In the world of sports performance, "power" is held in high esteem, as it should be.
It's not particularly valuable to be very strong, but also slow in respect to one's sport.
At the same time, how much "grey zone" training do we actually need in athletic performance, in the sense of lifting lighter weights quickly?
In many cases, athletes can simply perform an appropriate amount of powerlifting derivatives, and then be explosive through sprinting, throwing and plyometrics, rather than needing to go too far down the jump-squat rabbit hole.
At the end of the day, we must always remember that athletes compete without weights attached to them, and we must understand the "poles" (raw strength and raw speed + bodyweight movement) well first, before throwing generalized "power" work at athletes and expecting it to give them the optimal result.

Joel, thanks for the excellent video!
I wanted to ask if it would be possible for you to get Andrew Murphy - coach of Rohan Browning on your podcast? Not only is he a great sprints and jumps coach, but he is also a 3 time Olympian in the triple jump.
