is more feelsome than the 981/718 generation and the 987 Spyder is considerably lighter! I have a Lotus Emira on order and cannot wait, that will truly be the best of all the modern cars for feel considering its still got a hydraulic rack, manual and glorious V6 sound track and cost even less!
My long term dream will be to own a GT4, the purity of that naturally aspirated engine is testament to engineering craftsmanship. I lust after the Cayman S 981, as a mare mortal it will be at the detriment of some stock and share ISA so I have to wait patiently until it is financially right. Watching Stef may be the closest I will ever get to owning GT4 without upsetting my financial plans. I really lust after the Cayman GT 4 as I don’t like turbocharged cars, I will rather keep my straight six e86. Thanks Stef for bringing this spectacular piece of automotive marvel to my screen.

So how does this compare to the TT RS? I'm contemplating the GTS 4.0/2.5 vs TT RS or wait for the Lotus Emira reviews. The TT seems to be the most affordable for the spec preowned and I'm sure they will be cheaper in a couple of years as well. I don't think the GT4 offers enough on the uk roads over the GTS and I won't be on the track.
TTRS is a fantastic car to drive. It is super clinical and great all year round. I would take the GT4/S. but each person has their own views and financial situation to work through. There’s a 50k difference between a TTRS and this GT4 so quite a hike

They are chalk and cheese. The GT4 stands proud among proper sports cars. The TTRS is a warmed-over coupe with a cool engine. I thought my S4 was amazing, until I bought a used 911 with less power and many more years under its belt. Only then, did I realize just how utterly crap the Audi felt, on a twisty road.
they are completly different car, i have a 718 spyder pdk in order (will come in june), also have a TTS on big turbo (550hp) with kw suspension etd.. car is fanatstic like a daily car, and multimedia is nothing close to old porsches ones. If u wanna keep car stock and like track days - for sure u will go for gt4, if u wanna have car for great tuning potential and daily driver - u need go to TTRS

Every single reviewer "complains" about the long gears. You said it "Perfectly Balanced, Arguably one of the best performance sports cars you can buy, it sounds phenomenal, the power delivery... phenomenal, the handling... it's phenomenal... all round package, is there a better sports car for the money? Only if you’ve got plenty of money to use it on track, gearing is so tall you’re done in 2nd on the road - so despite it being a great shift, you don’t get to do it much!

You say why do we lust for this car, and you're right a lot of people do but in all honesty way more people want a GT3 far more than a GT4. GT4 hasn't even got a proper GT department engine (now rectified in the RS version)
A Spyder in manual for a daily driver with regular sports seats and usual creature comforts is perfect if roads are good. Price new is similar as some used but newer Porsche Turbos, so speed and price are not a big deal. Manual gearing maybe tall but very useable for DD. Shift earlier. Really don’t need a GT3 for DD. All cars are getting too fast in my opinion and mostly driven by dangerous morons

This car is missing a few things that should be base options. Infotainment should be in full at this point led headlights should be standard push button start should be a thing. They should have premium stereo from the factory (as this car is marketed as a daily sports car) and above all els the 500hp that's now where the new model is in essentially the same motor that's been around since the beginning should have been there all along. So 500 for the gt4 and 550 for the gt4rs The rs should have a 50hp bump and the extra 1k rpm to 9k instead of 8. Do all of this and it will be the perfect spring summer and fall daily honestly like the car if you don't need passanger space or what ever you're just going to hop in and go where you gotta go. 500hp 3200lbs should put it in the low 11s naturally aspirated all of the creature comforts perfect daily especially if it doesn't have rod bearing issues or something like the e9x m3 or older v10 m5s had. Other than basic matinence the car should remain reliable as hell
I drove the 981 gt4 and it was horrendous 😂 since everyone goes on about how good porche is I had to drive one, the clutch was that heavy when I got back in my car 15 mins later it felt as light as a feather, the driving position with the bucket seats awful feels so unnatural, and getting out of it it’s impossible not to look like a tit 😂, I know you have read different seen different on RUclips drive one and see for your self, it certainly wasn’t what I was expecting but it certainly scratched the itch Iv gone right off porche now, the 718 might be different but since it’s the ultimate driving machine by all accounts I’m guessing it’s in its nature to feel unnatural 🤷🏼♂️😂 I’m in no rush to drive another that’s for sure
Launch control... 4WD over RWD... PDK over a gearbox with a CLUTCH... For guys like this, driving is all about SPEED, not CONTROL. The car is essentially an amusement park ride, with excitement at the end of a button.
Definitely not a daily driver. This car isn't for someone who lives in a city with bad roads and constant road construction like Montréal. After about 10 - 15 mins driving you'd better have a chiropractor on speed dial. For this kind of money you can buy a used 2016 Spyder and have a car that's easier to drive and change left over to buy your grocery getter. Personally I would buy a faster car....If I'm spending this kind of money, I want to hear more pops and bangs.
@@munnsey I put 20,000M on my GT4......the 6 speed is pure joy, and if you don't feel like paying as much attention to the revs, you can auto blip, if you want to practice your down shifts, turn it off, same goes with the suspension, fair amount of character change with the press of buttons. The clutches are a bit weak on the 718 GT4 as they run a similar setup to the previous model. They are prone to glazing the clutch due to the amount of Hp/Tq the 4L produces. Some will say it's driver error, I say it's an inadequate design.

@@StefABtv fair enough. But I get the feeling that all Porsche buyers really want a 911 but for whatever reasons (lifestyle, budget etc) they choose the next best thing that fits their needs. We just bought our first 911 (992 C2S) and originally planned for a Caymen GTS. When it became crunch time we realized it really was the 911 we wanted. Took a while to get it but certainly worth the wait and cost.

The 911 at this point is now a 2 door Panamera, but I’m still excited for the delivery of our 911 gt3 (but less so than for our turbo gt). Nice job with that review. I own a 718 GT4 with PDK. This car IMO is the most enjoyable sports car I have ever owned. And I have owned three 911’s.

The best handling would be the A110, which is still semi practical fun and cheap to run

Only if you’ve got plenty of money to use it on track, gearing is so tall you’re done in 2nd on the road - so despite it being a great shift, you don’t get to do it much!
My fun car hits the limiter in 2nd gear at 120km/h which means on twisty roads I can and I often do drive it like a go cart.

Manual for me. Once rolling the performance is very similar. Infact 100-200kph the manual is slightly quicker.
