No One from what I just found out the 2014 model was the last one with a waterproof liner. The new one doesn’t have one. And I found out after I bought it lol
Love these videos. We need new ones though!! Most products listed in your old top 5 videos (gloves under 100, hot weather jackets etc) are now discontinued. Would love to get some fresh roundups.
@@Stinky_boyy They do new gear videos every year but nowadays it's one video for a piece of gear (one for helmets, one for jackets, one for boots, etc.), and one extra for casual commuting gear. Not as many variations like the old days.
I have had the Klim for about a year and love it. I went down with it in a slow turn, about 20 mph. Blind corner hit some sand and the jacket performed awesome. Couldn't even tell the jacket took a hit. Best jacket I have had for summer riding.
I bought the Klím Induction jacket for exactly the same reasons you mentioned. I only thought about the price at time of purchase. Now, every time I ride with this jacket I appreciate the quality and fit. Great review, thanks.
I went to the Klim factory showroom in Idaho and the Induction is what I left with, given that summer is coming. I really liked that the elbow pockets for the armour allow some adjustment of their position. The one size fits all jackets always feel like forearm armour instead of elbow armour. As always, excellent review!
great reviews! I like the honest reviews. I've had the Klim Induction jacket for over a year. it's been through two summers, a fall and spring in the PNW (Oregon). Ride year round. It's an amazing jacket, just add a few layers as the temps drop. The small pocket at the end of the left sleave is for an emergency info card which Klim provides after you purchase the jacket. Just send them any info you'd like to have on the card. The card is very durable, similar material to a credit card or drivers license. The yellow 'star' next to the zipper will alert EMTs or other response personal to look inside finding important things about you should they find you unconscious. It includes my name, emergency contacts, blood type and any other pertinent you'd like included.
I live in Yuma Arizona, where the Summers get over 115 regularly. I commute around 20 miles to work. Although is hot is also very dry. I use a long sleeve moisture weaking compression shirt, like the ones use to work out. I wet the shirt and wear it underneath my mesh jacket. I found this to keep me cooler than just wearing a t-shirt. and definitely more protected. Best part is that it only cost around $20.00
I now own the Icon and I really like it. I got a large and will keep it, but if I were to order another colour I'd go for a medium. Tons of air flow with all the protection you'd need and expect in a mesh jacket.
wearing a Bering since 10 years in Indonesia, great one under the tropic, a big thumb up for the quality of your videos and your channel !!! Cheers from Bali.
My biggest issue with Icon jackets are the fit. It seems they don't make a SINGLE jacket that more of European cut. Not everyone is carrying around a spare tire.
My biggest issue with Dainese and Alpinestars jackets are the fit. It seems they don't make a SINGLE jacket that more of American cut. Some people are carrying around a spare tire.
Really? My Dianese jacket makes me look like I have a spare tire and at 6 ft 165 lbs, I don't. I'm having a bitch of a time finding one that fits right at the chest and stomach and the correct sleeve and shoulder measurement.
@@danielgreen5803 Im American and I dont have a spare tire. What I do have is an issue with either getting a jacket that fits my shoulders or a jacket that fits my waist.
I just bought one of these from Fortnine, from all the research I've done I just could not bring myself to by anything else, the features on this jacket are so far beyond anything else I could find so the 200-300 extra it costs doesn't hurt so much. Really, the bottom line is the armor and the materials... if I'm going to crash, I want to be wearing this jacket.
Would you mind saying what size of the induction you we're modeling? I'm about similar size and can't decide where 6 foot 2 long arms + slimmer torso fits in the sizing chart. Bit of a long shot on a five year old video, but hey might as well. Thanks!
If you want the very best and dont care as much about fashion, get a Motoport mesh kevlar setup. People wreck at tracks at 100mph and the jacket still passes track inspection to be used again, thats tough mesh. And yes you have to pay for the best, you will whine a bit.
Thank you for a great- well researched and informative- video. I’ll add the Olympia Switchback 2 to the top of the line. It is LOT’S of mesh, Cordura chassis, has an inside-outside rain liner, and, most importantly, it has CE rated elbow, shoulder, and back protection. At $150, it beats almost any other mesh jacket. Paint with their air glide 4 pants.
Ryan... I like videos, but if I'm on a video roll I tend to skip the like button. Your videos I "like" before the video even starts playing EVERY SINGLE TIME!
Hey Ryan, thanks as always for your comprehensive reviews and straight talk. I am confident with your no BS approach. As I am building my 2018 wish list, I add things to the list and will use it for sorting, but I notice that a number of the products show as out of stock. Is this because it is now winter up here and it just doesn't make sense to inventory, or do the lines change so often that a video goes stale rather quickly? I would also like to request that you consider adding a small point about available size ranges, as not all of us are 6' 3" and 175lbs. Some may come close in height but be of the heavier sort. Thanks for the work

Ryan, your videos are always top-notch! I'm curious what's the difference between this Klim Induction and the newer Induction. Which one would you choose and why?
