The way Baylan talks about 'ending the cycle' of jedi and sith and whever is in power reminds me a lot of Daenerys' will to 'crush the wheel' in GoT. However I feel Baylan's will is more founded.
Daenerys was ultimately in pursuit of a duty that hadn’t been intended for her. She was just a princess, in the beginning. But then, all of a sudden, she is (as far as she knows) the last Targaryen. So she has to assume that mantle and pursue the throne, as any Targaryen, as any conqueror would. But in the beginning, all she’d really wanted was that house with the red door.

I’m glad they are deciding to recast Baylan for the second season. Dont get me wrong, I am absolutely heartbroken by Mr Ray’s passing. But it was because of his performance that made Baylan’s character so memorable and already an iconic Star Wars character, and I dare say one of Disney’s best Star Wars creations. It would’ve been disheartening to kill off Baylan’s character when Ray brought so much to the character. I’ve seen many people say that Baylan outshines Ahsoka in her own series, and I agree. I remember that after the third episode, I was ALL IN for Baylan. I’m excited to see what is in store for his character for the future. But I am so thankful for the performance Ray gave. Im hoping that the new actor for Baylan realizes what Ray brought to the character, and pays tribute in his portrayal. Rest in peace Ray
@@lessermook7608he will be killed in the next season through the appearance of Abeloth. The focus will be on the awakening of her and most likely the son. So I guess the character of Baylan won't get that much screentime.
He felt great as a master or mentor figure, it's sad we won't get to see more, Id have thought they would have a whole series for him and his apprentice planned but it wouldn't feel right replacing this guy, leave it as that for him, as sad as it is for us that adored him in the star wars universe.
Above all the other praise for Baylan Skoll, and Ray - there's one thing about his character, and the fight scenes he is in. He uses his physical strength, which is rare among the jedi and the sith. Very few force users use anything but their force power in fighting. Baylan, like Vader and Darth Malgus use their physicality in the fight to a great degree of advantage over their opponents who mostly rely on force strength.
You know, Baylan Skoll would be the main antagonist of the Sequel Trilogy, alongside Thrawn, instead of Palpatine and Kylo Ren, as he could be considered a mix of both Qui Gon Jinn and Thanos. A Jedi who survived Order 66, however, as he learned that the Jedi were too arrogant and got involved into politics that led to their downfall, therefore he had lost faith in the order, and so he created a new order of Dark Jedi, and turned the Knights of Ren into a military force, instead of Stormtroopers. He would work with Grand Admiral Thrawn as they both have a common goal, achieving peace, so they made an alliance, renaming the former Galactic Empire into the Eclipse Reign, as their military forces are force user who used both the light and dark side of the Force.
Throughout the series I always see Baylon on the defensive in a duel like in the first half like he was conserving his energy analysing his opponent. Like through the duel i can now confirm that he is using a form mixture of primary form 3 and 5 and abit of 4 for more agression acrobatic skills
Baylan Skoll is such a menace! I was so excited of him from the very first appearance, and it's such a great loss to all that Ray Stevenson passed away. RIP Stevenson - I have no idea how season 2 could ever survive without you, if it ever makes it at all.

It's so sad we will not be able to see his further performance, he was the most interesting character since Disney bought Star Wars. And the acting makes me think he's really a former Jedi, not an actor playing it.

Possibly the only other quote/unquote charismatic and chivalrous sith ever introduced alongside Count Dooku. You're instantly invested whenever he's on screen. Though we don't know anything about him, and we only know he's to be considered a villain, you can't help but have respect for the character and the brilliant actor who plays him. We know he's bad, but there's the sense that he truly believes what he's doing is with good intentions. That, combined with his commanding presence, makes Baylan Skoll one of the best SW characters Disney has ever given us. And I hope Ray Stevenson sees that he's getting the praise he deserves.
"It didn't need to come to this, but you knew no other way" - truly the hero of the show. I hope they won't kill the character. He's the best Jedi we've seen in a decade.

