The rotj hair looks so much better the the mando version.
The "pop" was brilliant! 🤣🤣🤣 Vader looks pretty good overall - the helmet does seem a little fiddly. Luke actually looks really good. I appreciate you giving us a early look at these!

Black Series keeps creeping up on Mafex and figuarts. 5 years ago it was no contest, now it's becoming a tighter race.

Thanks for sharing your thoughts on these new Jedi figures Luke. I've got mine on preorder and just waiting for them to release here. I like the switchable chest plates Luke comes with but I'm mostly excited about Vader. When I started collecting black series figures the Star Wars 40th Anniversary were already out so that was my first Vader and I got him on sale for a good price. I wanted Vader with removable helmet but I held off. Empire Vader was even better and I ordered his main line release. I just wish Vader had the chain on his cape. But other than that, I think he looks amazing.

I'm excited to get both of these, I think Luke looks great, and I think the sculpt for Vader's face is great, too, I'm just not sure why he has so much color to his face when in the film his face is more white/grey. But it'll look alright on the display nonetheless. Keep up the great content, Luke! The amount of effort you put into your reviews is definitely apparent and makes them some of the best on RUclips, imo.

I just got the ROTJ 40th Vader. The helmet was a pain to begin with. But once you figure out the strategy required, taking it off and putting it back properly so it sits flush and does not fall off (even if it's shaken upside down), is a 5 second job. It's still a flaw that you need to work out exactly what to do to fit it. When I first saw it, I assumed it would be magnets, which surely would have made a lot more sense.
I've seen a few videos of people trying to put it on. I position the head so Vader's mouth is covered by his rebreather. Then slot one side of the face mask into its slot (lining up with where the 'ridge' ends on the lower 'jaw' part of the helmet. Then simply place the other side into it's slot, pressing it in slightly with your finger nail until it too lines up with the 'jaw' part. Once you get the knack, it's a very quick process.
Helmet issues aside, I think the ROTJ 40th Vader is the best looking one. Being able to see Sebastian Shaw as Vader under the helmet is a very nice bonus.

2.19 the helmet of mine was also problematic the first day but then for some reason it started to fit perfectly to the slots after that day
Looks like this Vader suffers from the same issue as its TVC counterpart. Adjusting the portrait first before placing the mask is what will help keeping it in place as best as possible but I think the gap on the TBS release will be a little more noticable. Portrait looks better than the prototype renders but the arm seems to pop off quite easily. I’m curious to know if you need to attach the peg onto the arm as you get the full right hand in place.
I’ll get this figure in regular packaging but I did preorder this one to keep carded. I can wait for a regular release… unless I find it again in the wild.
I have the ESB black series Vader with the original unhelmeted head that came with the Figuarts Jedi Luke and it’s an amazing combination

Great review on these two Luke, Vader is looking better than I expected face wise but that assembled helmet is 😕. I still think the SHF RoTJ Vader with some custom soft goods is the definitive 6 inch Vader, but no denying this figure is amazing for the price! Still not a fan of the new Luke but this is easily the best looking of the bunch! Can’t wait to see you review and compare that new R2 😉.
why don't u like the new luke also the definitive darth vader is the upcoming shf kenobi vader
@@notamethadict I agree and have him Pre Ordered but I’m talking about what’s currently available to buy. Also as far as Luke, the likeness just isn’t there. Looks more like Kevin Bacon than Mark Hamill, body is fantastic but I’ll just stick with my SHF Mando Luke.

Definitely tempted to get this Luke to replace the previous ROTJ version with the Aunt Beru face, lol. I like the matte portions of his outfit too.
Both of these figures look brilliant and will be replacing the much older versions in my collection.

How does the new head look on the light cruiser body?
I have to ask, would you recommend this luke or the mandalorian luke? Also as someone who needs a definitive Vader would you recommend this one or the Kenobi one?
If I could combine the Figures RotJ Vader body with the Mafex Rogue One Vader head, I think that would be the perfect Vader. As it stands, figures with a replacement cape and robe is as near perfect as we get right now. Though I've got high hopes for the Figuarts Kenobi version.

I ordered Luke and am anxiously waiting for it to arrive. I may get R2, and I’m very tempted to get Vader. I wonder if some hot water or a heat gun could help the Vader helmet fit better?

Out of all the 6 inch Vaders that have been made, how have they not nailed his look yet?
I agree the ANH Vader from 2016 is closest to source material.
And they always keep forgetting to add his cape chain
I think the reason for the Facemask portion of the helmet not sitting flush is due to Anakin's head needs to be tilted down more. Perhaps tilting it down more so the mouth lines up with the two little mic things. The 3.75 version will have that gap too if the actual Anakin head is looking too far up.

It looks like it doesn't actually stay on his head very well and it looks like the helmet pieces don't actually connect very well. Which honestly is kind of a deal breaker for me
I hate that all the black series hilts just begun warping sitting on your shelf. Wish they would make the hilts out of a sturdier plastic and not rubbery.

Nice BS Darth Vader w/removable helmet. It's about time we needed this figure as well as the TVC version. His head sculpt looks very impressive. Now the S.H.Figures version on his face looks more pale than the BS version. Wonderful Luke in Jedi Knight. I like this one better than the 1st issue.
Rotj Vader has silver going down the raised parts on the shoulder pads and he doesn’t have his chain