Torn between the klim Induction, dainese air flux, and Rev'it Akira Air. My first priority is the airflow, and safety is very important second. I ride Harley Davidson street 750 and Suzuki gsx s1000.
Great review! I purchased the Klim Induction in March. I have nothing but praise for this jacket! It took me a minute to pull the trigger because of the cost; however, it is worth every penny. It does what it purports to do. The jacket flows a ton of air, fits comfortably and the liner is great for chilly Midwest mornings and keeps me dry throughout. I hope I never have to test the jacket's abrasion/protective properties, but if I do, I am confident the quality of Klim will come through. If you can afford it...purchase it. So did you end up buying the Klim? I looked at many mesh-armored jackets and kept coming back to the Klim Induction. The $400 price gave me pause but it offered the best protection vs ventilation in my opinion. Several cheaper options out there and you can always upgrade to D3O but then the costs get you back up close to the Induction which also has the Carbonite mesh. The other jacket I looked at which matches up well with the Klim in terms of ventilation vs protection is the Rukka AirRider. Not as good in venting but slightly superior in crash protection. Cost even more so I went with the Klim. No regrets.
I love how Ryan called those two pouches useless here then in his Best Cheap Motorcycle Jackets of 2020 video, he says his stash needed those when they got cut from an updated version of the Tarmac XD

+Jules-Frederic Nerestant The D-Dry is pretty average around the midsection, actually. Definitely narrower than a typical American jacket, but also roomier than most Italian models. Dainese sizes this guy by the number (chest size +10) so most people will be able to get a good fit. Pasta lovers might want to go up one size from their measurements just to be on the safe side ;) ~RyanF9
Would love for jacket manifacturers to always skip that cheapo thermal liner since you only need one good one that you probably already have from Warmpeace or Montane if you do scout/trekking stuff. And then PLEASE reinvest that saved money in making your waterproof liners removable so you dont need to hotbox to death whenever its not raining. This alone would make jackets more ventilated than any high quality ventilated gore tex jacket.
Great vids. Why can’t manufacturers make a mesh summer riding jacking that has the zipper flap/cover down the chest so your tank doesn’t get scratched up when riding a supersport?
What is better for riding in hot weather textile or mesh jacket. I live in the New Mexico so pretty much the desert so the humidity is usually really low it's a really dry heat plus I don't want anything really dorky
Is there a way to fixate the elbows and shoulders in alpinestars jacket? Whenever i seem to put it in place it seems to wander off a bit and that seems to be bad for the shock protection

I am very keen on the induction jacket for a naked bike...I am in the EU in fact I live in the town Rukka is made..Lol...anyway, I like the look but I am worried about the fit, I am 5,7 (172cm) and a normal size 56 in EU gear - with 44" chest...and I have a gut feel the induction would be a good fit in XL but the sleeves will be long. Thoughts?
Yeah you're probably right! With a 44" chest you *should* fit a Large though, and in that case the sleeves will be about 2 inches shorter (31-32" sleeves on a large). ~RF9
Is the liner on the climb wearable without the rest of the jacket? I don't really understand why all jackets come with liners. From what I gather you'd never wear it unless it was wet. So why not just carry a seperate rain jacket to wear underneath?
I have yet to see a Klim jacket of any type that uses snap adjusters on the sleeves. For as much money as you have to fork over I consider Velcro adjusters to be just cheap. No excuses Klim.
Do you mean the Air Flux or Hydra Flux? Anyway, here are my thoughts: The Hydra Flux is the best (and most expensive) because of the waterproof liner. If you don't care about staying dry, save your money and get the Air Flux. The Air Crono looks cooler, but from the saddle of a bike the Air Flux is just as good. ~RyanF9
Indeed :) At the moment a lot of riders get the Klim Voyager Air pant to match that jacket. But I think it's super overpriced. The Icon Arakis is almost as good for 1/3 the price. ~RyanF9
Where did you get the liner for the KLIM Induction jacket? Perhaps they don't offer than anymore? I can't find anywhere where it states that waterproof liner comes with the jacket.
