You have no idea how this tutorial saved me! Our bowties never arrived for the wedding the next day, and stores were closed, but I had extra wedding dress fabric! Only thing I did different is used a band of the same colored fabric and had it go halfway around before doing elastic, that way even up close people didn't know it was a quick diy job!
GREAT tutorial! Super clear! I scaled it up and used it to make a bow tie for my golden retriever, who is going to be in my wedding in a week! So easy! Thanks!!
Thanks so much for the great tutorial! It was SO easy to follow. My team has made about 60 of them to sell for a Kentucky Derby Party fundraiser at our church. Everyone is just loving them! We've raised almost $200 so far.
Thank you for this tutorial! I used it to make a bow tie for my son to wear at my cousin's wedding. It was proving difficult to find one the right color, but this video solved my problem.
+Kathy Graves Glad it was helpful. Would love to see what you created...feel free to email a pic if you don't mind. Thanks for watching and visiting the channel!
I used your tutorial to make a C3P0 bowtie this morning. It looks so cute. I glued on a clip to put it in my hair. My boyfriend and I work at Disney, so it's going to look so nice on us.
thank you so much. my son has prom this Saturday and we can't find a bow tie unless we order one. but now we are just going to make one because of this video.
Awww thank you! Glad it was easy to understand. Feel free to share your Bow creations by emailing me at youtiquebridal@gmail.com. Have a great day and thank for visiting!

Youtique Bridal I made them camo! I used camo handkerchief lol. I couldn't find the right kind of camo I needed and seen the hankys on my way out! Won't let me ads a pic though :(.
+shakarah Peyton Thanks for watching Shakarah! I can only imagine how cute your son looked in his minion bow tie. If you would like to share what you create, please feel free to email me a photo. I would love to see it;)
WOW.You make some really simple yet classy videos. That's what i love about you.You make everything seem so easy.I shall be making one of my own very soon.Bye
What a cool tutorial, I only stumbled on this video. I am not even into bow tie but after watching this video I want to make and wear one. You have converted this Brit☺
Thank you for this. I'm making JoJo goody bags for my daughter's bday party and I needed to make some goody bags for the boys and bow ties are just perfect!
nice idea with the stretchy elastic band. so far i've used a normal ribbon and tied it up at the back, which could be a bit goofy looking if it's not concealed properly..
Thanks for your inquiry. You can cut the Bowtie square to be 7in x 3in. For the small center square, you can use the same measurement but fold it over the center instead of meeting in the middle. Also, I recommend using a velcro to enclose the neck strap instead of an elastic band for a toddler. It is a little hard to explain without a visual. I will be working on a tutorial for a child size bow tie in the future. I will notify you once it is published. Hope this helps:) Regards.
I am making these tonight with my cub scout pack for the annual Scout Sunday for church. Do you think I should shrink up the pattern a bit for 8-10 year old boys? It seems perfect for you and you're female....
Laura Miller Greetings! You can use the same bow tie "center" pattern but for the rectangle pattern, draw the rectangle down to 8in x 4.5in. If you have any other questions, please do not hesitate to ask. Regards!
Thanx so much!! I made 2 bow ties, firstly i tried with paper! I worked so i made a blue velvet also, which looks so expensive!! Thanx again! Also tell me how can i upload its pictures and send u :)
I am actually really excited to use this method. I have the template printed out and some nice red fabric waiting for when I have time to make the bow tie. It's gonna be part of my Eleventh Doctor from Doctor Who cosplay :)
STEPHANIE SCOTT Greetings! Measurements are as follows: Bow Tie is 26.5cmx14.2 cm. The strap measurement is 4cmx9cm. The measurements are normally listed in the description box right below the tutorial on RUclips. Thank you for watching!
Thanks so much for this awesome tutorial! I'm thinking about using it to make a very big bow, for my [faux] obi belt, over my kimono... however I'm not sure what measurements to use with this tutorial for such a large bow. Would you know?
MargoNatalie Whatever the size of the bow tie you would like, you double the measurements for the width and length of the fabric. For example, if you want the bow tie to be 7inches by 3inches, you would cut the fabric 14inches by 6inches and then do the folding. Hope that makes sense. Thanks for watching!

