    This was requested by a commenter on my Civ 6 video of the same namesake! Thanks for the suggestion, and keep 'em coming! I always take your feedback into account when I'm researching and planning content.

      Here's an idea, make a video about the different passives that come with the 7 affinities and how they can be useful

    The first 10 turns are so important. Makes you wonder how we ever made it past the Neolithic as a species :D

    I liked this a lot. I’m on the upswing again in my love-hate relationship with Humankind so I’m thinking I need to relearn the basics. Drives me crazy when I think I’m doing well only to discover and AI player having a runaway on another continent. 🤪

    This is important part of the game, wish you went over more rerolls and different encounters. You definitely covered basics of separating units and speculating best move points and how to explore most effectively. Want more on dialog options for ALL Neolithic possibilities! when to encounter what enemies, more information in 1 and 2 unit strategies and when to retreat or when to defend. Maybe some notes on early influence building

    I try to grab my first two territories quite far apart from each other because of influence cost mechanics. These two should be my first two cities and central to the other territories I will attach to them so i plan their location carefully. Getting two cities ASAP is also best way to generate influence and quickly grow them to 3 territory cities each at the lowest influence cost.

    • @JumboPixel
      @JumboPixel  2 года назад +2

      That’s a really fun strategy! And I agree, it can be optimal. Although on higher difficulties having your cities far apart can be pretty risky!

    • @Alastor255
      @Alastor255 2 года назад

      problem with that is that the second outpost you want to convert into a city will cost you a lot of influence while having a second and third outpost attach to your capital faster will help you a lot. Plus by the time you can get your second city, I usually capture a barbarian city

    • @ClavisRa
      @ClavisRa 2 года назад +1

      @@Alastor255 My strategy is the most influence efficient way have a two city start covering a lot of territory both in prime locations. You can get both to three territories quickly then capture a developed AI captial for #3. Second city massively improves your influence generation.

    What are your world settings for this particular playthrough? I rarely see such interesting geography especially at a starting location.

      Sorry I’m not sure! But try ‘chaotic’ settings where you can (things like continent form, etc)

    I still haven’t given up on Humankind, despite my comment on your Civ6 vid, so this was very helpful too thx! I will go back and watch some of your other guides. Is it still better to manually play out early battles compared to auto resolve?

    • @JumboPixel
      @JumboPixel  2 года назад +1

      Awesome!
      If you’re fighting a deer with a full health unit it’s usually safe to auto resolve. Mammoths or AI opponents will need to be outnumbered if you want to auto-resolve, and you could take extra losses

    I keep having the problem that I just can't find anywhere near enough curiosities. I'll explore as much as I can, split my tribes to cover as much ground as possible and I'll find maybe one ever 2-3 turns. Then if I go Bantu, for example, and try to use their nomad mechanic it seems the game spawns even fewer...

  • @lordgrim6732
    @lordgrim6732 Год назад

    Wouldn't placing an outpost on good tile as fast as possible the better move? You could get population that way and make additional scouts.

    • @cognitiveinstinct2929
      @cognitiveinstinct2929 Год назад

      No. In humankind you want to settle near luxury resources and high yield land more than you want those turns of growth. Since influence is the main bottleneck to expanding and you don't start getting good influence from your settlements until later.

  • @Blacksheep-uy3qv

    Hey just found your channel! Going to be watching a bunch of humankind video because I'm in a pickel. I'm Poland and I'm fighting the mongels.
    They already took one nation out so I wanted to attack while they were already fighting other nations. I figured that was fine but now I'm having hordes of lv 2 cav crushing my armies. Even armies that have more advanced cav.
    Do I just get a white peace and try to take them on later? This is only my second game so I didn't know they could get cav for influence. So I'm assuming they'll out produce me so peace is the best option?

    • @JumboPixel
      @JumboPixel  2 года назад +2

      Yeah the white peace might be the best option for you! Take the gold hit, recover the economy, and go after them later next era (assuming normal speed)
      Alternatively you could take your chances, if your cities are wide enough (maybe 4/5 districts wide) to stand inside of safely and hide from ranged fire, and hold. Horses can’t get over walls after all!

    • @Blacksheep-uy3qv
      @Blacksheep-uy3qv 2 года назад +1

      @@JumboPixel sadly my cities as well as the mongels cities are only about 6-8 tiles with walls. Easy enough for him to fire in. I won the first two battles soundly but he just came back with to many.
      My biggest regret is I lost an alliance because of it so I might have to fight them off next.

    With the updates to the game so far have the obvious choices for ancient era cultures changed at all?

    • @JumboPixel
      @JumboPixel  2 года назад +1

      Expansionist cultures are much better now. And the new one (Bantu) is very different from the rest of the cultures, as it kind of mimics and extends the Neolithic era.
      Egypt still likely the best. I personally don’t really play it much though, as I think most of the ancient era cultures are actually pretty viable.
