After a long day at work, its always a joy to kick back and watch your videos. You radiate positivity and have such a friendly persona that I can relax to. Thank You. Cheers from Singapore.
The rock line is from a dozer ripper, ploughing in fibre optic cable . Fibre replaced the microwave system, the towers for which can still be found in places between Ceduna and Norseman. Enjoyed the video…as usual.
Yes, that was what I was going to suggest as well. I remember crossing the Nullarbor back in the early 2000's and they were ripping a line then. Love your vids mate, keep traveling safe
@@RoadTrainAdventures 😂 yeah. This is an old profile when I actually did a lot of bush work. These days it's not really appropriate, but not sure how to change it - plus some know me as this! Tipper work, as you know, is mostly medium distance, these days!
Did a bit of digging around and apparently 5 million years ago, slightly before my time, the Nullarbor was once well forested with Gum and Eucalyptus trees. Now it's a "treeless saltbush shrubland" and also the largest expanse of limestone on the planet. Now it has an average rainfall of 250mm, down from 480mm which could go some way to explaining its current state. In 2016, the Uni of Melbourne did some research into all the above. Coming from the Red Center, I love the wide open spaces of "nothing" - which to some of us really isn't "nothing". Driving across them really reinforces the scale of this continent and you get to see the changes in topography, vegetation and of course population density and all that entails! BTW - the drone footage at 9:00 (near the Scenic Lookout No 3) and the music is stunning and mesmerising. Beautifully produced! Cheers - Dave

Great video Johnno! Loved seeing all the different vistas along the way, and the different terrain. Your drone shots are truly wonderful too. Thank you !
Hi mate - these are cracking videos and thank you for the almighty effort you put into making them. This is gold for me - always dreaming of the open road, just like my dad, who took our family on long trips all the time (we used to live near Alice Springs, so everywhere was a long trip!). Since then, the missus and our kids have done huge (up to 15,000km) 4wd camping trips along with my oldies in their 4wd. Every state has its beauty, the little remote towns are fabulous to visit and walk around, and the people are real - their eyes and their mouths say the same thing. We lost dad sadly last year, but his legacy lives on. He and mum have visited more little towns in the whole of Australia than anyone I know over decades of travelling and camping. We still take mum camping with us, which is lovely. Anyway - loving your drives mate. I'm looking at doing some long distance car/truck ferrying, some motorbike touring again and you've inspired me to try harder to get away from the big smoke and hit the road more often. @@RoadTrainAdventures hey Johnno, we both in the same industry six years I know about being time poor!!!! Just heard your ventures with the Canadian Bloke. Great VDA to you both be errors dictating by Siri.
As usual another really interesting video Johnno. My late husband was an artic driver in and around Europe. I often travelled with him when my work allowed. Your videos give a really good insight into truck life in Australia and it's great you also show the country side that you drive through the plus super drone footage, and the road houses you stop at. Happy and safe travels, Gail Czech Republic ❤️
Great footage. I am enjoying seeing the Nullarbor, roadhouses between S.A and W.A. Travelling that way in September. First time travelling the Nullarbor by motorcycle. Also good to see you choose to eat healthier meals and out of the truck and exercising, You're an inspiration to other truck drivers.
Ditto on your comment for me too Leanne. Fellow motorcyclist here and I'm very envious of your Nullarbor crossing in Sep. Is it going to be a loop of the island and are you likely to share your adventures with those of us less fortunate (stuck at home)?? 😀 I'm always thinking of short 3/4 dayers out of Sydney on my little Ninja 1000, pack the tent, out to places like Mudgee, Young, Walcha etc. and have done the odd trip with my son or daughter on the back (they're 14 and 12). Anyway - good luck with your travels and know that in Sydney, there is someone living vicariously though adventurers like you! Cheers, David
That was great. Also great parts of the country. And than thinking about and remember all those vids and live scenes's you made in between, for your members. Things behind the scene. In my mind conecting them into this one. Thats amazing. In all your vids i have seen more parts where you drove, where Ken drove. Thats fun. Thank you Johnno. I m sure we all enjoyd it again.