Ray stevenson was the best decision for ahsoka, great actor, loved him since Thor, he passed away too soon, his legacy remains.
Hands down the greatest character Disney has produced.
In 13 mins this man temporarily restored hope in Star Wars
So ashame he passed away! He had the potential to revive Star Wars .
What a character, more depth and complexity than we've seen in a long time.
Rest in peace Ray
same. The character shouldn't end, just dont fuck it up.
Was it just me or did Baylan Skoll give anyone else Ben Kenobi vibes if he went to the dark side by A New Hope??? Such a great actor.
He was so good at this role. I wish he could see how cool this turned out to be.
Baylan & thawn should have been the original big bads of the sequels, would of worked more then what we got.
He's going at less 2% acting power. Breezing through this, effortless. His expressions, charisma, presence.
Imagine if him and Kevin McKidd were both in this. I needed to see them together again on screen one last time. THIRTHEEEEENTTTHH!!!!!!!!!
What an awesome character it's too bad that Ray didn't live to see how appreciated his work is
i love his fighting style his form and everything just resonates an old knight
This sounds like a good ass movie
Genius.
Ik this idea came from screencrush’s vid. And I can’t blame you. It’s damn great idea.
I think that’s one of the reasons we love Baytown so much
As pitches go, I’ve heard worse. (Looking at you, Theory…) I’m still happy with what we got though.
12:46 The moment when the piano beat started dropping when Baylan stopped Ahsoka mid-air was badass.
To capture love of fans with such little screen time... masterfully done by both the actor and the writing team. Rest in peace, legend, you will never be forgotten.
Everyone is shocked when a menacing 6'5 chad makes a good villain...
13:30 is an absolutely sick shot. Didn’t expect this dude to literally be grasping at understanding the big 3
He was a great addition to star wars.
🙏
This guy almost makes me want to watch this show.
Trust me my dude. This is as good as it ever got. The rest of the show is just a waste of time.
I like how they gave them orange light sabers because its similar in hue to red, it shows that they are not fully embraced in dark side, only dipping their hand in it
11:03 bit was so intense and intriguing and interesting. The idea of him being reached out by something and the idea of him like in contact with something
We just can't have nice things Dx Thank you for the only good bits of recent Star Wars other than Andor, Ray.
The best thing to come out of Ahsoka series is Baylan!
He is dark! He has great power! But he is lost, and angry! And looking for more power! It never ends well! For people like that!
May you be one with the force Ray.
RIP
Fantastic character and actor. Such a shame we will never see him again.
I remember how much I freaked when it showed him on the outstretched hand of The Father
Man this dude is bad ass wish he would have gotten more screen time
Rip Ray. We would’ve seen him become something far greater.🔥🔥🔥
Baylan will be remembered as one of the greatest Star Wars characters created. We loved to hate him but secretly rooted for him to accomplish his goal. We knew it was too good to be true. RIP Ray Stevenson.
Ray Stevenson as Baylen. Perfection! RIP My friend.
That move at 5:18 is always sexy....his ability to simply but effectively block blasters mixed with his rock-solid strong stance makes him a very threatening force without him needing to utter a single word or make flashy moves. His aura could push you away as if the very air around him turned into a cat 5 hurricane windforce. RIP Stevenson - I have no idea how season 2 could ever survive without you, if it ever makes it at all.
Those orange colored sabers are badass and it shows that he is a Grey Jedi he may not bleed his kyber crystal red but he is balance in his dark side also Baylan's fit is clean it sucks the actor passed away if only we could see more of him
He really sells Djem So so good. You feel as if every strike takes immense power just to block.
I see you are one of the initiated. One who recognizes the individual styles. Very impressive
*Flourishes green lightsaber in formal salute before entering Shii Cho Stance
Pray tell, what is your preferred style?
Such a amazing written and acted character, RIP Ray Stevenson!
RIP, you absolute Unit.
After Darth Vader, Baylon remains the only likable villian ark in star wars.
His character was the only part about this show I enjoyed. He was a pretty well written and acted villian in a very rushed show. Sad to hear we wont see more of him.
It's so sad we will not be able to see his further performance, he was the most interesting character since Disney bought Star Wars. And the acting makes me think he's really a former Jedi, not an actor playing it.
Was such a great addition, may he rest in peace. Loved his aura but I also loved his gestures when deflecting blasters. It so unsettling and unique. Like robotic but flows with rhythm of an well experienced warrior
I love how distinct they make his fighting style and just presence in general
God I’m glad we got to see this performance from Ray when we did 😢. He did a fantastic job playing Baylon in this series. I wish we knew what he was looking for. RIP.
Baylan Skoll...one of the best characters Disney will ever introduce thanks to their incompetence everywhere else. May Ray RIP.
Looks like Baylan Skoll is preparing to create a new dark Jedi Order
R.I.P Ray Stevenson
Ray had a great stage presence. I loved him in Rome and always found that he added a few points to anything he was in.
