Kerala is relatively unique (even coastal Karnataka and some parts of Tamil Nadu have this characteristic) in India for being the most urbanized state but doesn't have metropolises as such. The whole state is more or less like a long drawn out suburb as a result. Relatively less urban rural divide and villages are pretty accessible as a result. Villages in North India especially are very different from this and I would actually caution you if you intend to travel in those regions. Some rural areas in North India can be pretty unsafe for women. Like you can see here that people in Kerala's villages understand some rudimentary English and people like Joy are quite common. This is not the case in many other places in India. In places like UP, Bihar, Jharkhand etc you should not take up such offers. There is a possibility that you might get scammed. Broadly speaking, the West Coast of India (Malabar and Konkan Coast) are much more developed and notably more cosmopolitan than rest of India. This low key true for North East India too.
This summer is hotter than any in recent times in Kerala. Now there is very little water in the rivers. Kerala's raining season starts in june and green season starts August. You can see real beauty of rever in july-august
I feel Mac & keen walking with joy on lungi, is the most a touristor can connect with inside Kerala and its people. Love watching ur vlogs guys. Cheers to Joy. Lots of love from Canada.
I get a craving for Indian food with nearly everyone of your vids! I also love how you engage with the locals, and visa-versa... what lovely, kind people you've encountered. And the Elephants!! Soooo Cool!!!
South India is OK. But don't follow such unknown man in North India. Follow as long as there are other people around. If any problem just shout, everyone else will come and help you.
Best believe that because I personally know it because my father is from the north and I've been there many times for a family wedding and right after that weddings we came home back as soon as possible
Many thanks to Mr. Joy for showing the beautiful place to the world. A surprise guide. Like Mr. Joy, the village people have to show the beautiful place to the visitors which is not in the Web site. Thanks to Mac and Keen for exploring the villages too.. Regards,
Nice to watch our place from a foreigner perspective 🎉 . Gratitude for getting an opportunity to convey my excitement on Mack's creative 'lungi song' btw kaka (keenan 😛)is marvelous. Wish this channel could many more corners of world to us💛
Say just "hello, hey" (instead "namaaskharam" always)🍒 in Kerala ❤ rocks could be slippery near water falls so be careful 💜 prefer tender coconut water, which is the best & purest 🍒
I have visited this place long back, the reason why these elephants come to this specific spot in the river to drink is, natural bubbles pop out from certain holes in this river, the water is little salty in taste. So the elephants love those salty water to drink. Nobody knows why this bubbles pop out from water naturally?
Due to the current intense heat, it is natural for wild animals to come out of the forest in search of water. So the journey to the forest area is not very safe for these two or three months. Animals like tigers, elephants and wild buffaloes are also likely to show aggressive behavior due to this heat. People living in Kerala can handle the situation properly, foreigners beware. You can properly enjoy kerala beauty from July month.
Nice to see both of you super Happy 🎉😂 must be very hot in Kerala now. Thanks to climate 🙄 change. Thanks for being a Roman in Kerala like when in Rome 🎉.
I'm not sure if it was you we spoke to, but it certainly felt like it was both of you. My family and I spoke to you last month when we were in Anakulam at night. You both fed a stray dog, and then we had a brief chat. I'm not sure if you remember.I saw your video today, and that day immediately came to mind. There were a total of six of us-two children and two couples. We mentioned that we were from Kochi.
@@Unstuk Macnkee, have you watched the movie 'Manjummel Boys'? That's where we are from(Kerala--> Ernakulam-->Manjummel). For your ease of identification, I mentioned Kochi (which is also in Ernakulam). Hope you don't mind☺️. Manjummel is our place, and the movie 'Manjummel Boys' is based on a real incident. You should come to visit our small place, Manjummel, one day. We don't have much to show, it's just a small place, but I hope you will enjoy it.
Hey guys! Just to clarify, the "aayilla" she said @10:33 does not mean the fish "ayila" (Mackerel). She meant the curry wasn't ready yet. It's a subtle difference, but the "aa" is longer and the "lla" is stronger. "Aayilla" roughly translates to "not yet". In this situation it meant "not done yet". Aayo? is the question (Done?). Aayi is the answer for yes (Done). Aayilla (Aayi-illa) is the answer for no (Not done). Also, 🤣The local on the top left (@8:30) is the current prime minister of India.

Yes, its true. It will be a good practice not to go alone in unknown places. Its not just in India any where in the world. For security reasons.
Among Kerala fishes I generally prefer Neymeen (King Fish). Kerala's state fish in Karimeen (Pearl Spot), which is great too but can be a tad bony.
I love the state fish, the bones are worth it😂❤
It's so wholesome to see the village gather at the teashop to watch elephants drink water❤

Anakulum literally translates to Elephant Pond. In Malayalam Ana (A pronounced similarly to the A in Apple) means elephant and Kulam means pond.
Oooh cool thanks for this. Kulam is the end to a lot of cities we are noticing here
I also think about how they found these names lasting with kuam in it. It literally doesn't make sense. May be from the past.- keralite
"curry ayila" means, curry not ready yet.
It wasn't ayela (makarrel) fish curry.
It could be tuna 🐟.... 🐟... 🐟..
