    Linkage grp= total no of diff. chr of a species
    Linkage grp, in human males = 22 pairs autosomes +1X chr+1Y chr i:e: 24 linkage grps
    Female = 22 aytosome +2X chr i;e 23 chr

    Humans can have 2 linkage groups based on gender.
    Male have 22 pairs of autosomes and 1X and 1Y. So, in all 24 linkage groups.
    While females have 22 pairs autosomes and 1X pair. So, total 23 linkage groups

    14:10 here we took A and B but in A and C we made two cases either C and A or A and C... Similarly how did we know it was gene A and B and not B and A...... That there could have been 4 positions CAB,ACB and CBA,BCA

      Bro ahe said the gene c is ten units apart from gene A and gene B is 20 units from gene A, so CBA is impossible bcz then dist b/w AC is more than BC but she mentioned that C is near to A 10 units. And BCA is just opposite of ACB... Bro let your common sense work...

    All your lecturers are Excellently presented. Hat off mam. There are 22 pairs of chromosomes are called autosomes. The genes on chromosome one form one linkage group, the genes on chromosome two form another linkage group, etc. So there are 22 autosome linkage groups plus the X and Y linkage groups to give you a total of 24 linkage groups. Please clarify the same.

    which ofthe following reasons?
    (a) The
    relationship between recombination frequency and map units is different in every
    individual

    (b) Physical distances between genes change

      Its 2n=8 only....like we say in the case of human beings that we have 23 pairs of chromosome so n=23 similarly for drosophil 4 pairs so n=4

    Everyone simply say that Gene is linked and the ratio comes is 8:8 but no one do it.......like mono and di hybrid cross ....😔😔

      Gene is linked so it means that the alleles for colour and wings on the same chromosome will not get separated...So in the video the GGWW for grey body n normal wings are the two different alleles for two different characters but on the same chromosome , and these two alleles are linked ,when it's crossed with BBVV i.e. for black and vestigial wings(BBVV are also two different alleles for two different characters but on the same chromosome but they are linked means very close to each other) the crossing over will happen ,and 16 possibilities are there on the punnets square as we did in dihybrid cross but bec these alleles are linked the end results will be BBVV and GGWW only and we will get 8 BBVV and 8 GGWW.... So ratio is 8:8
      If I have made an error in my explanation please correct me 🙏🏻coz this is what I understood

    In case of male 22 autosomes +1X+1Y chromosome = 24 linkage groups and in females 22 +2X chromosome = 23 linkage groups. (In humans)
    Linkage group is basically the total number of different chromosome of a particular species.
