I used a 1 1/2 long 1/4 bolt, 1/4 lock nut, and a 1/4 inch flat washer. I also used the oem bushing as some sort of protector from wearing out the cable. Shifting from neutral to drive is pretty stiff, but is holding up. Im going to check how it's going this coming weekend.
My shift cable snapped where it goes through the floor , I just cut a hole in the floor n use a long bent brake line to choose gears Lol. 2000 S10. Cheers mate thanks for sharing 👍🏻
That is exactly what I did. Welded the bolt in and used a nylon sleeve for the bushing. Works perfect. Next oil change will inspect it to see if nut is staying. Might double nut it then. Nylock nuts are not what they use to be.

YES SIR!!! Thank you. I am on my 2nd bushing.
No problem !
So can I buy the correct bushing and nut at parts store I've had it parked because of this issue gonna look under it on my day off thanks
Most likely need to buy the whole cable from column to transmission
Thanks for the tip
Yeah it's nice and more than perfect way to fix that it has to be welded
You don’t have to weld , plenty of people just use nylon nut with no issues
You’re never screwed if you’ve got a welder
Why not just get a new bushing? They are like 6 bucks and literally just snap into place.
Because they'll keep falling off, it's a very common thing, most people do this for a permanent fix
What did he do with the silver piece
The shifter tab ? Drill out the pin and use a through nut and bolt
Must be the silent generation 😂😂😂
Where exactly is it?
Under the truck on the driver side almost right under the driver seat on the transmission
It’s gonna be eating all the metal off your oil pan
@jamesskrucial thank you this is exactly what happened to my Yukon 😮
Wtf
