I love how Ketch plays the song differently each time. I don’t know how many times I have heard this song but it’s never exactly the same violin riffs. It’s just Ketch fiddling, which shows how truly talented he is. Most of us fiddlers are happy just being able to play a song consistently the same. It’s incredibly difficult to make it sound different and fresh each time.
I've practiced along with the video a *lot* and.... you're right but he is following a general melody line (not just the song tune but his solo) from the studio version. But you're right, the guy's a pro and mixes it iup.
For sure. The 1st one I ever heard was the best, but it's not on anymore..
Sadly , Hes not actually plugged in and playing it. Its a recording.
@edptoblo do you have any proof, at all
Now this is how country music should be played. Beautiful lyrics, intricate melody played and sung to celebrate the simple joy of being alive. I can listen to them for hours.
I agree
But it's not "country music".... it's "Newgrass"... current release Appalachian Bluegrass rooted music...
@@roscoemccoy8383 thank you
actually... it's originally a Bob Dylan song... Woulda been nice if he had finished it.
I think Bob Dylan would be happy with what they did with his song. There’s something so special about it. It just makes you feel good. I almost cry when I hear this song.
What an awesome group of incredibly talented musicians!
Ketch had the looks and talent that would have skyrocketed him to fame as a solo artist, the fact they have stayed together as a group tells all you need to know about them!
It is impossible to listen to this song without grinning. An instant classic.
Colerain Fan of sing it around the campfire. group participation compensates for lack of fiddle
I came to say this is a classic. I knew the first time I heard this song it would be a classic. Too bad there aren't too many songs nowdays or any for that matter that would be considered classics.
The song that said goodbye to country? Maybe
SO TRUE!!!
I'm someone that loves to mimic voices and sounds I would love to recreate this
this is the way i will remember this band!!!!
Whenever I’m depressed, I come here and watch this. Always helps
There is music. There is good music. Then there is THIS music.
The last time I saw my Mom alive, we heard this song over the radio from a truck that was parked next to us getting gas....... I said "I know this song", my Mom said "me too",and we sang the rest of the song together... Thank you that......
love that story
The guy on the left playing banjo is a star ❤
Talented band and that lead singer, whooo…cute and plays fiddle while singing
Well, at least Bob Dylan started writing it.....the chorus anyway, but never finished it. Then Ketch found it, contacted Bob, wrote the verses and shared in the final songwritng credits, great job to both of them!!
Excuse my ignorance, but whose Ketch?
@@emilygraham9968 he's the guy singing
@@DarkCreatorn Cheers thanks for that!!
@@emilygraham9968 no worries!
Not how the song went.. get it's r ught fucking bozo...betchya don't even listen to this type of music
Anyone else absolutely captivated by the lead guy? Damn.
Ooooh yeeaahh!!!!!!!
He’s hotter in the video clip.
The way THIS song should be played. Sweeet.
I never get tired of watching them.
i love people/bands that love the music and not just doing for the paycheck. these fellas just seem to love what they are doing. love em.
This is real country.
I wouldn't call it real country. More like Americana.
@@deborahc.crawford256, thanks. I based it on what my family listened to. They just called it country. I have done more research, and thank you for helping me learn more.
LOVE this song -- and these TRUE MUSICIANS!! Great MELODY and HARMONY! (And ON PITCH!) Lovely !
Great Song this is by far the Best version
Doug Wells
This is not a version but an original. Dylan wrote the chorus in '70s and this Old Crow singer/fiddler wrote the song on that.
Quirk Essence I suspect Doug Wells meant that this particular live performance is the best version of the song (vs the album version etc)
+Thomas Price I thought perhaps he meant in comparison to the Darius Rutgers (sp?) version.
This is such a beautiful song! I got into OCMS a few years back, on the strength of the song “Methamphetamine.” So this one was a tune I didn’t really listen to until recently, and DAMN. Can’t wait for us to get a hold of this pandemic so we can get some live music once more.
It takes Dylan to create a brilliant classic like this
I must have played this about everyday since discovered
Yup
The Ken Burns documentary on "History of Country Music in America" has been showing again on PBS. If ya really wanna learn about the origins of Honky Tonk, Bluegrass, and other styles and genres, watch this entertaining and educational documentary. It is in six or more installments.
anything Ken Burns does is entertailing and educational but when it's about music - it is off the charts amazina!!!
Love these guys, great harmony, great fiddle and lots of fun
A great song by a great band that will always remind me of home. Old Crow is better than any of these other whiny, sappy, country stars we're disgraced by now
410 million views of Darius Tucker's version says you're underestimating just a tad versus the Old Crow Medicine Crow version. I like 'em both. :)
This is an even better version than the circus show video...good song
I have and will always love this song,,, and the band
Great tune 👌
Yeeeehaaaa!! Fell in love with this song the first time I heard it. What a treat to see'm do it live!
Ketch secor is amazing the man can sing and a hell of a fiddler
wow these guys rock live.
Yeah got to see them at the opry in Nashville.
Great song.. Much love to all the Momma's and Grand Mamma's out there
A truly great tribute to women everywhere.
wow...what a great version...never heard it better.....
absolutely outstanding !!!!
Country music at it's best.
Absolutely, this is old time country music. However, the original version was by Bob Dylan in 1973 known as Rock Me, Mama. But he never quite finished it. Old Crow Medicine Show picked it up, finished it with Dylan, and recorded and released about 2003 as Wagon Wheel. Darius Rucker of Hootie and the Blowfish records and releases it in 2013 and the rest is history. Between 1973 and 2003 the tune had an underground following. Believe me, I know. "Rock me, mama" was one of my favorites...both music and expression.
