In Kerala it's not just a last few years of relationship between human and elephants but for many centuries. There are many elephants who recovered from the worst disease with the love and care given by the humans in Kerala. So there are obviously many good examples of how humans treating the elephants as their own family but those are destroying by very few bad examples. I love elephants and all living creatures ♥️
I'm from thrissur I used to visit this place every year it's only 30 minute drive from my home❤️❤️❤️❤️

Wherever PETA is and the tradition of the region is destroyed. PETA is filled with money and we people from Tamil Nadu never allow PETA in our region. Hopefully our brothers in Kerala kick this peta well!

No bro slowly but surely the traditions are falling apart, thanks to communist party. The irony is that the same keralites asked to kill wild elephants entering towns. The same keralites whom exploded the mouth of a pregnant wild elephant wants to destroy years old tradition. I don't want elephants to get mistreated but a strong law can easily solve the issue.
@Mr. Lyou got me wrong brother, I was talking about those people, who want to leave domesticed elephants in wild. Already Kerala with its confined space can't hold the existing wild elephants. Also the mouth bombing of pregnant elephant was unfortunate, it happened because the elephant happened to come to human inhabited area. In between keralites asked for electric barricades to save their farms from wild elephants entering town.
I was more concerned with the trissur pooram as it have more backlash from the leftist activists in India. You could find articles of leftist liberals wanting to destroy a tradition which you can't see anywhere in the world.
Elephants do not need humens to live but humens need them.Imagine yourself standing with a shackles on your leg for 75 years!!!

Elephants here in kerala are treated as Gods but i agree that some people use them for festivals which cause harm for them,but most of the people love them so much .There are elephants which are like celebrates.Elephants also love us .I have seen tears coming from an elephants eyes when his care taker have died .There are many elephants who recovered from diseases only because of human care . We love Elephants so much ❤❤❤

u should come to thrissur temple and see the anna ottam (elephant race) and other kerala temple elephant activities
One thing everyone should be thinking about is .....all other animals are as equal as elephants ...they also have same emotion ..killing and eating other animals which are not as cute and beautiful as elephants (usually as people think) and feeling sad for elephants is not fair ..
Jus sit and relax ..- think about for 10 min

Next day go and kill tigers and lions for being carnivorous and killing other animals like bruh this is natural selection and nature is not always friendly to species as u think and killing animals for food is no problem unless you are making a lot of animals just for eating , have you ever heard about food chain in the first place?
In evolutionary standard if u killing animals just for eating food then u are okay but you should not produce lot of animals just for eating

I am from Kerala. Those who say that the captive elephants are leading a horrible life seperated from there family is wrong, because in India usually the elephants in forest live almost 50 to 60 years max but those elephants which are grown by the people live for almost 85 to 95 years. They are treated very well. Kerala is one of the place which treats elephants as god.
One another thing is that some are saying captive elephants should be send back to the forest . This is utter foolishness. As I have also worked as a mahot for an elephant I know elephants character very well. The wild elephants will not accept the elephants from outside as the elephants in captivity will be having smell of humans in them . Elephants are really sensitive animals and they can understand that. So the wild elephants will not allow the other elephants to join their team and they will also attack the elephant
These fraud PETA activists took an female elephant named Lakshmi away from her temple... she was so depressed that she would not eat anything at so called PETA care center. Later the temple fought case and citizens did online campaign and finally Lakshmi was brought back to her temple! If you just see the video of her coming back to temple... you will realize how much she loved coming back “Home” ! Maybe react to that video.

Still in wild they are much in danger than as a pet. There are many incidents of trapping them for tusks even killing them or falling them in well or pit. It finally comes to this Human treatment towards them.

I didn't understand the animal activist's position. Because of some middlemen mistreating elephants, the solution is to abolish an ancient tradition and festival? The temple people don't treat the elephants badly right? If so then create an envoirnment where there's no middlemen needed instead of saying "abolish the tradition". So foolish.
