Mitch's Hilux - he's in the process of getting it sorted but pretty sure it was a kink in the inner rack end where the pivot point is and was popping inward under load then popping back out when not.
Stupid lift on the front of the Hilux. Has zero down travel, no articulation (not that IFS have much anyway). Not surprised the wheel was wobbling about, the triangulation of parts that normally hold it are way out of their geometry.
Great video again. Hope you manage to keep producing this brilliant content. I am always happy when I open RUclips and see that you have dropped another adventure. Hopefully companies keep getting behind you to help make it affordable for you to do this. Never seems to be enough of these good shows ready to watch.
Loved your videos! Love that camp spot. One of my favourite spots for an afternoon swim. Definitely not that low at the moment! Thank you for keeping it a secret! I remember that season the cicadas were deafening! I used to take my xtrail to the spot just past deep hole on the trail but they have blocked the track now.
Well done Tyler. Looks like the nav is turning into a very competent vehicle with your mods. Hats off to your dad as well. Nice effort with open differentials. Your vids I getting better every episode. Cheers
Thanks again mate for Part 2 and great to see the mighty Navara going beautifully on these tough tracks !! Not to mention also pulling a few other vehicles out of a spot of bother !! Great stuff as always mate !!
Big tip for your followers if they’re first time pebbly visitors, don’t use your handbrake when you park or it’ll stick. I go to pebbly heaps, a neat trick is to squirt some fresh water into your drums to give it a little flush and also a good bath when you get home. I’ve always done this and never had an issue. Another great vid. There’s so many tracks around coffs that are less than 20 mins from my house but I haven’t driven them in years. There’s a sick one off mount Coramba that’s probably over grown now. I’m going to have to go check it out one arvo or weekend.
Great job Mate. i loved this series. Well done getting all of the video, running up and down all those hills must have stuffed you each day. Well done.
Another good one Tyler, Shads truck looked in trouble there in the creek. Just wondering are you thinking of coming to the drifta camping event at Cobark this year? Cheers Steve
Great videos as always mate, I camped in the exact same site at Pebbly Beach a year or so ago, great little spot. The new Navara looks the business so far, I guess my concern over the front springs was ill-founded thankfully.
Nice 👍 That 1st river crossing had me thinking of your 2nd battery behind the rear seat. It was the passenger side that went in deep, did you check to see if water got to the battery and electricals ? Cheers...
4BnewB what about people that have there second battery under bonnet, not sure I understand what your getting at. My second battery is under bonnet and gets wet all the time . Cheers 🍻
Shad Donaghue Hi Shad, mine is under the bonnet also. I was more thinking of Tyler’s set low behind his rear seat and the passenger side going into the water quite deep. I might be wrong , I would have thought it sits there quite a bit lower than in an engine bay. Not sure? Batteries can get wet , but a bit different if it is submerged with all the surrounding electricals like the DC2DC charger ?
4BnewB yeah, most dcdc chargers are waterproof as most people are putting them under bonnet, not sure about the kickass one. Every thing should be fuse protected anyway in case of a situation like that I suppose. 👍
Another great video! I thought it was very funny when the 76 just wanted to sink into that creek! It is very sad to see the MUX struggling at times, maybe you could convince your Dad to put on lockers. Or even hit up your new sponsors and see if they'll do it! We were in Pebbly Beach mid January, just before the rains hit. It was still empty then too. Great spot though.
Thanks mate! Yep he wants to at least get a rear one when he can, he just can't really afford it at the moment so would be good if someone gave him one haha
Yeah price is a hindrance. I've heard good things about 'Lokka' auto lockers, especially for the front in ifs vehicles. We've got an Mux and it's usually a front wheel that lifts first. And Lokkas are cheap compared to other types. 4wd action did a good segment on them.
Yeah I did actually see that, I'm just not sure how I feel about them automatically locking themselves in and out when wheel spin is sensed, rather then you being able to lock them in yourself when need be. So your already going to start losing traction before it decides to lock itself. And then if the front keeps locking itself on hills climbs you are going to be losing some of your steering constantly. And then you also can't use them on downhills (I find the rear locker a big help going down hills). But yeah I don't know haha I'm sure they are good, they would definitely be better then no locker. I just personally reckon I'd rather save the extra and get an air locker or e locker
Actually they work by being locked by default (only in 4wd though) and they unlock when going around corners - the mechanism is sensitive to the different torques sent from the wheels when going around the corner. Very clever actually. And they do work when going down hill too. I read a lot about them online cause I want one, almost no one who put one on their IFS has a bad thing to say about them.
Another great vid. Gotta do coffs one day. IMO the Hilux has too big a lift in the front. He has very little to no downward travel and ends up in 2wd because of it. He also runs the risk of popping CVS as they are very weak. My 2 bobs worth