Hey John. Sounds like the Nullarbor has been treeless for quite some time, given that the word "Nullarbor" means "No tree" in English. I think there are a couple of reasons the area is has few trees. One is the soil composition which is predominantly limestone-based, which by nature has poor water retention and few nutrients. Also the high temps and high winds keeps the landscape low. Another great video. Cheers and safe travels
Oh man if I had a wok box on my route I’d be in trouble. Those exposed rocks look like a ripper line from a dozer, maybe a farmer tried ripping up rabbit boroughs a while ago, it dosent look fresh. Ha ha the Main Street in Cobar. At least it looks like the sandwiches are made there. I would have cracked the top of the salad to smell if the hams turned. And those egg slices are going straight out the window lol. I’ve never had a good experience with those coffee machines, I don’t know if it’s the long life milk or the coffee they use. I’d does keep you awake, but not because of the taste. You’d do half a k just walking around the train checking tyres wouldn’t you? My families coming and I haven’t seen them in six weeks, the commitment and sacrifice of Aussie truckies so you have your clothes, food and everything else in your life delivered for you. Great work John, a fantastic video.
Awesome. Thanks again Brad. People say that ripper line is the line where they laid the fibre optic cable along. I'm not so sure. Yes the salads are very nice at Cobar. I wish they had more Wok in a Box but I'm pretty sure they're only in South Australia and WA.
@@RoadTrainAdventures I doubt it was the fibre optic line, it wouldn’t of been left in that state after its removal if it was even removed, most services remain in the ground after they are stopped being used only for someone to gig them up 10 years later and shit themselves because they think they just hit a Telstra cable or gas pipe.
Awesome video Johnno absolutely enjoyed the ride I’d never been in to that part of NSW was great to see and the drone footage was brilliant thank you for sharing your experiences Johnno very much appreciated 👍

Thank you Johnno for a great video of your travels across the Paddock to Coffs Harbour, a real shame I didnt get to meet you but I hope we do one day. Stay Safe. See You !!!
G'day Johnno, Another cool vid cobber, its always great to hit the road n get around the country a bit . As for the lack of trees , Now im only guessing , but id reckon there's quite a few things that stop trees growing out there . Initally ,when OZ split away from the Artic it was to cold for trees ,but over time with continental drift, climate warmed but its still very much a desert as is the Artic. Also the winds and salt content comming from the Bight dont help ,poor soils (limestone) and a lack of certain bird life would also stop seeds migrating and germinating , so even with millions of years passing , conditions generally arent what promote the growth of trees . Finnally Johnno, the aliens needed wood for their coffee tables & to have a BBQ , being as the MEGA FAUNA were so large , it took a lot of wood to cook a feed ,so any trees that did manage to grow were quickly ripped out for firewood. So there were only a few trees left scattered about , the few different tribes of nomadic Aboriginals walking about turned most of the last of the wood into boomerangs , spears & woomeras, now with about 19 trees left , an enterprising youg indigenous lad started making didgeridoos, and thats why there's no more trees out that way . Keep them comming Johnno. Respect.....!
Some very good theories there Craig. The limestone seems to be one that others are agreeing too to. As for the aliens.... That may be true for some. Ha ha

Cool video. Though the Nullabor is pretty featureless on the surface, underneath is one of the world's largest cave systems, complete with rivers and lakes.
G'day mate, are you delivering to the new by-pass ?, watching your video's is giving me itchy feet to get back behind the wheel always love trucking out west, keep it safe old mate.
So tell me Johnno, were you taking your load of pipes in to the new highway upgrade. I am a local trucker in Coffs Harbour & end up on the highway upgrade multiple tim🎉es each week. You may be interested to know that the council closed the Jetty for a day or 2 this week due to rough seas!
Hi John I'm puzzled as to why to why you travel north of Perth before heading east through the wheat belt via Koorda, Bencubbin and Mukinbudin rather than going directly east via Great Eastern Hwy? I've noticed you take the same same route in other videos you have posted in previous episodes. I too drive trucks and don't have any issues with using Great Eastern Hwy. Keep up the good work and great videos. It is a pleasure to watch.
I can road train straight out going that way. Going via Great Eastern Hwy I have to dig fun to Northam them back to Perth. It's 60km less driving going my way.