Hi! Thank you so much for sharing! Would you be so kind to share where you purchased your glue gun? I am looking for one with a pointed tip and can't seem to find one. Please ?!?!! And thank you so much!

where could I buy that tracing paper? great tutorial, just made two bow ties for our theatre play and they look superb!
Brigita Ložar Greetings! I bought the tracing paper at a local fabric store, Joann Fabrics. I have also seen it at Hobby Lobby in the fabric/sewing department. Thanks for watching!
Hi, I am trying to print your sample tracing paper, but it will not print properly. What sizes are these two "Cut 1 Fashion Fabrics" suppose to be. Thank you, Ilusion.
I haven't used elmer's glue for this project but I would think the process would just take longer. if you tried it, let me know how it worked for you. Thanks for watching!
Kelly Drinkwater thank you. I suggest using interfacing with light weight material to give it some stability but that's great that you attempted it. Thank you for watching!
Kailee Cyanne The measurement for the Bow Tie is 26.5cmx14.2 cm. The strap measurement is 4cmx9cm. If you have any other questions, please do not hesitate to ask. Thanks for visiting the channel!
Thank you for your inquiry. You can just cut out the fabric using the pattern and just fold the fabric towards the center. The markings are just to make things easier but you can also do without the tracing wheel and tracing paper. Thanks for visiting the channel!
Cindy Alvarez Greetings! The pattern is in the description box under the tutorial on the youtube channel. Here is the direct link to the pattern: youtiquebridal.files.wordpress.com/2011/08/bow-tie-1-fashion-fabric-pattern.pdf

I like this instruction more because it is neater. However, I prefer to sew the material as it would allow it to be washed with fear of falling apart. When sewing it, it can be done by hand or machine. Sewing the material on the wrong side then, turning it would give it a finished look and a more stable material to work with.
Elizabeth DeMattia Greetings! Measurements are as follows: Bow Tie is 26.5cmx14.2 cm. The strap measurement is 4cmx9cm. The measurements are normally listed in the description box right below the tutorial on RUclips. Thank you for watching!
Youtique Bridal Thank you so much for answering. I'm assuming the measurements are against the pattern (which I will have to make) not the completed bow tie. Can't get it right on my printer.
Youtique Bridal Love watching your Tutorial. I've been watching it for several days and hopefully I can accomplish in making your beautiful pattern. Thanks again.
lenaoatis2011 Greetings! The link is in the description box on the RUclips Channel. Here is the direct link: @2011. Also, the measurement for the Bow Tie is 26.5cmx14.2 cm. The strap measurement is 4cmx9cm. If you have any other questions, please do not hesitate to ask. Thanks for watching!
Vicky C. Greetings! The following may be the issue: (1) if the fabric is dark and you are using a dark transfer color, it may not show well. I recommend if you are using a dark fabric, use a light transfer paper. (2) you may not be pressing hard enough while transferring (3) it may be a defective transfer paper. that has happened to me before:( Well, I hope this helps. Thanks for watching!

Great tutorial!! Thanks so much. I am wondering, I have never seen a glue gun tip like that! Can you please say where you got it? I appreciate it!
+Dari Litchman Thank you for watching. I purchased it from Joann Fabrics and Crafts Store.
This is so awesome ... love bow ties! Your video was so helpful thank you!!!! I want to make extra large bow tie as a prop. Do you know what measurements I would need to do this? Can't seem to get it right?!@
What measurments do u think I should use for a 5 year old in inches? Thanks for the video!!
Help- Having trouble with the pattern. If the material is 81/2 x 11," I should be getting the same size paper pattern. Correct? Can you please tell me the size of each square not the size of the tie. I'm new at all of this. Would appreciate it in inches. Thanks
Great work! I hear there is a low-temp and a high-temp glue gun ... which can i use? And what type of glue is best?
Thank you for your inquiry. You can use either, but I prefer the high temp.
This is great!... Thanks for the pattern!
You're very welcome! Thank you for watching:)
Hi, I was just wondering, what kind of fabric do you suggest for the bow ties?
+Twizzy Thanks for your inquiry. I used cotton fabric but you are able to use any type of fabric that has some structure to it. If you decide to use a more delicate fabric like silk, you can use interfacing to give it structure. Hope this helps and thank you for watching!
If I wanted to modify this bow tie to fit a baby what measurements would I make the bowtie and strap patterns?
Erica Williard Thanks for your inquiry. You can cut the Bowtie square to be 7in x 3in. For the small center square, you can use the same measurement but fold it over the center instead of meeting in the middle. Also, I recommend using a velcro to enclose the neck strap instead of an elastic band for a baby. It is a little hard to explain without a visual. I will put together a blog post for you and will notify you when it is published. Hope this helps:) Regards.
Thanks so much! I find this very helpful and thanks for the free pdf pattern! I can use this to diy bows for my groomsmen :)
You are so welcome! If you don't mind sharing, would love to see what you created for your groomsmen:) Thanks for watching!

