- It killed me to be Commanderless so I searched hard and prayed harder 🙏🙏🙏. The winner was an Overland from Alloway NJ. Ironically the day that I could make the trip was the day of the polar plunge! I stopped off at Seaside Heights in hopes of finding a buddy... Enjoy the Vid!

Both commanders are Hemi's so mostly everything is the same . Was black beauty a two wheel drive ? Well anyways nice Jeep and can't wait to start this series DanH and congrats 👍
Best of luck on your endeavors with the Commander(s). I'm not sure about anyone else, but I think I've come to the point where I prefer old style simplistic features. "Quarter" triangle windows, crank handles, environmental controls with a cable and less or no plastics. I'm that guy who'd be pulling crap out a new "wrangler" onto the ground like in the movie Armageddon stripping al the useless weight fluff. Which means I'd be better off buying some old CJ off a lot. It also makes me the same guy who'd be getting rid of a Stellantis to get anything with any Dana front and rear. 😜🤣

Figured out the canister hook up but having trouble with the gray vacuum pump I think and filter. Would you be able to show me something off your WJ how to hook the systems ? 🤓

Being a Texan and visiting new Jersey was like a culture shock.
These are the things I noticed. Highways didn't go above 55. No left turns. Can't pump your own fuel. They don't sell alcohol anywhere except liquor stores and bars. Oh and the tap water tastes sweet.
Dan H. helped me DIY my ZJ...and has forgotten more than I know about Jeeps....
Apparently the 2009 is slightly better than the older years...the 5.7 is an advantage as well. Found 2 issues for the 2009 on the internet (See below)...easy peezy for Dan, probably....(16 spark plugs for the tune up , Dan H. account? ha...Subscribe/ thumbs up, lets help Dan get to 50k).
1.)Delayed engagement of the automatic transmission may be due to a faulty internal cooler return filter. Our technicians tell us all cooler filters with the "AB" suffix on the part number are suspect and should be replaced.
2.)The service 4WD system light may illuminate with no fault codes stored in the final drive control module (FDCM). Our technicians tell us a software update for the FDCM is available to correct this concern.
DANG MAN! This makes me miss mine so bad. IT IS IDENTICAL INSIDE AND OUT. One of the best vehicles I've ever had. It is so perfect for road trips.
I just drove from Boston to Charleston SC. Here at home you can pump your own if the station is open. Jersey is usually my first stop for gas. You can’t touch the pump. But get down South at 2am and the station is closed don’t worry! You can pump your own! They leave the pumps on! It’s almost like they don’t believe in controlling every inch of your life! What a concept?!
Hey Dan before you lift it you have to get Tom woods front differential axle mod...I replace my axles every 6 months or so ..they run 499 a piece compared to the high angle cv axles...I have the same thing but mine is the 2005 grand Cherokee with the commander front diff till I rebuild the old one...oh sa e that diff they don't sell them if they do they are 2900 plus 299 to ship...mine has electronic lockers known as quadra drive two .I have so much time in mine...fun to work on though .oh replace those lower shock mount and clevis bolt ..if it's rusted in..grab a beer first and some time..
Hi Dan, Im out here on the south shore. Got a question: What are your thoughts on eliminating the mechanical cooling fan on a 01 xj 4.0 and using electric only?
I had a heat soak issue if I went into the store for like 10 minutes. Hooked up a momentary pb in the cab and adjustable (up to 3 min) time delay relay for cool it off for those short time periods when the temp rise vaporizes the fuel in the rail. Seems to work but its still spring. Have you done all electric or know someone that has? If so what is the opinion? Engines tight with 125K, I installed new injectors not to long ago, and the fuel pressure in the rail doesn't bleed down over time when off. Thanks, Tom
