The 79 series, the only solid axle rig I have seen that wheel lifts like an IFS up front XD
No one talks about the hero that organises the recovery, pulls the winch out, fixes it etc. What a legend./
Having seen the way Barney used to send it on 4wd Action... I'm surprised it's his first roll over! Glad no one was injured. Another top video. Will have to do some wheeling around Coffs next time we visit pebbly beach
Haven't seen Barney since he was on 4WD 24/7. He's still the man!
The wheel base on 79 series are too narrow, and they become top heavy when they put boxes on the tray. They just aren't suitable for hard tracks
A farm truck isn't suitable for any hard track. But hey there popular for all the wrong reasons. Ohhh did I just talk about a land snoozer oops
Depends on how they are set up, and driven too. But agree there are better vehicles than a 79 for tracks like Jeepand Steps track for sure. But doesnt mean the 79 cant do it. But yeah they are better suited to other uses. Like touring
I think the driver may well have been at fault here. “Sending” is not by any means the best way to deal with all conditions. Then again, if you don’t really care about your car it does make for a cool video.
Great vid as per usual. Good to see Gary and the MUX mixing it with the big boys. Very different range of personalities on this one.

One of advantages of just you and your dad or you n Demi on trips vs the whole convoy to get through sections and how much time It adds to your time on the tracks. Great vid as usual 👍
yep, that's one of the reasons we usually stick to a small group/go by ourselves! it is good to do this now and then for something different though but definitely takes a lot more time!

They Just Love to Tip over those 79's Luckily it went over slowly (spiced up the trip a bit hahaha). Another great video mate and glad you all had a great time. Great work. Like to see the crew drive Carnage track and Roll all those 79's Hahaha
In the last 2 years alone I've seen 3 79 series roll on their side they have too narrow wheel track width even narrower in rear and too top heavy specially when loaded up... the 79's are good touring vehicle's but not very good for tougher tracks.

Barney is unlucky and lucky. Unlucky to have a rollover. But if you had to have a rollover, he was lucky it rollovered the way he did. That Jimny is a little weapon.
When/were I like to go is winching areas it's always the best and hard track and if you make it without winching it's a massive feet and comradely is at its best every one working together to get you with no damage
Was hoping the Bloke who broke his side step would of started up at Barney when he Rolled, yeah I know a fella who sells land cruiser panels real cheap I’ll have him get ya some in a jiffy 😂
Maybe leave Barney home next trip🙊 all the gear and No idea😜

Every video I've seen of those 79's I can't believe people still buy those thing's, shaped like an oversized roof tile and featuring 1970's technology.

Yota 79's are the roll over series. Driving in a group is good but is usually slow if waiting for less capable rigs & or drivers.

I'm not through yet, thus I don't know the outcome, yet I heard some one calling "switch it off" and/or "turn the engine off" after the pick up truck decided to take a rest on its right hand side. I don't hear anyone calling "pull the hand brake full on". Thus 1 right (engine off) one bad (brakes unclear).
So he didn’t actually lose brakes then? Anyways even if you have brakes and in that situation 79s just love to roll
