Just seeing this almost 1yr later. I'm Canadian w/3 generations enlisted in my family... I gotta say, this is my absolute favourite upcycle of anything you've made (that I've seen) brilliant idea & fantastic creativity ✌😎
Loved the up-cycled lamp. Got worried by some of the fishing, thought it might be a butterfly bomb remembered from my childhood. Oh yes the George the V coin - the year of my birth. Love the outings with you Si, now stuck indoor with Covid sheltering and Rheumatics. Next year going to treat myself to a mobility scooter!
Can’t watch you finding those shells without thinking of the Bomb Girls who worked so hard and often died for so little money and were tossed out of their jobs so men could have them after the war. Real unsung heroes! We had them here as well.
In these ‘weird’ times the one thing I can rely on is watching your video on a Sunday - and usually with a good laugh thrown in ( chastity belt - yeah right! 😂) Thanks Si. Keep em coming. Have a very merry Christmas 🎅🏻
I like how you go out and try different ‘techniques’ of mudlarking; Metal detecting, magnet fishing, boating, bottle dump digging, mudshoing, etc. Your crafts are unique and beautiful as well.
Amazing lamp -- and just as you say, we will remember them. It's not glorifying war -- it's remembering how terrible war is -- for everyone concerned, soldiers and those at home. Let's remember so that we do our best to let it never happen again.
Simon, I think what you did with the shell caseing, and buttons, coins and bullets, are fantastic and unique !! You are such a crafty guy !!! Great video sweetheart, God bless you and your great friends ❤
That lamp was absolutely beautiful and a piece of art! I always enjoy your larks, but you down play your artistic side. You should be proud of the lamp, it has meaning and commemorates a very important part of British history! It doesn’t glorify war, it glorifies the strength and determination of the British people that lived through the bombing of London. Cheers Si!
I’ve got an old map of the Thames estuary that has a place called Kynochtown. Nearby it was marked Explosive Works. It turned out that it was the village built by Kynoch to house their workers. The factory closed in 1919 and the village became Coryton when the site was taken over by Cory Brothers who were a Welsh coal exporting company.
Siday is my favorite day of the week. 😉 You never fail to bring us amazing finds and friends! Your upcycles are always fantastic! You come up with so many creative ideas! I can't wait for you to redo that brooch, garnets would be perfect for it! I think you should leave just 1 of the original black stones in the middle. You are such a private person, but I would love to mudlark in your house! I'm sure you have more then 1 of everything on my bucket list! You should do a give away like that in the future. What would Si have that's on your bucket list...😊 Jam pot, a garnet, a button from the Thames, a Si made pin cushion with handmade pins from the Thames- this one is to poetic to not make now...hehe. Thank you for making my Sidays amazing! Wishing you well this holiday season!
I'm not sure which I enjoy more - the adventures on the riverside or the art you create with your Thames finds! Well done - and what an amazing conversation piece & super cool way to preserve a bit of history that shouldn't be forgotten! Nicely done!
Duck … “WTF WAS THAT?”😂😂 Simon you do make a person giggle. Your clean up and up cycle is amazing. Awesome, so clever. TFS. Enjoy your week heading towards Christmas yoohoo! 🎄
Simply fantastic! How would ever think the leftovers from a horrible war could make such a striking lamp/piece of art ? Please be careful and stay safe! Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!
Loved the lamp, and I am Canadian. I had family members help fight in both wars and proud of them all. Thank You for a great video, loved the upcycling.
