‘Cold’ from Annie’s Diva album is one of the best.
Walking On Broken Glass is for me perhaps her most memorable solo song, with an insanely brilliant music video... starring no less than John Malkovich and Hugh Laurie, still early in their careers. Note that she is VERY CLEARLY dressed as "the Scarlet Woman" 😁 Gotta love that "Dangerous Liaisons" setting 🥰

Negative! It may have hit number 23 on the American charts but it end up selling over 500,000 copies more than any other country in the world including England. Don't forget America is a huge country and its hard to hit the top 10 unless its freaking boring

She is in her 70s now and still wonderful. I liked her in 1982 and still do now.
If that’s only the second eurythmics song you’ve heard then you ain’t heard nothing yet. Would I lie to you is fantastic. They were my fave band in the eighties.
This group (duo) had some of the most amazing and memorable songs of the 80s: Sweet Dreams (of course), Here Comes The Rain Again, Would I Lie To You?, Missionary Man, Sisters Are Doing It For Themselves, Thorn In My Side,There Must Be An Angel, among others..... and of course Annie went on to 2 incredibly successful solo albums not long after the duo split up. I hear/see the title and the music starts playing in my brain, which automatically fires up the memories of their incredible videos.

This song tends to focus on the fine line between love and obsession. It's one of my favorite Eurythmics songs. Lyrically, it's a darker version of the song "Obsession" by Animotion. It'd be interesting for you to compare and contract the lyrics of both songs online.

You need to listen to There Must Be An Angel. Their only number 1 here in the U.K surprisingly enough.
This was early Eurythmics, off their second but breakthrough album, Sweet Dreams (are made of this), which was very synth driven.
But you will be impressed by their evolution across their albums.
As much as I want you to react to “Would I lie to you?” I hope you’ll follow that evolution and listen to “Here comes the rain again” next.

and a truly haunting music video.. hit me right in the feels as a 21 year old queer kid coming to grips with being attracted to both sexes.

Man. Where did you come from? Refreshing to hear your philosophical takes on the lyrics and love. The word ‘agape’ came to mind when you were trying to describe higher, selfless love. I do love this song. What didn’t you like about it, musically? Aside from her amazing writing and singing talents, Annie Lennox is mesmerizing when she performs. Those smoldering eyes and expressions. Wow. Thanks for covering this song.
Agape' (note the accent for emphasis) is a concept 80% or higher of current 'MURICANS could never hope to grasp. That same 80s decade, following along with Reagan letting the religious nutjobs in the door of power and influence, is where the massive decline began. It became nearly 100% a case of "IT'S ALL ABOUT ME -screw everyone else!"
C'mon man this is such a brilliant song, I don't think it gets enough recognition because it was so early.

I love this track, I have both the 7" and 12" picture disc. When I bought them they had been reduced because the single had flopped. A few weeks later they released Sweet Dreams which was a hit everywhere then this was re-released.

Musically, this one shocked my for decades. Lyrically (Yeah, since the fiist time, May 1983) - Excellent Lyrics, I didn;t Connect. I think it ain't a love song song.
This song starts OK, and Slips behind you and at some point - kicks you pretty hard, perhaps at verse 4 .

Interesting lyrics of this one, but musically not my thing. Nice visuals in the music video. Annie always had this kind of androgynous visual in their Eurythmics times and even later... now about the meaning of "love" there are other songs that could capture and describe better the sense of that feeling, at least for me, but the problem within the meaning of the word and its representation can be the same with many other words, not only "love" and sometimes they can mean anything... but try to find what it is, can be the best part of it...
You are totally deaf to the music. The arrangement of synths, and how its manipulalted to give it that unique sound and beat and the grunting is brilliant and the keyboard arrangements are incredible.
