    As always .... That grin on Frank Itt's face when his fingers does their dance up and down the bass strings.
    I love seeing him play bass. It really encourages me to get of my back side/ behind and start practicing a whole lot more.
    And as always, thank you Gregor for your usual flair. It really is a joy watching your reviews.
    P.S.: What bass cabinet are you using to demo the Zoom ... ?
    Thank you again, and God Bless.

    Gotta love Frank. The optimal "bass-image" aside, his playing is somehow true and genuine. Not that he cant go crazy (he can very much). But he decides not to. I hope that I will be able to work up to 30% of that whole package some day.

    I've been very impressed with the B6 so far. I'm still digging in it and building "boards" to use live with my band. I foresee it as my gigging board going forward. This $500 board that does everything I need on a gig vs, the almost $2k worth of pedal board I was toting around to local gigs. Just makes it easier to do/use.

    Frank has such an amazing "Bass Face" when he plays.
    The B6 seems once again to be a great product for bass made by Zoom. I own a Zoom MS 60B and it is a great, compact unit for bass and I really enjoyed it on my pedalboard although it has it's flaws (you have to use an empty patch for bypass or a separate looper pedal) but the sounds were great (especially the preamps, synths and compressors). And if I hadn't switched to a Line 6 unit recently I probably would give the B6 a try.

    I have the Zoom B3n. After Zoom abandoned it as far as updates shortly after release, I moved on to the HX Stomp. The Zoom is weak in pitch/octave/synth areas esp. What I've heard so far seems to be a re-hashed B3n with a few added frills,despite Frank's awesome playing. That paired with Zoom's lack of support in the past continues to make me skeptical. I applaud them for a dedicated bass unit, but I feel the HX Stomp is still a superior unit. I still would like to hear the B6 in person to confirm it.

    • @ShadamAran
      @ShadamAran 5 месяцев назад +1

      I own this unit, and it is much better for dialing in a good bass tone than the helix. Helix takes a ton of work to get a good tone, while b6 has a few presets that can be hard to beat out of the box. Of course when it comes to effects, it can’t touch the helix, which is why I use both in my setup lol

    I’ve been using zoom stuff for a couple years now, and I’ve owned the hx stomp, gt 1000 core, multiple preamps and pedals. And I always keep going back to my B3n or ms 60b. For the same situation that it was designed specifically for bass players a lot of the other units in the market while great and compatible for bass players I just find things quicker in the zoom units. They’re not perfect but for the price there shouldn’t be any complaints really… I mean they have a neve preamp on this b6 that alone is a reason to buy it really tbh.

    • @esposoman
      @esposoman 2 года назад +3

      I find myself in the same situation..I have several pedals and preamps and a GT1000 core too but the truth is that the pedal which I carry to the rehearsal space every week is my trusty B1on with just a couple of presets I use... For years I used real Sansamp paired with a MS60b as a pedal tuner and flanger.

    The older Zoom B9.1ut is my entire rig these days. DI out to FOH and line out to my IEM amplifier. Brilliant sounds and so flexible. One set of banks for live and then a whole other set replicating them but with amp sim engaged for headphone practice at home. I even have a second one for backup, so I don’t lose my sounds, just in case of a failure. After all, it’s an old unit and it’s gigged weekly. This looks like a definite potential future replacement. Hope the synth sounds are as good.

    Line6 made bass-only modellers in the past. And I think its a step back. They couldve at least put some of the effect algorithms of the G6 unit in there. Lots of stuff missing. For the price you can just get a pod go or hx stomp, which also have presets for bass. The DSP on the B6 is also very limited. Many patches cant hold more than amp, cab and one effect.

    • @eadsinstrumentsllc
      @eadsinstrumentsllc Год назад

      That's the main reason why I bought an L6 Pod hd 500X vs a Zoon G5N. I can play bass and guitar. The units that are instrument specific are silly for musicians nowadays.

      I had Zoom G1XN and it was a toy. Then I got Zoom B3N which was better but still felt some kind of cheap modeler in form and sound. This video was proposed by YT and I just thought - cool, let's see some new pedal ;-). So whats interesting: The 10meg Ohm impedance - I know some guys using piezo pickups for violin or uprights. This is cool and somewhat rare. And also the two inputs. Would be a cool feature for our guitarist (with electric and acoustic) - but sadly the G6 is missing that and the XLR-Out.
    So for me - personally - I got my SansAmp programmable and my HX Stomp, but for my bass jobs ... most time I just go DI ;-). But thanks for this nice video. Liked esp. for your focus on relevant informormation and _not demonstrating all possible sounds_ ;-). Keep rockin, best regards, Stefan

But this is state of the art in 2022. And was popular since the 80s. Different EQ and effects for the low and for the high frequencies. I tried to simulate with splitter and blend on the B3n but it is not like Helix, Darkglass or Orange‘s bass butler. What a pity.

    I would have hoped that you had an upright there too for these tests/demos. I've been looking at this device mainly because it would be a convenient way to have many basses on a gig. Namely electric 5 string bass and an upright bass with a piezo pickup and just plug both in without any fuss.

The IR are not working as I expected, at least in live performances through a P.A. I don't like how they sound (nor the sound engineer) The looper is very weak. The drum patterns are exactly the same as zoom b3 and even the b1on (very lo-fi), and finally, it's processor is very limited. I can't put more than 4 or 5 "things" on a patch (amps/IR/FX) because it gets overloaded. Oh, and it's very big. I used to put my b3 on my instrument bag and go, and that's impossible with the b6...

    Same effects as B3N(and missing some great ones from B3 also)
    Three useless switches on right side make's it too big.
    The audio interface is the only "new" good thing

    Once again I’m not sure what Zoom is doing. So the guitar players get a pedal but bass players don’t. And unless I saw a typo, the guitar player one is cheaper. Now I’m sure you can purchase a pedal… but why. And it’s an added expense. So bass players have to pay more. Correct me if I’m wrong. Not impressed! Half of those effects you’ll never use in the real world. But tinker away! Oh, I use Zoom exclusively but the old ones that have pedals. My favorite… the B2.1u. Built to last! 👍✌️

    I sold my b1x four to get this Zoom b6….I found that this stuff is not better than the B1X four….there is not switch on the external pedal too, you can’t close the pedal on the patch…the 2 bypass is not necessary and 4 di either ….the touch screen is stupid! I love the color screen but more bottoms will be better! And also no battery option! And the tone is total the same ! Ha ha…why pay more ??

      Dude, shut the hell up…. don’t watch this channel if you don’t like his accent, and on top of it, he’s got enough fans that you not being around really won’t matter whatsoever.
