    Thank you for the lecture. Question -- Isn't it also possible for the Y chromosome to ONLY carry the recessive white-eye gene? I cannot grasp how Morgan came to conclusion that the gene involved in his white-eyed mutant was located exclusively on the X chromosome, with no corresponding allele present on the Y chromosome. If we assume that the recessive gene is also on Y chromosome then we should observe the same phenotype in F2 generation. What am I missing?

    • @aditijain2224
      @aditijain2224 3 года назад

      I too have the Same doubt

    • @shilparanilakra7829
      @shilparanilakra7829 2 года назад +1

      Maybe because Morgan found that the white eye gene was not seen when the F1 males were having cross.. If they were having the recessive gene in Y chromosome they could be able to express in any generation. But the expression was seen when the F1 females were having cross... and F2 males were seen white eyed Thus it was clear that the white eye gene was getting transferred from the X chromosome
