is it just me. I actually enjoy this type of video more than just a collector that has a gazillion watches.. I love how this guy is so connected to a particular watch that he can tell a meaningful story behind it. like the arnold palmer episode was awesome too
Love this series. Love or dislike this watch, it seems to 'fit' this gentleman very well. If he were wearing, say, an AP ROO it just wouldn't represent him so well. I love when the man and the watch are in parity.
Can we appreciate that he owns a classic men’s suit boutique called “The Armoury”? On so many levels, this is an incredibly powerful and exhaustive encapsulation of what his company provides. My inner marketing nerd is throwing his hands in the air.
I would love to see more of these videos about a man or woman and their connection to the watch they chose. They are short, well articulated, and just fascinating to hear the perspective of others. If I'm ever in New York, I'll be dropping by this store, it looks exquisite! Hopefully by then I'll own a Tank and strike up a conversation with Mark :)
Finally, i found a high quality youtube channel about watches with great video editing. Although, if you have a marketing team is doing a terrible job. I was looking for way long to find you guys and you deserve much more subscribers and views to your videos. Underrated channel
yeah its amazing how taste can change in a short amount of time,my mother was giving me my grandfathers tank but I didn't take it because I thought it looked too girly at the time, now my sister has it, I never felt so stupid
2:12 I disagree with your assessment that Cartier tanks are “modern”. They’re an old design and Cartier’s entire marketing angle for these pieces is classic heritage. They are, however, timeless. Like Navy Sport coats, grey business suits, and Oxford shoes, it’ll never go out of style.
But what constitutes modern era actually started with the Edwardian era of industrialism, thus it fits the description of modern design at that time. Our understanding for "modern" look right now is more akin to futuristic
Black allegator straps with XL Tank look the best with men in any suit, especially a black suit. Sadly Cartier has for no good reason changed the alligator straps to ordinary cow leather, loosing much of its sexual appeal.
@Truthfears Guilty it is not lame. It is a fact dumbass. A reverso with an inhouse jaeger-leCoultre manual wind movement. Or a reverso wannabee with a eta movement.
Go look at the old Omega seamaster time only watches. super elegant with a great movement. Many are over 500 but you can get the occasional one at a good deal.
Feel like the guy needs to wear it a bit tighter. Looks like it just keeps sliding up and down his wrist and for sure doesn't fit comfortably under a cuff like that.
I Clog Toilets favorite watch of Mohammed Ali, what a pussy he was... or maybe manly enough to wear whatever he wants a tell you to go fuck yourself if you have an issue with it. There is nothing less manly than believing anything beside your choices makes you a man. You deserve a gold sub tho·

This guy is extremely articulate.

And extremely handsome!!!

Why? His restaurant serves dog fried in gutter oil in the next door
Nice... didn’t feel like an add. More please. Really loving the Seiko videos. My favorite brand bar none!
"Growing up, i this is a old man's watch, but now i really like it". You are an older man now, so your feelings still hold true.

Hodinkee is making strides in the quality of video they are producing. Well done.
Seeing this makes me want to go to The Armoury again.
Infinite Elgintensity holy shit I love your videos
OMG... what the hell are you doing here man?? Fucking legend right here guys.
How the hell did you end up here?
The traplord does what he wants!
Elgin I loved seeing your comment here :D!!
Cartier are beautiful pieces.

Manners maketh man.
100 hundred year timepieces people still enjoy with that beauty, I want to creat some thing beautiful like that
Beautiful watch. I bought the 2014 tank solo and it’s my favorite watch
Watch: Tank
Wear: Armoury
I see a correlation here :)

Watchfinder has great videos.
"When I was young I thought it was an old person's watch." Grows up, finds reasons why he likes the watch :')
yeah its amazing how taste can change in a short amount of time,my mother was giving me my grandfathers tank but I didn't take it because I thought it looked too girly at the time, now my sister has it, I never felt so stupid
Please do a 'My phuuucking solid GOOOLD SUB: Archibald Chesterfield III' next. God bless.
MAAANNN ONN THE MOOOOOONNNN!
Jaeger LeCoultre Grande Phucking Date, phuckaroonies!
More videos like this please
الساعة الوحيدة التي أعشقها قمة الجمال والأناقة والمتانة
Product placement done right. The watch remains in front the whole time while the actual product rubs off on the qualities of the Tank.
i prefer Santos, but Tank is a piece of art that i also admire.
Great Video... looking forward to the rest of this new series
Stunning
elegance is just for a minority
Back when Cartier used to make good watches.
My favourite Cartier, wanted one for years!
Great video, really upped the quality on this one.
Is the dial original? I have came across a basculante with no swiss made mark at 6 o clock. In fact this particular watch is made in France not swiss
Lovely video!
A very nice short film

Anyone knows the exact Reference code of this model?
Cartier Tank Basculante Ref. 2391.
@@lipoff Thank you :)
A pure ad for Cartier. What's the point? Are Hodinkee about to sell one in cahoots with them.
Very nice watch and strap too.
Respektos.

Bharath Baiju it’s called Bordeaux

Archieluxury should have a cameo
What's the brand of eyeglasses he's wearing? does anybody know?

Thanks for advice, but they do not look like banner class ones?!
Is it automatic?
It's actually manual
would rather have a reverso
@Truthfears Guilty because it is better and more heiritage
@Truthfears Guilty it is not lame. It is a fact dumbass. A reverso with an inhouse jaeger-leCoultre manual wind movement. Or a reverso wannabee with a eta movement.
@@iaido01 It's not an ETA ya dumbshit
@@lethanielsimpson641 yep you are right. It is cal 610.
Is this piece part of the CPCP (Collection Privée, Cartier Paris). It seems it.
such a classic look - anyone know a watch similar under 500?
There is a Seiko homage of the Tank. You should be able to gwt one if you search "seiko tank"
tahmid rafid Looks good, thanks!
Yep, Seiko SUP880
Go look at the old Omega seamaster time only watches. super elegant with a great movement. Many are over 500 but you can get the occasional one at a good deal.
What is the model og Tank again ? Thanks.
my grail!
Feel like the guy needs to wear it a bit tighter. Looks like it just keeps sliding up and down his wrist and for sure doesn't fit comfortably under a cuff like that.
do talking watches with ed sheeran
yooo wats up
"Sporty"
My man is delusional
Just can't warm up to this watch. I think it's too delicate looking.
Dan you can increase your own toughness to cancel it out
dirrydog Not all men are liberal limp wristers. Some men are unapologetically masculine.

Hally Potter
I could not hate that watch more.
More of a Reverso kind of guy, huh?
Nice watch, not worth the money. Rolex or grand Seiko.
This guy lost all credibility when he said Cartier's 6.10 movement, Frederic Piguet made the movement used in this watch.....
lol its not sporty.
