Almost exactly one year after I first experienced the Cadillac CT4-V Blackwing, I had another chance to spend a week living with one. Within the first 5 minutes of being back in the car I remembered how much I liked this car. A fantastic manual transmission, nimble chassis, solid powertrain, magnetic ride suspension...this car checks all the boxes for a small luxury sports sedan. Without a single doubt in my mind, I would choose this car over a G80 BMW M3. We enjoyed the car in the dry, in the snow (proving again that RWD with winter tires is fine), put some friends in the car for a trip downtown and more! About halfway through the week with the Blackwing, I found myself on the configurator, which is always a good sign. But first...I should probably also get some time in the bigger brother CT5-V Blackwing too! Enjoy this vlog!!

Small Blackwing badge added to rear decklid under V logo. Late 2023 builds got them. Any BW owners can get them by contacting Cadillac with last 8 of VIN. Unfortunately takes months to even get the badge. 2023 owner here.

18 mpg on a turbo v6 at 450 hp is actually pretty impressive. My TL AWD struggled to get 16 mpg.

hey eddie are you recording on an iphone i noticed that the video slows down in frames when youre recording something in a dark area, if so i recommend you turn off night mode because that may be the main reason to why your video frames slow down when recording in dark areas.

Hi Eddie, so which one do you prefer driving? Ct4 bw or ct5 bw in terms of driving dynamics?
Ct4 is more nimble, but the noise and power of the 5 is just so epic.
Pure driving dynamics, I’d take the lighter and smaller 4

Absolutely love the CT4 and CT5 Blackwing. I own a E92 M3 but I would take the Cadillac's over the current M3 and M5. The CT5 Blackwing in particular is a very special car. It outpaced the M5 CS during a head 2 head lap time show down. Classy and fast!
What are your thoughts on interior comfort?
Pretty good, not as spacious as the CT5 but I’d daily one
i’m hoping my 2023 lease can be bought out and I get Into a ct4 v or blackwing or fully loaded sport in august or october when I also go and get my wife a new xt5 or xt6 since her lease is up.
I'm currently in the market between this and the RS3. I have to test the backseats with a car seat in both vehicles, I am assuming the CT4V BW has slightly more space in the rear than the RS3. Cadillac did not disappoint with this beauty.
Definitely a bit more back seat space. This is closer to A4 class size from what I recall.
Do you need awd? And do you care about manual vs auto. Those would also be big deciding factors!
I actually had a RS3 and Sold it for the Blackwing in a Manual. The RS3 is definitely faster when tuned (I had a APR E85 tune).
To answer your question though, the back seats suck on both cars. I am 5'11'' and basically no one can sit behind me in either vehicle. I have to slide the seat forward and become borderline uncomfortable so that someone can comfortably sit behind me.
Honestly the backseats are worthless in the blackwing.
@joszer I have a 2023 RS3...I like both cars, but manual trans isn't important to me for street driving, just slows me down
As a G80CXD owner, who test drove RS3 & both Blackwings, I would highly recommend the G80CXD or RS3 over either blackwing... Esp if your decision is primarily performance based...
BMW new S58 combined with their RWD biased XDrive in their G80 Comp XD, is a modern marvel. $4k of mods and you have a 9 second car in a highly practical platform.
RS3 is another great platform, just requires more mods to extract its potential or to hit 9 seconds...
@brianmiller1977 M3 is kind of a sterile drive though, and engine sounds like an angry appliance...no question they are fast but it's a big car
$4k of mods and the BMW S58 G80CXD is a 9 second car with 720WHP & 700lbs(Downpipes, drop in filters, and custom E50 tune). You have to upgrade turbos before the CT4v can hit that level.
I test drove both blackwings last summer when I was in the market for a new performance car. Im not a brand loyalist so my decision was based on:
OEM Performance
Performance Ceiling
Tuning gains with basic mods
Performance versatility(Drag, Roll, & Backroads)
Practicality
Drive-ability
Real World Cost(Not the fake MSRP, but actual list prices dealers are selling for)
All factors considered nothing comes close to a G80CXD. I walked away after test driving both blackwings very disappointed with regards to OEM performance, I wanted it to hit on all performance metrics, because I like the design of both platforms, but both of them just left me wanting more...
C8, GTR, Blackwings 4+5, HellCat Charger, GT500, ZL1, RS3, RS5, RS7
Some of these have higher ceilings, but either can only perform well on prepped surface in optimal conditions, have $15k-$50k markups, or requires a lot of additional modifications to hit 9 seconds in the 1/4 mile..
Out of the RWD options, ZL1 was by far the best value. No dealer markup and for RWD the car hooks very well and handles extremely well. Chevy did a great job with that platform development.
RS3 was another great option, however dealers wanted a $15k markup and it would cost another $20k+ in mods..
GT500 is great for rolls, but cant hook to save its life in the street, and were selling for $145k-$150k..
There is not a single performance category where either blackwing will outperform the G80CXD. BMW did an amazing job with the S58 as its a freaking modern marvel of an engine, combined with BMW's RWD biased XDrive, delivers in every application. I can have both kids comfortably in their backseats with groceries in the spacious trunk, and the next minute Im gapping C8 vettes in a 9 second all weather all season highly practical performance daily driver with up to 30mpg highway when driving economically.
RS3 was the next best, and if I could have got one for MSRP, perhaps thats what I would have chosen, because the platform has been out for much longer than the G80 its ceiling is higher, but requires significant mods to get you there from IROZ. However, I wasnt willing to pay significant sums over MSRP, and BMW wasnt pillaging customers last summer.. Unlike most other brands/dealers...
I think this car is more for people who like to go around turns and don't care about peak power. ZL1 is still the best value. The consensus I think is that the CT4BW has better steering feel, a better manual transmission and is more of a "driver's car" than the m3. If your priority is straight line speed then you'll opt for the auto anyway. M3 is better than the Cadillac in pretty much every performance metric, cost is the only other downside. I just despise the direction BMW has gone in as a brand with their whole lineup and I can't support them.
No way 4k gives 200+ wheel HP. I don't believe it. No, it's not happening.
they have white "grey" seats with red stitching and manual. I think that would make a statement about it being a blackwing if someone got that or the brown interior. I do agree though about the BW look far away. GM def should of gone a bit more aggressive with the wheel design for BW models...
Cannot get carbon fiber 1 or 2 pkg on any 2023 unless it’s a IMSA edition. Supply constraints.