I had one a few months ago - it was okay but nothing too impressive. What Joe Rocket does *really* well is working mesh jackets underneath their regular riding gear. Like the Alter Ego 13.0 - regular textile jacket with a full armoured mesh jacket underneath. Great bang for buck on that; it's literally two jackets in one. Not a lot of manufacturers do that. ~RyanF9
The Klim looks worth a gander. The Icon is a joke... your ER doc is just gonna be scrubbing melted plastic out of your wounds if you ever perform a real-world “test” of that jacket. I like Dainese gear, at least their leathers, but not sure their variation of plastic would hold up to heat. It’s fashionable, and marginally better than wearing a T-shirt, but without some thorough test data? I don’t think I trust it. Sidebar: Dainese vs Alpinestars... no contest. A* gear feels downright cheap next to Dainese. I own both. My A* jacket is the heaviest-duty leather thing I could find from their lineup at the time, and it only feels on par with my Dainese perf’d leather jacket. Reading gear threads at advrider and the Ducati forums, when A* gloves get crash tested, unless you bought the $200+ Race spec gloves? Just about worthless. My Dainese Hellracer gauntlets seem to hold up much better based on real-world experiences. The Klim is the only one here I’d even begin to consider. Still, the variation on nylon gives me pause. At that price point, I can have Motoport make me a custom fitted mesh jacket with no meltable plastics. It’s all aramid fibers (Kevlar). Real world crash experiences? Users report jackets are either easily repaired (which Motoport does for free... and if it can’t be repaired they’ll replace it), or survive unscathed. Quality of build is world class. And you can’t beat custom fitment. They’re not the most stylish things on the road, very LEO looking... but if I’m gonna sink $500 into a jacket, it’s gonna be the most protective and best ventilated thing on the market. Wish more mainstream channels would profile and test Motoport gear. The $200 off-the-shelf mesh stuff on the market today provides shamefully poor protection. Need some market pressure to get the mainline brands to invest in hot-weather mesh that actually protects the user in a crash.
I would have like to see a bit better how "thin/light/breathable" the jackets are without the inner liners. I live in an area that late spring to fall is 100F+ easily most days
+Mike Louder Thanks for the feedback! I'll definitely touch on that more next season. In the meantime, that Dainese was the lightest/thinnest/most breathable for me. ~RyanF9
Cool jacket! Dainese doesn't make a waterproof liner for the Laguna EVO, and I doubt any of their other ones will fit. Besides, you normally can't buy waterproof inner liners on their own (you'd have to buy the whole jacket, which defeats the point). I'd say you're better off getting a waterproof over-jacket (Icon PDX, maybe?) ~RyanF9
A leather jacket is just as good if not better as it blocks the heat instead of letting hot air thru the jacket directly onto you.. Is a leather cool, by no means, Just better than mesh.
How do these jackets compare to some of the "summer" jackets of Revit? I have an Airwave 1 and it's still awful in Phoenix, Arizona summer weather of 35-45 degrees Celsius. Any suggestions?

I'm looking for a hi vis jacket review - especially for hot weather...any ideas?
Does the Klim Induction no longer come with a waterproof liner?
Thoughts on the knox zephyr?
Is the mesh that much more comfortable than a textile jacket with good venting?
Hey Ryan, what was the size of the Klim you were wearing? Thx
~RyanF9
Need a newer video! Sick of unprotective jackets that suck on air flow.
Got a Dainese leather Laguna evo jacket that comes with a zipped thermal liner. Do you think I can find Dainese water proof breathable liner?
Cool jacket! Dainese doesn't make a waterproof liner for the Laguna EVO, and I doubt any of their other ones will fit. Besides, you normally can't buy waterproof inner liners on their own (you'd have to buy the whole jacket, which defeats the point). I'd say you're better off getting a waterproof over-jacket (Icon PDX, maybe?) ~RyanF9
Like the Induction jacket, just can't get over the price...and I've spent some coin on many a jacket.
Back then RF9 was super cheesy and nice 😁
The Hydra Flux's color on the arms is grey or green?
i wear lethers in 30°c... just hoping i don't get stuck in trafic
I have the Fly Coolpro and it's pretty solid. And only $150
The waterproof pocket in the alpinestars almost covers the entire left chest mesh basically negating the airflow...
what size did you go with on the Klim Induction?
Large. ~RyanF9
A leather jacket is just as good if not better as it blocks the heat instead of letting hot air thru the jacket directly onto you.. Is a leather cool, by no means, Just better than mesh.
New rider looking for mesh because of Texas weather
When I wear a mesh jacket in 100 degree weather do I leave the liner in or take it out?
Is it health to keep a turned on mobile, next to your body?
How do these jackets compare to some of the "summer" jackets of Revit? I have an Airwave 1 and it's still awful in Phoenix, Arizona summer weather of 35-45 degrees Celsius. Any suggestions?
This is why I’m here. I’m actually planning on moving to az in the next year or so from Ohio and want to get breathable gear
Would be great with an update.
2024, still a good video but we need an updated list!!!