Enjoy all your videos including the cooking segments. You just might want to review your choice of campsites considering the catchment area of that watercourse. Whatever the weather, stay away from a watercourse.
Hey Tyler Genuine question /statement Is it wise to put on video a salt water crossing in case of any future warranty claims? I don't t think anyone would miss it if you decided not to film those parts Love your work- probably my fav channel
Hey mate, thank you! To be honest if Nissan wanted to start that fight with me about warranty I wouldn't able to put up so much footage haha. For example the D23 Navara's have a very low factory water wading depth due to electronics (think its only 400mm) so any water crossing I've ever done and filmed that is up around the top of the tyres or higher they could void warranty. And they could try and argue and void warranty for some of the mods I've done to. The list goes on, there's so many things they could try and void warranty for so I'm better off just forgetting about it and hope the best haha I always had everything covered under warranty on the last one so hopefully have the same luck
It's a tricky one eh? I think what Tyler's video highlight just how capable the Navara is. I've seen hundreds of comments of "wow I'm impressed the Nav can do ". I reckon whatever warranty claim costs (if any) vs. The good will, brand exposure, hundreds of thousands of engaged views, heavily outweighs any costs or even negative publicity if they were to deny a claim. More so, I'm surprised they don't run any branded ads on his videos. That's what I'd be doing if my agency was running their ads anyway!
Nice work 👍 great vids. How did the snatch block go? U think it would be easy to manage if u were alone? Does the rope stay in the groove without any tension on it? Can’t wait for the Tassie series. Thanks
Thanks mate! It would definitely be easy on your own with a wireless winch remote (i have one of them), if you had the standard winch remote that is hooked to the control box with a lead then I'm not sure if it would be tricky or not, I'd have to give it a go and see. The rope seems to stay in the groove pretty well though when you're setting up so should be all good
Hey Tyler, when you were winching up that hill I noticed you put the safety blanket over the hook of the winch, as they do on 4wd action, But I've always thought you were supposed to put the blanket on the winch line maybe a third of the way along, so if the shackle or whatever breaks and the hook wants to shoot back at you, the blanket catches the hook and drops it down. In your set up it looks like the hook might just slip straight through the blanket and come right at you. Or am I missing something lol? Also where you camped on pebbly beach the people in the white wrangler are friends of mine, he custom built that camper trailer himself! Hope they weren't too loud for ya haha
Hey mate, the biggest reason to do that is the hook holds the blanket in place, if you put the blanket further down the rope on a steep hill it will just slide straight back down the rope to the car and then be completely useless. And when its over the hook and shackle (we also use the soft shackles which are a lot safer) it should make a big difference with them flying back towards the 4wd, if something was to break right there it should send them down to the ground. Oh really, thats pretty cool! Na they weren't too loud haha
Great video Tyler, very exciting!!! I am a happy follower!!! I have an automatic Navara D231 which does not have any lockers rear or front. I am considering to put one to the rear. I have a couple of questions that I could not find any answers on the internet. What kind of locker does Nissan use as a stock? Do you have any idea about the made? You said the traction control works in front while the rear diff is locked. So do you think it is going to work the same way with aftermarket locker too?
Thank you! I wish I could be more help but to be honest I don't really know. The locker is some sort of mechanical/e-locker but thats all i really know and not sure if the traction control system would still work the same with an aftermarket locker
Bit late now, but when you nearly got submerged crossing the bush creek I noticed two dangers. First, ‘Kai was in the back and second, you put your seat belt on. Just saying mate. ⚠️⛔️🙏🏽🙏🏽🦘🦘
Hi guys!!! I've already left a comment but just want to throw this out there, if you guys haven't seen the video of Shad Donaghey (Behind the scenes with Tyler Thompson ) you have to see it, do yourself a favour and take a look. Cheers everyone 👍✌
Seems to be around 12L per hundred average for a mix of offroading and road driving mate. I think the biggest downside of the Hilux compared to the Navara is when he you put the rear diff lock in the front traction control turns off in the Hilux whereas it stays on in the Navara.
Hey Tyler awesome vid once again! Just had a question with the fire ban I always thought you weren't allowed to use the gas cookers either? Or is it cos you're by the creek you're allowed to? Cheers
Hey mate, thank you! Im not 100% sure on the technicalities of it but I'm fairly certain that its only the extreme 'total fire ban days' where you aren't allowed the gas cooker, whereas at that time it was just a general fire ban for outdoor fire use and so still allowed gas cookers etc.
Nothing wrong with it. It highlights some of what you feel when you're actually there. It gives us other viewers who see what he's really using slo mo for, a peak moment in the drive. Think of creating interest, not what it "sounds" like. Good content mate👍🏽👌🏽

