Without a doubt, one of the most underrated talents in music. I'll never understand why she's not as hugely popular as she should be. I've been appreciating her for decades.
She’s an icon. She recorded with Aretha. Been in films. Solo. Eurythmics. Widely regarded as one of the top 5 female vocalist in modern music. She never cared to be Madonna or Cher. She’s chill, quite and prefers charity work. She’s sold millions of records.
Annie Lennox is up there with a unique voice where you know it’s her singing! She’s a unique talent since the 1980’s with band Eurythmics then her solo career.
Annie Lennox, nothing more needs to be said. What a spectacular woman! My uncle, who was a very famous singer, told me Annie Lennox was one of three people in his life he loved, not romantically, but just loved for who she was. Look at the interaction between them during their duet singing “Under Pressure.”
My favorite Annie Lennox song. She really is impeccable. One of the best voices of my generation. Go down that hole to hear more, both solo and with The Eurythmics.
Annie Lennox is such a wonderful talent. Great reaction. Try the genius that Is Kate Bush: This Womans Work, Running up that Hill, Wuthering Heights etc.
all those on here who moaning about Annie being under hyped and under exposed and under appreciated, Annie and Dave Stuart the Eurythmics are international super stars, Annie has sang for US presidents, royalty, done duel live performances with many great artists, like under pressure with queen, was a perfect beautiful Substitute for Freddie mercury with David bowie, done her own conserts and world tours, these people must have missed the 50 last 50 plus years living under a rock or something
Bien d'accord, cette remarque est valable pour beaucoup d'artistes, les vieux ''fans'' pensent toujours un peu que leur artiste '' fétiche '' n'est connu que d'eux seuls ..😂😢
Always love your reactions ❤️ Beautiful song. Love Annie's unique voice. ""Here comes the rain again "" No more I love you's, Walking on broken glass. Many great songs. I got to see her live when she toured with Sting years ago. Great concert ❤️
This is my sssshhhhh. I love this song. I was in high school on the afternoon school bus on a rainy day when I discovered this song and it matched the ambience. Before Adele and Amy Winehouse, Annie Lennox and Sade Adu were at the forefront of British music.
Annie Lennox has such an amazing voice. Lots of people like "Sweet Dreams." My favorite song by her is "Would I Lie to You" used in the 80's film "One Crazy Summer."
Such an incredible singer!! Annie Lennox has a superb vocal range. She & Dave Stewart made a group of their own which was amazing. She had already been in a group, but she and Dave were excellent, Annie being the singer/songwriter, and Dave, a fellow musician. Fabulous song!!
With you admiring her voice - there is a whole world to discover! Be it her as a part of Eurythmics or her solo stuff. She's one of the greatest voices in pop, Rock and New Wave, really. I've been following her since 1982, can you believe it 🤗
Annie Lennox originally a duo with Dave Stuart called the Eurythmics, then she went Solo an amazing vocalist and songwriter, from Scotland Uk 🇬🇧 Annie Lennox one of my favourite female vocalists, such a talented rich vocalist, great reaction thanks 🙏
If you talk to Florence Welch, she'll definitely tell you how great an influence Annie is on her. Check out Annie singing at the 2015 Grammys - "I put a spell on you" by the legendary Nina Simone. You're going to be blown away by her live performance with Hozier as her back up. One of the best Grammy performances ever.
I saw Annie Lennox perform this song in the Tampa Theater a historic landmark built in the 1920's. It's an ornately decorated movie theater that seats just 1252 people, so just imagine how personal and intimate this concert was being ninth row center stage. Annie was getting ready to go on tour and was perfecting her act (no need to). Her singing was sublime! It was by far the best concert I have ever been too.
I've always felt that with Annie, too. She has incredible control over her voice, but it's not done for the sake of doing it. The acrobatics are not there to hide anything lacking in the song. The smallest question in English is "Why?" but by extending the word to stretch across three bars and fill the entire chorus with just one word, she's showing the contrast with the "littleness" of the word and the "massiveness" of the question.
Annie is one of our finest here in the UK. She was one half of the '80's band The Eurythmics with Dave Stewart and they had many great hits together. Annie also did a song with Aretha Franklin called 'Sister Are Doing It For Themselves' and another sol track called 'No More I Love You's' which was just wonderful.
I saw Annie Lennox when she was in her first band The Tourists, would have been 1977 or 1978. I think it was a daytime gig at the college I attended in London. They were an energetic, post punk band. Little did I know then what a superstar the lead singer would go on to be!
You need to audition "Eva Cassidy" her angelic voice will awaken your soul! Fields Of Gold, Over The Rainbow, What A Wonderful World, Danny Boy Studio or Live any of these songs would be a great intro to gifted artist.
