Pac-12 can get a good tv deal in 2026.. TNT/ TBS wants a bigger footprint in college football in 2026 ..when NBA contract is up . They will have 5 billion to throw around . For sports.. they take 2 billion over 5 years.. for PAC 12 that's 35-40 mill per team . Memphis , Tulane, UNLV, rice , Tulsa , USF, uconn would be stupid to turn that down ..
If the Pac 12 waits until 2027 to add the AAC teams those huge exit fees drop a ton, you just have to give 27 months notice. For 2026 the Pac could add UCONN and Texas State to be compliant as a conference, both have huge upsides and TV markets, rumor is UCONN football could come with a long term non conference scheduling agreement between Pac 12 top tier teams and UCONN men's and women's hoops, home and away series plus marquee games like Gonzaga vs UCONN at Madison Square Garden. A lot of people seem to act like the Pac 12 will stop at 8-10 teams, why would they do that and live on the edge of being eliminated if say the Big 12 poaches a couple teams in a few years? All the major conferences are now at 16-18 teams per conference, that is the future. The more large TV markets you have the bigger your contract money, that is the reason schools like Sac State are being considered because its a top twenty TV market. The Pac 12 has a clear path to being the 5th best football conference and getting that 5th automatic playoff spot for conference champions of the five top rated conferences, their competitors for that were the MWC and the AAC, they took five of the top seven MWC schools ending them as a threat, if they can take say three at least of the top AAC schools then that playoff spot belongs to the Pac 12. When this is all said and done the Pac 12 will be from 12-18 teams, they need to grab the teams with value now while they can before the Big 12 or ACC grabs them.
Memphis/Tulane/Texas State(bridge school between Colorado St and Mem/Tul)/ Grand Canyon. Would be an awesome way to get to 12 with 10 FB schools then Gonzaga/GCU to boost basketball
@@ReisterJP comparable road trip to the ones they make to UTSA currently. UTSA or Texas State would be good adds but TXST would be cheaper exit fees significantly
@kingnido1516 Texas State, UTSA, North Texas and Rice ( basically replacement for Standford and Cal) should all be a package deal for the Pac 12, especially getting the Houston, Dallas ,San Antonio and Austin areas and schools with good big markets/TV Markets.
@charleswebsterjr.6350 none of the schools you named are in Austin or Dallas and Rice doesn't have any fans....and nUTSAck really they don't even have an on campus stadium
Rumors are the Pac 12 is going to the CW and asking for a concrete minimum number on the TV contract as the conference stands now and with concrete escalator numbers for if program X is added if programs A,B,C,D,E and F are added etc so they can go to these schools and say here is your pay out if you come on board.
It would be nice if every conference only had teams that had no more than 1 hour separation in time zones. They would play about 75 percent of their games in their region and the rest outside of their regions;against teams that had the most similar records to them.
Memphis isn’t going anywhere unless PAC-12 pays 50% of exit fee and gives them a bigger cut of the pie. This whole rebuild is to put OSU and WSU in a better position to leave for a power conference.
Wrong. If those two were going to a P4 conference they’d be gone by now. In the new PAC 12 contract, any member who leaves the conference must pay $30 million. They’re in this for the long haul or they wouldn’t have agreed to that.
Stephenville (where Tarleton State is located) has a population of maybe 10k people.... How the hell are you thinking it's going to be some college football hotbed??? It's 2 hours from DFW airport, travel is bitch, there's ZERO hotels or amenities to support traveling fans etc. Get over Tarleton State... And give up on sniping AAC teams, we have a better media deal with less travel to crappy west coast time zones. Y'all are screwed.
So I don't think the Memphis AD was expecting the massive amount of their Fans & Season Ticket Holder Base to publicly "Bash" their decision to turn down the Pac-12. Not only were they furious, but many threatened to cancel their Season Tickets. He had to come out & make a Statement reminding fans that it would only hurt The Student Athletes, by doing this. Therefore, After Gonzaga joined, I think Memphis is really hoping they can make a Deal to join the Pac-12. I give it at least a 65% chance. They would be crazy not to make a counter use Offer.
The more I think about travel the more I think football can be national and other sports stay regional for the regular season. There are only 12 football games so the travel is minimal. For basketball the travel would be too often.
I think you need to go back and listen to Edd Scott's response to the pac 7! It wasn't positive towards the "pac 6 or pac 7 are whatever they are calling themselves" in any way!!
That’s becoming a strawman argument. Nobody thinks it’s the old Pac. Anyone who thinks another conference was going to pass up what this Pac can be… nah. Media wants you to go away, too.
Sacramento shows up. They sure did when Seattle wanted the Kings. People thought NIL was going to kill small schools and look, hungry small schools are trying to move up. It isn’t the size of the school that’s going to matter, it’s going to be how they’re governed that counts.
It’s going to be hilarious when Oregon St. and wash st. Accept the invite from the big 12 around April of 2026. Oh yeah, the mother of all plot twists is coming!
Sac isn't good enough I've worked for both UNM basketball and NAU basketball. NAU is in the big sky with sac. Sac was not top of the conference in football or basketball. And UNM would dominate them in basketball and best then in football. No UNM didn't beat Montana but Montana regularly beats sac and the Montana UNM game was close
Sadly MEM AD and coaches are scared to move. They fear losing jobs if they can't perform. So I doubt they will take any offer from the PAC. U of M higher ups like the safe space they are in. Weak leadership.
Fresno fan here! Keep up the great work; you’re a solid reporter. Go ‘Dogs!
Paint the valley red! Go dogs
Thanks for the Midnight update, hopefully Pac-12 will acquire Memphis and Tulane
SDSU fan here, awesome job sir! Look forward to more content.

SAC St. Is at least serious of moving up to the PAC-12.
Did they get a invite ?
@@joeldrewwaldengrounds6931 my understanding is not quite but going for athletic facilities improvements and dropping hints is a big move!
@@joeldrewwaldengrounds6931 Not from the PAC-12. They are more of a MW prospect.
Dude your a stud I love your stuff. Keep it up thank you
Thank You and thanks for watching!
@HuntleyHuddle the amount of detail and information and ideas you have and talk About is truly umatched.
Actually great timing for us East coasters because you are “most recent” when we get up. ;-) good luck

NIL money for Sac State is up to $50 million, bottom line they are a top twenty TV market.
Ngl, I miss when conferences were regional
You really need 4 schools in Central/East Coast to make it worth it. Watch for several to jump at once again that is what I think they are waiting for
Great show

not to mention that they got a top 5 basketball program to commit to the conference
