My nan really loved the sound of lesley garretts voice. And evrytime I listen to this song it reminds me of her. we had this playing at her funeral.. means even more that when we got around to the emotional time of sorting out her belongings we found a book of lesleys with a bookmark on the chapter of going home. Beautiful song x
I had recorded Lesley Garrett Tonight and The Lesley Garrett Show on videotape, not knowing that one day i would be able to re-broadcast them to the world!
I hope she never retires. I was in the company of a music snob one day recently and when I mentioned Lesley Garret he sneered and walked off.Oh what it is to be ignorant
She's the only soprano I can listen to; in general, I find the sound of a soprano voice rather an unpleasant sound, regardless of the skill of the operator. (Pity, as many of them seem to be nice people.)
I think of a completely different song when I see this title. Going Home by Mary Fahl. The song was used as the title music of the film Gods and Generals. The tune is better than the film. Although Steven Lang can chew scenery with the best of them. Listen I think you'll enjoy
Beautifully sung! Crazy of me, I know, but this song always reminds me of the Hobbits, heading into Mordor, hoping against hope that someday soon, they would be going home....I do hope Dvorak isn't spinning in his grave, the New World is truly awesome, and I mean no disrespect to him, or the symphony. I admit: Nuts, me.
Che sensazione di calore .Sciogliersi per gli amici e sentirsi a casa con loro ......che voce sembra venga dal profondo e poi l'accompagnamento dei fisti è come un eco continuo ......come se le nite emesse ci trasportassero ......verso casa .

Lesley's stunning voice is the icing on the cake!! The cake being her beauty/humility and the wonderful way she presents her music .

I think Going Home is a beautiful song and always reminds me of the little boy in the HOVIS advert!❤️🎼🍁🍀🌻🎼
"Reel buttah"!
Age-wise I could have been that little boy, in Newcastle, about 1946, short trousers, school cap and all!
She is the best operatic soprano actually born in this country.

Just look at what Yorkshire can produce .. a fine opera singer, and a beautiful brass band .. the famous Grimethorpe (Colliery) Band.
Beautiful sound.
absolutely beautiful!!
I have got several of her albums, I like her powerful voice which beyond compare
Unlike most opera singers Lesley has a unique visual appeal and must be seen as well as heard to be fully appreciated.
Is she an opera singer? 😂😂 if yes, what opera? Lol
@@damian.r. She was principal soprano of the English National Opera
