@@DocMitchell69 I have owned an Eotech Unity setup for years and am by no means soft on it, how in the fuck did you manage to snap enough Unity mounts to consider it as an easy thing to do?
Yeah. It’ll make pretty straight competition for the Unity stuff when you look at the cost for the T-2 fast mount and flip to center magnifier mount together, you’re pretty much in the same price point.
The only problem is that I don't mind if the magnifier mount is a bit more expensive, since I only need one. But if the red dot portion happens to be $300 or not for individual sale, then this will add up across a few rifles.
It looks like getting the eye relief for the magnifier right could come at the cost of moving the red dot out of your preferred position. Not a deal breaker by any means, just means there's still no free lunch. That being said, this could be easily resolved if spuhr just sells yokes of varying lengths
I just got a Brownells BRN-4 416 upper and had intended to put my Unity Fast setup on it. Since the 416 is heavier than a regular AR, gonna switch out the Fast for this.
I run a Unity set and my only complaint is that it is heavy. I am pretty excited about this because of how streamlined and light this is. I will def consider this for my next setup.
Got mine today. About to cut the magnifier rubber to fit it in the yoke now. It's all going on my SIG 551 SWAT with a CSR Precision adapter and B&T MBT stock, and a B&T Print-X SRBS Inconel suppressor and HUB adapter. Gucci Gun status achieved. Just need a light/laser.
This is so cool. Saving the weight of a separate mount for the magnifier. Mile high offers 10% off. The 2.25" is out of stock. The 2..91 is on pre-order. thats the one I want fpr NODs.
The major issue with this is that it forces the magnifier and red dot to be right next to each other. The ideal setup for a red dot + magnifier is for the dot to be as far forward as possible (the optic body takes up less of your FOV), and the magnifier to be as far back as possible (since most magnifiers have terribly short eye relief).
This is like a Unity fast with an FTC magnifier mount and a skiff laser mount but in a very small footprint and with a great aftermarket potential. Any gun that has 6 slots worth of picatinny can now have a reddot a magnifier and an IR laser and I don't even care how stupid it would look on some guns if it works. Like old guns or PDW-s One optic mount to rule them all.
Great way of thinking outside the box. I’m likening these new mount ideas lately. I’m shopping for Aimpoint H1 micro sights. Looks like it no longer made. T1 too expensive, so I’m buying Acro Sights for my PCCs
cool setup, I own a micro and a 3x mag, my only problem with this product is that I run the two pieces farther apart than this allows, with the t2 at the front of my aug's top rail, and the mag towards the rear
This is actually alot of a better design then the unity. The magnifier actually gets completely out of the way of the optic when its in the down position. It also appears to be cheaper and maybee even lighter.
The thing is you better flip that magnifier to the side and kind of get it out of the way of your charging handle if you're running an arch if you got it so far back and you flip to the left side and you're trying to do some quick maneuvers malfunction drills it's kind of in the way. So just want to push it up as far as you can on the upper receiver. Which ain't too big of a deal if you got a good charging handle like a radiant or something cuz I can run mine one finger all day. But just a note when that magnifier is flipped to the side it will kind of get in the way of the charging handle I wish they would make it to where it could flip to the right side
@joelerk6298 honestly still too much. I would've like more info. Presumably this is at least 2 inches tall since it's flip down center. The style is really cool but the price is asinine.
I've tried a couple of different magnifier mounts, and as a lefty they always involve a compromise. This looks like it would work for me. Don't think I can justify spending $400 on the marginal gain though, even if the device is objectively worth it. For $200 it would be a no-brainer.
@@DinoNucci wasn’t the old mount like $800 so the new one is cheaper. And he said it doesn’t come with the forward rail and the backup irons, was curious if you can purchase them separately since he says they just bolt on Edit: oops, I thought this was like the BAM mount. It’s different, it’s just a all in one flip magnifier mount
Problem with the red dot and magnifiers being attached like this is you cannot set your red dot as far forwards as you would want, then separately mount your magnifier for proper eye relief. You either put the dot further back than you prefer, or you mount your dot where you want it but then struggle to use magnifier. Not ideal.
Sphur is actually a legit mount manufacturer and been in the business for decades. They also give you the mount and the magnifier piece for around 400 bucks.
Wow. That's clever. I imagine there will be a cornucopia of copies and variations of that quite soon. If Primary arms can do something like this with their SLX sight and magnifiers, I'll kit out all my rifles with that.
Doesn't this also means the magnifier stays in line with center of gravity even when flipped out? I want it for airsoft but doubt they do it and it just feels so patented
Practically none of those airsoft mounts are licensed. Those that are will generally be worse than the IP theft mounts because they'll require certain changes to be made to make them visually distinct from the original products, and those changes are typically for the worse. All that said, if the airsoft scene starts to get a hardon for this mount, there'll be a copy sold by one of the various east-asian distributors.
this falls under the "i can't believe no one's done this before" category

Is your magnifier not out of the way of your optic? Genuinely curious I’m not being sarcastic because that could be a QC issue
It might not be a military contract but can we get the same arrangement for Eotech, please?
very cool ideas
Dumb question but the magnifier has to be removed to use the BUIS? And also, the BUIS won't work with a laser on the picatinny diving board?
The thing is you better flip that magnifier to the side and kind of get it out of the way of your charging handle if you're running an arch if you got it so far back and you flip to the left side and you're trying to do some quick maneuvers malfunction drills it's kind of in the way.