this is great to make Doctor Who bowties
Hey, I'm here too, to make a Doctor Who Bow Tie
Hi, Thanks for sharing. Would you have a measurement pattern for a child's bowtie?
+hinariia Thanks for your inquiry.
Heyooo one more question, I dont have a hot glue gun, would fabric glue work?
+Twizzy fabric glue should work just fine. You will just have a little bit longer dry time but it should be fine. Thanks for watching!
Can't wait to try this ... Thanks ❤️❤️
Roxy Haynes Please feel free to share what you created...would love to see:) Thanks for visiting the channel!
Is there a different template for a kids size bow tie? I'm trying to make one for my 5 year old. Please help! Can't wait to try it. :)

Brigita Ložar Greetings! I bought the tracing paper at a local fabric store, Joann Fabrics. I have also seen it at Hobby Lobby in the fabric/sewing department. Thanks for watching!

Will regular elmer's glue sticks work? or does it have to be glue gun? just wondering. nice video!!
I haven't used elmer's glue for this project but I would think the process would just take longer. if you tried it, let me know how it worked for you. Thanks for watching!
Youtique Bridal Thank you! the Elmer's glue worked perfectly fine just needed to add more layers.
Glad to know that Elmer's glue will work too. Thanks for sharing your experience;)
That was awesome!
Well thank you! Thanks for watching;)

MsDollist That's awesome that you are making one for your son. I'm sure he'll love it:) Thanks for watching!
Thats beautiful 😍
tq for the video.. useful and created a number of bow tie now!!! 😍
great pattern. the only thing I found is if you use light weight material the glue will create bumps in the bow tie.
Kelly Drinkwater thank you. I suggest using interfacing with light weight material to give it some stability but that's great that you attempted it. Thank you for watching!
Ahh. Thank you for the suggestion
I don't have access to a printer, what are the measurements for each box?
Kailee Cyanne The measurement for the Bow Tie is 26.5cmx14.2 cm. The strap measurement is 4cmx9cm. If you have any other questions, please do not hesitate to ask. Thanks for visiting the channel!
What would I do if I didn't have the tracing wheel and tracing paper??
Thank you for your inquiry. You can just cut out the fabric using the pattern and just fold the fabric towards the center. The markings are just to make things easier but you can also do without the tracing wheel and tracing paper. Thanks for visiting the channel!
Youtique Bridal Thank you! So helpful
How can I print the pattern ? Btw you make it look so easy and chic i love it !

+Johaunna Lumas Thank you! I hope you learned something new and thank you for watching;)
what kind of fabric do you use?
+levitjuuh I used 100% cotton fabric. You can basically use any type of fabric that has structure to it. If you use anything with less structure like silk, you can always use interfacing. Hope that helps! Thanks for visiting the channel:)
I'm going to try that. I really like that
That's great! Let me know how it goes:)
wat type of fabric did u use
+raevan whilte I used cotton fabric but you are able to use any type of fabric that has some structure to it. If you decide to use a more delicate fabric like silk, you can use interfacing to give it structure. Hope this helps and thank you for watching!

+raevan whilte I'm excited for you. Please feel free to send in a photo. Have fun!
I like this instruction more because it is neater. However, I prefer to sew the material as it would allow it to be washed with fear of falling apart. When sewing it, it can be done by hand or machine. Sewing the material on the wrong side then, turning it would give it a finished look and a more stable material to work with.
Can anyone tell me the size of the squares are on the pattern for the bow tie in inches? Thanks
Elizabeth DeMattia Greetings! Measurements are as follows: Bow Tie is 26.5cmx14.2 cm. The strap measurement is 4cmx9cm. The measurements are normally listed in the description box right below the tutorial on RUclips. Thank you for watching!
Elizabeth DeMattia oops! Here it is in inches: Bow Tie: 10.5in x 5-5/8in. The strap measurement is 1-5/8in x 3.5in
Youtique Bridal Thank you so much for answering.
Elizabeth DeMattia Thanks

Great job😊
The color from the transfer paper is not showing up on the fabric
Vicky C.
