Hey mate, that's my father-in-law Jim driving the harvester! He was telling us about you running across the paddock to hitch a ride 😅 Didn't take long to find once he told us you were on RUclips. Great video and nice to see some of his knowledge being shared 👍🏼 Hope you had fun!
Oh awesome. I wasn't sure if he would find it but great stuff. Yes it was fun. I just wish we both weren't in such a rush so we could get some better footage but I had to move on.
Most city folk would find the harvesting of crops an interesting Vlog, another great vlog, love the background music and of course the drone shots , ❤️🦘🦘🦘🇦🇺
Kept me captivated from start to finish. Interesting to see another industry and hear from the farmer. Great work Johnno! The drone flying through the trees above the river was a bit scary though :D
Hi Johnno, that wheat belt footage was great. I was born in the wheat belt, Bruce Rock in 1959. Now live in Mildura and can’t tell you how much I miss WA. I’m a retired offshore rig tender master, looking for something to do and that harvesting work really sounds like a good thing to do….
What a space and freedom. How far you can see. And so much peace. The litle towns always look amazing. Intresting that harvest part. Never seen it from the inside.
@@RoadTrainAdventures Realy. Just great. Just get out of the truck and sayd to the farmer. Tell us abouth it. hahaha. Very good interview. As if you had known each other for years.
Always look forward your videos John. This was another great one. "Only going to Adelaide so it's short trip" 2500kms 🤣. In a similar distance in Europe you would have traveled through 850 countries!! Hope your rib is healing ok mate. Cheers.
🤣 How did you wrangle the joy ride Johnno.? I did a short stint in an old John Deere header. Didn't go much on it. You're doing a great job there teaching the peeps about our country.😎😍
Hey, Johnno. Fantastic piece of work again. Thank you for all the insights (incl. harvester - never saw this before) and all the informations. Take care mate. 👍🐺🙂
Lovely footage. And a nice deviation from trucking. Farming is a great way of life. I grew up around dairy. Went to Ag college. And finished up in construction. Worse job. Usually more money. The first combines I went on as a kid in the 60s. The header was so small you could drive it down the street with the header still on. Now look at them.
Really enjoyed this video. Great information about the towns. I'm interested in the town populace be it in its hay day to now! Drone footage was great, but the music really made it for me. I went further to search the artists and download some of their other tracks.
I love the little history bits you do on those small towns. Geez that header looked like it was nearly in road gear, 😂must have been a lightish crop. Great video
1961 I was 6. Dad had a pull type combine that someone had to sit on and put the grain in burlap bags. I could tie the bags and then roll them on a chute that held 3 then you'd trip to pile. Just remembering that when I saw the dust involved.
David Hunn Well, that certainly was different...and interesting. Going back to what the harvester operator was saying about the difference between backpackers and grey nomads, there would be countless ex truckies and plant operators cruising around the country and mechanical sympathy is just second nature to them.
The big difference with operating machinery like that and trucks is you are dealing with width not length. The front on that header was over 40’ wide and he was going quickly. There is a lot to keep an eye on both in front and in the machine itself. Your head will spin. He was making it look easy just as Johnno does in his truck. Put a green horn on a header and it will cost big bucks in no time if they have no experience and are not very careful. That crop was good going, get into a heavy crop that has gone down in rocky country or has had a flood over it and it is a bit different. Jeff
@terrenceodgers5866 Why don't the instruments of a 'plane' take into account the curving of earth? Why don't railways line dip for the curving, why is all instruments say it's flat when engineers build these? 11,000 metres looking out of a concave screen, it will look curved, yes
I speak from experience - re - cockpit access at 11,000 metres. The curvature is unmistakable out of the flat front windows of Boeing 747. As for rail lines - the horizon is only as far as the height one is elevated at. Even looking out at Echo Point near Katoomba on a clear day, will reflect the Earth's curvature, to those who can be honest with themselves. Are you referring to guidance instruments? All guidance instruments are set to true north and align themselves from that setting so aircraft and shipping will always be guided toward their destination without fail.
How many years have you been Driver your Truck.????? I drove for 32 years local of course you looked like you are having fun in between loads.!!!!!!!!!
Another great vlog boss would love to travel out to OZ soon and meet your good self and out of curiosity how much Diesel does your tanks hold as they look huge but keep up these great vlogs 😊😊😊
Be good if you can explain the difference between some of the Kenworth trucks like the T909 seems to be the top but others below look similar besides the cab over trucks. Is just the wheel base or pulling power. As some have the same x15 Cummins as well. Cheers
I was to go do some harvest work last month here in Qld but I'm here with my old mate and he ask me to stay while it was dry here. Now it's rain and we not feeding cattle. I should go and do a little. Maybe drive a truck.
@@RoadTrainAdventures it all ok. I'm a old guy now. But still move around and drive and operated tractors. As a pensioner now. I get cash jobs. Which is helpful. And I get to meet new people like you. That the best part.
That's a big head on that harvester. 30 feet? I grew up on a rice and wheat ranch in Northern California. In an area called the Sutter Basin. We had John Deere 95's and 105 combines. A 12 foot head was big then.
Also meant to mention that I drove trucks for 40 years on the west coast. Started out as an owner/operator and eventually had a small company with 12 tractors and about 30 assorted trailers. We did mostly oil field work and heavy haul.