Enjoy your videos👍 Curious as to why you take the long route from Port Augusta to Peterborough, as you will save time and distance going via Wilmington and Orroroo
@@RoadTrainAdventures thanks now i know. I have travelled over there many times and i have wondered that. Thankyou for enlightening me. Bravo from Victoria Australia
I just read that why there is no trees in Nullarbor ,largely because the soil is a thin layer of concrete overlying a limestone Karst. Potential evaporation is more than ten times rainfall in central parts, and twenty times rainfall in the north
Hey Johno what a great video and I also did like the intro and just one question the area that you went into at that Truck Stop and showed the camera around is that just for truck drivers
Same as the Pilbara ,that's treeless. Can ya find any Death Adders hiding under the bushes & give us a close-up?? This show has the potential to turn out better than the Leyland Brothers!
@@RoadTrainAdventures That storm was looking good for you to get your kite out as well. Once it's wrapped in the power lines & cut power to whole town, ya know its time to shoot thru!
Ime not sure why no trees jonno, but the nullabor is aboriginal for “no trees or treeless Plains” so I am guessing it hasn’t had trees for thousands of years. Could be the soil types, the climate, I wish I knew too. Great video 👍
When overtaking another truck or being overtaking do you flash your headlights to say it is safe for the other driver to pull in safely in front of you
Great vid. Johnno! Was the whole load destined for Coffs Harbour? If so, did that mean a return trip to CoffsH-Tamworth-CoffsH to collect the rest of it ? Are the roads down the Great Divide from Armidale to Coffs not wide enough accommodate a two-trailer road train?
I feel for you truckies the sacrifices you give for the good of the country. Cheers to the truckies.
Thanks Len. That's very nice

Great video 👍
Thanks again Andrew
thanks for the video its the best one in are long time keep the great work up
Thanks Jamie. Yes it's been a while since I've put out a long video.
@@RoadTrainAdventures no worries mate totally understand working and driving long hours must come first
Unfortunately yes
Nice work Johnno! Limestone base with a thin layer of calcium loam/sea shells- trees can't develop root systems there. Safe travels mate😎
Thanks Dexter. Yes you're right about limestone.
Awesome videos mate
Awesome. Thanks for watching
@@RoadTrainAdventures you're welcome I watch Ken's videos too
Yes he's great. Good stuff
@@RoadTrainAdventures he sure is my uncle knows him he works at Lindsay
Oh very good
Great stuff again mate!! Thankyou!!!!
Awesome. Thanks again.
Bloody hell mate!! I never knew you were doing a collab with DownieLive. Wow hahaha can’t wait for the vid to come out!! I always watch both of you for the travel content.
Oh awesome. Are you following him on Instagram? Yes I with him now making this video.
@@RoadTrainAdventures Morning, yes!!
Very good
What can I say Johno!
Yet another great video! (I didn't skip any of it! You owe me! HAHAHA).
If you need a steerer while you film! Give me a yell 😁. I'm hopeless with a camera 🤣
Great job mate! Thank you for all that you do!
Awesome. Thanks Michael. I've always wanted to go out with someone so I can film them. It would be so much better that way.
Johnny I have no idea why the Nullarbor has no trees but there ain’t nothing better than bangers and mash with gravy 🤗
I'm with you Gary. Good stuff
Cool video. Though the Nullabor is pretty featureless on the surface, underneath is one of the world's largest cave systems, complete with rivers and lakes.
Caves under the Nullarbor. That would be cool to find. I know there are some'low holes' but I up near Caiguna. I haven't had a look at those yet.
Thanks
Thank you very much for your kind donation. I'm glad you liked the video.
You went through Cobar and it was sunny? Every time I’m there without fail rain and storms 😂 great video though
Oh Corey. Maybe I just bring the Sunshine ha ha
Great video Johnno, hope you got to Artisti Coffee Roasters, for a coffee
No I was straight out of there so I could make it home for the weekend.
@@RoadTrainAdventures ok well maybe next time you're there
Yes for sure
G'day mate, are you delivering to the new by-pass ?, watching your video's is giving me itchy feet to get back behind the wheel always love trucking out west, keep it safe old mate.
Yes that's where I delivered to but to the northern end. Right under the hills.
Yes I unloaded at the new upgrade. I didn't know they closed that jetty for a while.
Another great vid Jono , some great drone views , who’s music was that at the end , take care ! 😊
Oh yeah. I need to list all the songs. Stay tuned and I'll put them in the description. I can't do it straight away as I'm driving.
That Island at Coffs would be Mutton Bird Island John ,and the Shell at Gilgandra has never been the same since the Mclean Family sold out .