What was your mark up because unless you greased someone I’m seeing the average mark up 7500-22k
I paid MSRP at 77k in SE Michigan. No GM employee discount. That being said you actually can find between 1000 and 1500 off 4 BW now.

My son's name is Jaxson as well! So would you say the CT4 blackwing is worth the money, or just spend a little more and get the CT5 blackwing. The V6 just doesn't sound very good imo.
lookup tapout tuning they built a down-pipe and tune for these things, sounds great.

Eddie, it has a huge 'black wing' on the trunk! lol I'd say it was a blackwing! I'd really prefer Cadillac to still make a huge luxo boat like the old Fleetwood Brougham model. Something to compete with a Mercedes S Class and BMW 7 series. These sport sedans Cadillac makes now are not offering people a huge luxury sedan.

It’s cute and I’m sure I drives well but is a 4 seater with 2 useable seats which effectively makes it a 2 seater. May as well have a Camaro, Corvette, Porsche or something similar. I’m sure the “tidiness” of the vehicle is what gives it the really strong driving dynamics but I’d buy a true two seater. The way this is setup I feel like the manufacturer is selling me the promise of something that will never be realized for my needs. Enjoy 🍻
The backseat issue is overstated. Camaro trunk is almost unusable, Corvette doesn't have nearly the tech, transmission, fun factor or character. Porsche has absolutely no room in it and unless you want to spend 40k more than this guy, a base cayman would get absolutely throttled by one of these both in a line and on the track.
@@tampablackwing I haven’t driven it but I believe what you say about the fun factor. It’s definitely setup for play. I have however sat in the front and back and for my needs it wouldn’t work. All of my passengers are 6’ and above and 250 or so. That’s snug.

Well if you have a black wing you can only order the badge through Cadillac. You cannot buy it online. It's strictly for black wing owners that's how I had to get my black wing badge
Yeah they should've ditched the V, just made this the CT4 Blackwing, use the cool blackwing logo instead of the V.
That's said, the V looks good too and I think the 23s do get the little "blackwing" on the rear ... Incredible car. Had a manual for 2 weeks now and it's a totally banger.

The only complaint that I have about the Blackwing is that the performance seats are uncomfortable. I have the base seats and they are great.
The touch screen shape, size is just so awkward looking and out of place.
This car is too small for you, you are a tall man, at least get the cT5.
How about a Yukon
Cadillac dropped the ATS, which was a one generation platform which I feel had better engineering than this. They dropped it supposedly because of poor sales and also to introduce the CT for well. So far the CT for sales are also not very good and in fact, one of the prominent salesman at my local dealership said that nobody likes them. It’s funny because one of the things they complained about the a TS sedan and coupe or the backseats were unusable. Well they’re basically unusable in this thing as well, so where’s the improvement and also they made the interior look more like a Rubbermaid trashcan then but I would like to see in a Cadillac really I think there’s Chevys that have a more posh interior and I still don’t see young people buying a sedan over a coupe. They’re very hard for them to sell.. I have a 2018 ETS premium performance coupe and I would take it over one of these any day. Do I do like the gray leather with a red piping in a blue car. That’s European color way for sure. But the ATS really deserved a second generation, and Cadillac needs a coupe, I mean they didn’t improve their sales numbers with this thing at all so why not just make a coupe and call it a day and give us what we want.
Cadillac did not know how to market the ATS. The coupe was a beautiful platform/presentation and with the 6 speed and 3.73 gears......WOW!!

I would 100% take a G80 M3 over it. It's mainly the interior that kills it for me and I just don't like GM.
Well if you “just don’t like GM” nothing is really gonna change your mind. But this drives way better than an M3

For me the only benefit that the G80 has is the S58. It’s more powerful and the refinement of the I6 configuration is the only real drawback that I see. But the CT4-V is way more communicative and the manual is more connected than in the G80.
@@pascutia S58 is definitely more potent and exciting. The TT V6 in the Blackwing is just decent, solid power and torque tho. Fully agree with you!
@@pascutia Not the only benefit but as far as manuals go the CT4-V takes it. I don't hate it, I definitely like the looks and sound, but I would personally go M3.

Too small and Caddy is a joke. Build a sub-brand and spend tons on it. Turnaround and rename it something else. Gimmicks. Your lady friend is right, this is no Caddy. I never take this over a straight six 3 series. Caddy should have never stopped building CT6. No one in America buys this tiny car.