Old crow kicks ass!
Awesome music so cowboy country love it!
This is my favorite song ever
So we have something in common.
Greetings from France, dear friend.
and beautiful harmonies!
From Heaven to my ears
Woo hoo! Got tickets to see 'em at Red Rocks in 4 weeks!
Man I love these guys ,kicking it!
Apparently, the guy wants you to get rid of your arms that defend your family
Love this it takes real talent to be able to play the fiddle and sing and the same time amazing does anyone have the fiddle sheet music thx ?
Yes. I play it. Let me know if you still want the sheet music.
Awesome band song 😁👍👍🎶🎶
Saw Ketch at the Oprey doing Wabash Cannonball at the 40th Anniversay, that is how I found him. So glad I did.
Had he a problem with his eye?
Great song, classic!
A stye, I imagine.
God I ❤️❤️❤️❤️ this song😍😍😍😍
Thanks......I needed that. ;O)
LOVE THIS SO MUCH LOVE COUNTRY
Country music isn’t corrupt why haven’t these guys received awards, because they are traditional. And thats all I’ll say on that!
They’re part of the grand ole opry. Not like they aren’t highly acclaimed and recognized. Radio play is a whole other thing.
Harmony sweet harmonies from the boys.
Hard to believe this song was first created (at least started) 50 years ago. From Bob Dylan to Darius Rucker with Sketch and the Crows keeping it alive in between. Maybe one of the best songs ever written.
Can't believe they have just released a new album. Everyone should give that a listen.
fucking hate the darius rucker version.. old crow medicine show plays it the best
racist
Brody Hernandez racist
Brody Hernandez not racist just love the original you fuck
norman campbell

Except that's Bob Dylan's song
If this song doesn't make you happy, nothing will.
Aw yeah, boys, do it !!! Wonderful...
I'm loving it so much. But I'm missing my mom's brother do this song 😞😭

Blinding talent!
Makes me dance! Picking too!
This is country..
Folk. una tradición campirana. que gusto escucharla
So wonderful :)
Ive been to weddings where it was played at the reception. Young ones rally know it.
This is all it needs to be :) fantastic
The first time I'd even heard of this song was in a FB chat. The posters were complaining about how it's been played to death and they are so sick of hearing it. ..........'Funny', I thought, 'I'd never even heard of it, gotta check it out'. Five or so years later, I'm frequently listening to this tune's various versions (....no favorite one. Rucker's is good as is OCMS) since and I'm just not getting tired of it at all.
Wagon wheel music is allsome keep it going
The name is Vincent morgan
Old crow rocks
Thank you llliiiillllliiiiiillllllliiiiiillllliiiiiilllllll.......
I like how he's the only one playing fiddle violin that way no one can say it was the other guy playing
Really like the video with the girls-girls-girls
These guys are good.
I didn't know Jax Teller was in this band!
If you get a chance check out the tour documentary with these guys, Mumford & Sons, The Magnetic Zero's... One of the best 'TOUR' films I've seen in awhile...
Still haven't watched the movie yet. I saw all 3 in seperate concerts. They all been on great performances. It sounds like an awesome idea for a movie.
I watched that years ago in the middle of the night knowing I had to work the next morning. Couldn’t turn it off.
I cried....
Wanna dance, dance, dance!!!
You guys really cook🙂
Heck yeah!
Never knew Steven Crowder played in Old Crow
Does anyone have the video of old crow and Darius Rucker singing wagon wheel at the grand ole opry?
It used to be here on RUclips and easy to find. I just did a search for it and it seems to have disappeared. I don't know why. I hate when that happens.
Gene Mars I think the opry took it down along with a lot of other contenr
No it's out there seen it yesterday. Just search wagon wheel 👍
srdeční záležitost
Bet they HATE wagon wheel by now but I freaking love it.
I am trying to find the name of the short fiddle player who rocks his head back and forth all the time. He plays blue grass, caught him on pbs one time and didn't catch the name of the band.
Great!
Mexicano i love this music
Louder with Crowder
Way to tell a story to a girl you love.
If you search : 'wagon wheel original bob Dylan' you'll hear the original as was intended for the Billy the Kid soundtrack..CBS records had a campaign slogan to promote Bob years ago.." Nobody sings Dylan like Dylan" If you listen to the original rehearsal from 71 I think you'll agree that everything pales in comparison to Bob's early rehearsal tape.
Bob sucks. He mumbles his way through a half ass version of what this song would eventually become on that demo.
@@davecarsley8773 ..What part of practice session didn't you understand? There are a few of these sessions on youtube and they get better and better..
@@davecarsley8773 right. I can’t help but roll my eyes when people try to say this is a Dylan song. Like come on man his version sucked. That’s just what rock fans and Dylan dickriders say to protect their fragile egos rather than just admit that they like a country song.
48 people dislike this (until today 24/10/19) the only thing I can think of is that they were so away with it they clicked the wrong button..
Yeah, because nobody could ever enjoy different arts and entertainment than YOU do...
Why make a negative comment towards what I said when my comment was light hearted?
Must be one of those troll type 🤔
Long live The Old Crow 🤘🏼
Oh Yeah!
The devil couldn't beat ketch on that fiddle
❤
heyyy, momma rock me
Does anybody else besides me what to use 6th gear when they listen to that?
Nope. Just you. Nobody else has a 6th gear.
needs more Willie
Classic
blijft mooi
I can't believe the set with Darius is gone. Why?? Anyone with a link?