Great video again.

That was brilliant mate loved the water crossing your dad's truck did really well 👍
Thanks mate!

(Awesome is an understatement) X 2
One for part one as well.
Well done mate. I wish to see that you get rewarded for you efforts.
Thanks mate! greatly appreciated :)
Well done Tyler. Looks like the nav is turning into a very competent vehicle with your mods. Hats off to your dad as well. Nice effort with open differentials. Your vids I getting better every episode. Cheers
Thanks mate, appreciate it :)
A great 👍 view as always, some pretty steep hills you concurred enjoyed watching, looking forward to some footage of your recent Tasmania trip.
Cheers mate! Taste trip is coming up next :)

Tyler Thompson we should catch up for some 🍺 and wheelin.
Great job Mate. i loved this series. Well done getting all of the video, running up and down all those hills must have stuffed you each day. Well done.

Bloody hell, some of those hill climbs mate... Kudos to you guys, I would chicken out for sure
Cheers mate 👌
aww miss this place, my home for many great years of exploring...
Nice work mate. That traction control reacts fast in the front. Pretty impressive on those steep climbs.
Thanks mate! Yep pretty happy with how well it works
your videos are top notch. now im going to coffs for a long weekend as a tester for a big trip all because of your vids.
Thanks mate! Glad you're enjoying them :)
Great work Tyler. Good call opting for the winch on that sketchy hill.
Cheers mate, yep didn't feel like rolling it haha
Everything about this vid was awesome. Well done mate 👍🏼
Thanks mate!
Awesome awesome stuff Tyler mate, you always put in a lot of effort into your video's and the end results are Top quality, well done mate 10/10 👍👍👍✌
Thank you! Appreciate the feedback :)
Very true, those camera view can be very decieving, i experience it myself in lost city.
Another good one Tyler, Shads truck looked in trouble there in the creek. Just wondering are you thinking of coming to the drifta camping event at Cobark this year? Cheers Steve
just parked mate 😉
@@shaddonaghue Just washing inside lol
Yeah we might end up there mate, see whats going on at the time
Tyler Thompson would be good to say hi
Big effort from the old man on the last hill ....great vid mate.
Thanks mate! Yep he did well
Awesome trip, got some new tracks on my bucket list.
Plenty of great tracks around there
Good call on the winch, safety first.
Yep didn't want to roll it haha
good tip bro next time when camping have a look at other peoples setups for camping, and there 4x4 drive setups😎
Great videos as always mate, I camped in the exact same site at Pebbly Beach a year or so ago, great little spot. The new Navara looks the business so far, I guess my concern over the front springs was ill-founded thankfully.
Thanks mate! Yep I'm super happy with the Ironman suspension so far, haven't had any issues with it and works really well
great vid Tyler, had to subscribe, keep up the top vids
Appreciate it, cheers!
Awesome vid Tyler, tough tracks😧...👊
Thanks mate, sure were!
These videos are awesome nice to have a change from 4wd action
Cheers mate
Sunday morning goodness.
Cheers mate!
I'm impressed with the MUX, that little thing is a beast.
Yep goes well!
Nice 👍

I've been on vardys, even on the motorbike I wouldn't attempt it. Well done !!
Thanks mate, yep its certainly one steep hill
Enjoy all your videos including the cooking segments. You just might want to review your choice of campsites considering the catchment area of that watercourse. Whatever the weather, stay away from a watercourse.
Change the end on the air compressor hose to a brass clip type fitting. Heaps quicker to put on as u dont have to screw it onto the valve.
Yep I've got one of them on my air compressor
Great video mate you all did very well
Thanks mate!
Another rad series...👍...Those rectangle spotlights on the bullbar are they Iron man...If not where did you get them from...
Thanks mate! Yep they are the ironman 'eclipse driving lights'
Cheers...✌...
Awesome stuff mate, great to see you out again. When are you taking the new nav to the high country?
Thanks mate! Hoping to go down there at Easter :)

Another good video mate cheers. What snorkel you running ?
Thanks mate. Its a 'Platinum Mechanical & Suspension' stainless snorkel, have the custom airbox with it too
Just found your channel. +1 sub from Canada. great quality videos.
Thank you! Appreciate it :)

It sure is capable.

How come old mates 79 is on P plates??
His son Ryan was driving some of it and is on his P's
Go little Thomo
Nice
Can you please, please, stop doing the slow mo stuff. It sounds like shit and for the viewer, is better to watch it in real life👍
Nothing wrong with it. It highlights some of what you feel when you're actually there. It gives us other viewers who see what he's really using slo mo for, a peak moment in the drive.