You're right about the island and that's no good about the Shell.
Nice 👍
Awesome. Thanks Eric
Hi John
I'm puzzled as to why to why you travel north of Perth before heading east through the wheat belt via Koorda, Bencubbin and Mukinbudin rather than going directly east via Great Eastern Hwy? I've noticed you take the same same route in other videos you have posted in previous episodes. I too drive trucks and don't have any issues with using Great Eastern Hwy.
Keep up the good work and great videos. It is a pleasure to watch.
I can road train straight out going that way. Going via Great Eastern Hwy I have to dig fun to Northam them back to Perth. It's 60km less driving going my way.
Enjoy your videos👍
Curious as to why you take the long route from Port Augusta to Peterborough, as you will save time and distance going via Wilmington and Orroroo
Thanks Daniel. I'm the old days we would break up and go over to Wilmington but nowadays it's quicker to road train straight around to Gladstone.
Maybe it has a lot to do with the salty mist that comes from the bite inland which stunts the tree growth. Bravo from Victoria Australia
Thanks Michael but I now know it's because of all the limestone.
@@RoadTrainAdventures thanks now i know. I have travelled over there many times and i have wondered that. Thankyou for enlightening me. Bravo from Victoria Australia
Very good
we did the so called nullarbour in June...not so much "null" as less....there's loads of bloody trees!
Near the WA boundary there are but otherwise its just shrubs.
@@RoadTrainAdventures ha yes, not called the nullashrub...
For sure
I just read that why there is no trees in Nullarbor ,largely because the soil is a thin layer of concrete overlying a limestone Karst. Potential evaporation is more than ten times rainfall in central parts, and twenty times rainfall in the north
You are right. Very good
Great show ol mate but i reckon Eddie and Frank would pay you k rate not hourly lol.Good bloke tho safe trip
Yes we get paid per kilometre.
Hey Johno what a great video and I also did like the intro and just one question the area that you went into at that Truck Stop and showed the camera around is that just for truck drivers
Yes that section is supposed to be just truck drivers.
Same as the Pilbara ,that's treeless. Can ya find any Death Adders hiding under the bushes & give us a close-up?? This show has the potential to turn out better than the Leyland Brothers!
I'll give you a closer up and show motion of the Death Adder striking at me. Ha ha. That should increase my ratings.
@@RoadTrainAdventures That storm was looking good for you to get your kite out as well. Once it's wrapped in the power lines & cut power to whole town, ya know its time to shoot thru!
Yeah you got some good ideas there. Maybe you sound so my ideas for future shows. I like it.
Rabbit poo and the line of rocks is a rip mark for another optic fibre cable.
Yes I think you're right.
Just found your channel really interesting
Awesome. Thanks Gary. It's great to have you along. Where are you from?
@@RoadTrainAdventures Northern Ireland
Oh wow. Very nice
@@RoadTrainAdventures Nice to see a bit of oz from your adventures across that massive country
That was my aim. Not just to show my truck but to showcase cool things I pass around Australia.
Good Evennig, food the on the go ,cost the same in Germany.i'm Truck Driver too .
Oh. I thought it would be cheaper there.
Ime not sure why no trees jonno, but the nullabor is aboriginal for “no trees or treeless Plains” so I am guessing it hasn’t had trees for thousands of years. Could be the soil types, the climate, I wish I knew too. Great video 👍
Keep an eye on the comments
Someone is bound to have the answer.
I didn’t know the aboriginals spoke Latin. You learn a new thing every day.
Ha ha
When overtaking another truck or being overtaking do you flash your headlights to say it is safe for the other driver to pull in safely in front of you
I only do if it looks like he can't work out how long his truck is.
👍👍👍
👍👍👍
a dozer drops the ripper will leave a mark like that
Yes that could be it.
Great vid. Johnno! Was the whole load destined for Coffs Harbour? If so, did that mean a return trip to CoffsH-Tamworth-CoffsH to collect the rest of it ? Are the roads down the Great Divide from Armidale to Coffs not wide enough accommodate a two-trailer road train?
Yes both trailers were for Coffs Harbour so I had to go back over that mountain twice. It's not road train route.
Mate: you have my utmost admiration!@@RoadTrainAdventures
@@denism2171 Very nice. Thanks heaps
