@@JeremiahAlphonsus yeah, I live in the Canary Islands, in Spain (the european “hawai”) and also here locals do the same, a 1m (3ft) wave is way past overhead…
@@hunterdavis3003 I know. This is part of the ridiculous macho thing I mentioned. It’s the face that is surfed, not the back. And even when they measure from the back, they still call it smaller than it really is.
how can you compare a totally different board from a different shaper to test jon pyzel theory? lol that makes no sense bc obviously there is something special about the board pyzel shaped for JJF
Looks like the AM2s were too much fin for that board on the smaller stuff. Looked sticky. I would imagine a 1 board quiver would still require a bit of adjustment with the fins. A fin with a bit more release would have looked good at Hale'iwa.
The Gilmore title was BS. Rank 5 surfers should not get shots at titles. Sorry. Riss should’ve won it it based on the point system that has set the title standard for a long time. How many seasons did Slater end up in top 5 with no chance at a title? By this new lowered woke bar that was set, we must give Kelly 20% more titles for every year he qualified in the top 5. But realistically, we would likely have to give Kelly 50% more titles because his odds of winning are probably better than the average 1 in 5! It’s a shame that WSL has ruined what it means to win a title by cheapening the system despite precedent!! Love Steph, but she’s only an 8 time champ if we retroactively give Kelly 20% more titles, otherwise titles don’t mean shit; they’re like inflated dollars now, WORTHLESS!
@@JeremiahAlphonsus ha ha. Yeah, that was pretty disappointing too. But I guess he had the points, which at least represents a certain standard. But I agree, Tahiti was a joke for the WSL in general. They had an agenda at the contest for sure, despite Toledo deciding he wasn’t going to surf it. Robinson got robbed early on despite surfing the best. I was glad Migi fought as hard as he did, cause since they couldn’t set up a Kelly vs Hedgy final, they had Kauli as the pre-determined local winner. I was glad Migi made their plan impossible and made them give him the win by force.
@@JeremiahAlphonsus he had to. They had favorites and an agenda for sure. I was so happy to see Pupo throw a wrench in it. I still think Jack did most critical and technical surfing out there that day, but he made serious stuff look so easy he was underscored. They gave points to people who were able to hold onto bad takeoffs because of drama factor and neglected to properly score guys with better selection and precision, like Jack. Jack had a wave that was gnar and he shot it surgically from way deep inside and rode up and over the foam ball so precise it made it look too easy. Jack was the all around best surfer of the year, not Toledo, for reasons you pointed out above.
Love to see Kuio surfing on Stab!
1 or 2 foot…waves are bigger than him!
Hawaiian size bruddah!

Bottom line is he’s not John John .
same thoughts
And it’s not a pyzel … weird how they just ignored their own video premise
I've had a 6'10 for 100kg's 6'4 guy for the past 10 years. But I used to have a big wave gun back in South Africa, 7'6, it was deadly in big waves.
why didn't you just get someone to test John's board across all 3 locations?
clicked on the video thinking it was that
I think he meant 2-3ft "overhead" lol
@@AlleyTrashBoards basically, the buoy reading, which, I'm not surfing a swell at the buoy and neither are they. Call it like you see it

*2:50** That exit was MASSIVE*
that's not 2ft east coast that's like 5 ft when he said 1 to two feet
I take it you’re new around here
@@dylanskye1534 no i am just from the east coast not the west coast there is not very big surf in the east coast
you can't get fully tubed standing up in 2 to 3 ft waves on the east coast
Imagine saying that those waves are 1-2. I guess I surf was that are -1-0.5
@jonathanfryer9497 i was looking for this comment 😂
This guy rules!!!
Yewwwwwwww 🤙🏼
Sick! Is your Dad Elijah and Grandpa Mike?
The surfing you young whippersnappers can do today is nothing short of astounding. Dude was doing skateboard tricks on a wave of consequence.
I’m calling bull shit on Hawaiian wave size measurements, how can a shoulder high wave be 1-2 feet tall?
This doesn’t make sense because your not using the same board pyzel shaped
Lol, waves litterly higher than his head but waves were 1-2 and below his chest
6:58 Savage! 😅💀
Hawaiian 1-2 is one foot overhead.
Who calls that three foot waves, on the east coast that’s 6+ feet
I feel like all the wavestorm weekend warrior jackasses have proved the "one board" theory is plausible a long time ago.
YEah you Kuio!
1-2 ft in the first section as he tucks into a tube 😂😂😂😂 o k
friendly reminder that a real surfer always downplays wave size…it’s 2ft until it’s 20ft.

Toledo’s title also has an asterisk because he folded in fear at Tahiti.