Eva’s story needs to be made into a movie but the actress would have to lip sync cause it would make no sense to have any voice but hers singing in it. She was surreally talented. Her version of Billie Holiday’s “You’ve changed” is incredible. It’s crazy that she’s so posthumously famous in the UK, Australia, etc., but barely known here in the US where’s she’s from. RIP Eva

So happy you enjoyed this song :) I know what you mean about the similarities between her and Florence-there’s this power and conviction in both of their voices, not to mention that they both really know how to create an atmosphere with their music. The album this song is from, Diva, is one of my all-time favourites. Just one great song after another. Would love to see you react to more of her music :) Thanks for sharing this with us!
Little Bird, Take me to the river, Money can't buy it, pavement cracks, smithereens from her solo work, her live 8 performance of Sweet Dreams is everything then for the Eurythmics Sweet Dreams, Here Comes The Rain Again, Missionary Man, Angel (Choir Mix) her BBC sessions performance of Here Comes The Rain again is also amazing. She attended The Royal Academy of Music for voice and flute. Sir Elton John also went there. It's the oldest conservatories in the UK and one of the most prestigious in the world. She was unhappy there and left to make it in rock
If/when you get back to Annie, give "Money" and "Legend in My Living Room" a look. The whole "Diva" album that this and the ones I just suggested, is in my top 5 albums of all time.
I really LOVE her song Money Can't Buy It! Would really enjoy seeing you react to it! Please and thank you. Just discovered your channel today so thank you for this.
Annie Lennox is the Rock version of Sarah Brightman (her back catalog is fantastic) Truly the voice of a higher power! The entire Diva album is a masterpiece on many levels 👍👍
EXCELENTE.
If you want hear her vocal gymnastics check out music video There Must Be An Angel (1985) from the band Eurythmics she was in. Surprisingly their ONLY number 1 single in the U.K.
I'm also a dude who appreciates female vocals. I agree with your picks and would add Blondie, Heart, and The Pretenders for their old school female rock vocals. For more recent female vocalists who can perform without auto-tune I would recommend "Fear" by Sarah McLachlan and either "Fight Like A Girl" or "Misery Loves Company" by Emilie Autumn. Emilie is a little edgier, but she brings it with both her vocals and the violin. "Untouched" by The Veronicas is also fun.
She wrote Step by Step for this album and gave it to Whitney Houston as they’re both with Arista Records. You can check out Annie’s version from 1992 on here. You should listen to Annie’s band, the Eurythmics. Reminds me so much if my dad and childhood.
Congratulations, best reaction I have seen to this amazing song, I am now a definite subscriber to you. Well done for recognising an amazing song and singer. Check out any Eurythmics songs to hear this amazing singer.
I WENT TO SEE HER PERFORMING LIVE AT CENTRAL PARK BACK IN '95 AND SHE SANG THIS SAD BUT BEAUTIFUL SONG SHE'S JUST AWESOME IN MY BOOK BRINGS BACK LOTS OF GREAT MEMORIES WATCHING HER SINGING THIS SONG!!! 😎👍
Annie is amazing. If you ever have a chance to see her live it is well worth it. Another lady to check out is Bonnie Raitt. Awesome guitar player. The slide guitar blues.
Just found this... and I'm glad you found Annie Lennox. She sings with her soul. Always. I've been a fan since she was in Eurythmics way back when. Annie Lennox cowrote and sang " Into The West ", from the Lord of The Rings: The Return of The King movie soundtrack. She won an Oscar for that song. I'ts beautiful and full of pain and full of hope.... it just grabs your soul. Check it out if you ever get a chance.
It's pronounced Len - nix with the emphasis on the first syllable. Great emotional song that I can relate to. To me the song is about the dissolution of a relationship and she's expressing her feelings about how she feels and her side of the story. Good reaction.
One of the best voices in the business. If you want to hear what she's capable of live, I HIGHLY recommend 'Eurythmics Live 1983-1989'. It's basically a greatest hits album, and the entire album (22 songs) is on the official Eurythmics youtube channel. IMO it's better than all of their studio work. One of the best songs on it also has a video: 'Eurythmics - Miracle Of Love (Live in Sydney 1987)'. Her solo career is also great: 'Little Bird', 'No More I Love You's', 'Into The West', 'Precious',...
I think you have some of the best reaction videos on RUclips. I really enjoy your channel.😊 I agree with the similarities between Florence Welch and Annie Lenox. Good observation.
all these amazing songs just remind me of going for a drive with my mum in her mini cooper, my wife always called me a 80’s/90’s throw back when we were younger and now she asks why I never play my music anymore 😞😞
Eurythmics/ Annie Lenox was always one of my favorites. I even had my hair short for a while and my little daughter back than always said I looked like Marie from Roxette ( my husband like Tom Cruise lol )

As she puts on more female armor she gets more vulnerable. This video is criminally underrated 👏👏👏
Is it just me, or does anyone else think that she is a stunningly beautiful woman, without makeup, and almost without equal when using makeup????
Yes, she's a lovely woman without makeup and exquisite with it. She has beautiful bone structure & almost transparent skin.
