    The 4G63T Mirage\Colt is finally home! Is anyone else out there doing a similar project I would be keen to hear on how your project is going. Take Care 🙂🚗

      Hey mate I've put a 4g63t into my 82 Mirage, it's a VR4 block with SOHC pistons and head. I tried to keep it period correct but this makes me want to build a DOHC engine now! Great info on the brakes, as I had researched brakes for these, came to the conclusion that I could use Sigma GSR-X rears and VR4 fronts, so thanks for confirming that for me haha I have all the parts, but have been procrastinating with actually putting them in!

      @ALMN8U Hey man, thanks for the comment yes the DOHC cam cover definitely stands out under the bonnet so I say do the full DOHC engine now hehe! Brakes are Sigma GSR front and rear, VR4 front suspension (which i think is similar to evo 1-3). You will just need to get a new handbrake cable made up. Is your car up and running with the SOHC setup? if so how are you finding traction?

      They are fun little cars, getting harder to find now I remember they were a common car to see in NZ up until the late 90s now I never see them on the road. Hope you find one and keep as anything car related what ever the car seems to go up in value when they are harder to find. Take care thanks for the comment 🙂👍

    Hello, dear friend, I did make myself a soft ride, got rid of other people's rear springs, found my springs on auto-dismantling and installed new front struts, the car became much softer, it became pleasant to drive, it remains to find a slightly thicker anti-roll bar for the front axle and rear axle stabilizer

    • @MannixGarage
      @MannixGarage  2 года назад

      Hi great to hear that you have sorted your springs out. I hope you can find thicker anti roll bar for your car as they make a big difference to the handling of this particular car. Maybe if you cant find a direct fitment you might be able to find an engineer who can make one up for you?

    Fantastic info! I have wondered if Sigma hubs will fit. You'll be able to put 2 piston calipers from a VR4 or Diamante on the hub using VR4 rotors seeing how the Sigma hub bolts on. Great stuff!

      Hey glad you commented as I have watched your channel in the past when my Mirage was all tucked away in storage. Yes sigma GSR front and rear but I cant recall the exact year I think 86/87 I will let you know. It was the model with the 4g63T SOHC Turbo front wheel drive, maybe 86/87?. I just needed to get a custom handbrake cable made. You will be happy with the braking performance. I may have to pick your brain for future questions 😊 Thanks for the info on the calipers and hubs.

    Good time dear friend, I accidentally stumbled upon your video, and definitely like and subscribe from me, I myself drive such a car but with my own 4g12 engine, I'm very interested in how you did everything, especially on the brake system, about those details that you set yourself Unfortunately, I didn’t find anything, and I can’t figure out how you implemented the rear brakes.
    Sincerely, Alexey, there may be some misunderstandings because I use a translator.

    Hey,, Love the car. So stoked to find a fellow kiwi with the same project car as me. Im just starting out, I was wondering if you know what the actual part no.s are for the sway bars/ where you got them. Also will the rear sway bar fit onto the stock trailing arm or is that the reason you upgraded to the turbo version? Thanks

    • @MannixGarage
      @MannixGarage  2 года назад

      Hey Mate, glad to have another fellow kiwi who has the same project car 👍. I don't have the sway bar part numbers as I purchased them over 10 years ago (Ill do some digging) but I see the Whileline website doesn't list the front and rear sway bars on the website now, however I am sure if you want to enquire with them eg email say you are looking for front and rear sway bars for the 1984 - 1990 COLT RC, RD, RE (same shape as the NZ mark I and Mark II Mirage) they just had a longer production run.
      As far as trailing arms go, the turbo rear trailing arm is identical to the non turbo, but if you look at 9:45 min of the video the picture of the turbo trailing arm has the factory sway bar or torsion bar attachment between the two sections of the trailing arm to prevent the flex, the non turbo trailing arm doesn't have that, I just wanted both in the rear. To be honest if you can't source the Whiteline sway bar it would be something an engineer would easily be able to make up. Originally I purchased at Repco. If your car is lowered already the sway bars are definitely worth doing and I noticed a big difference in handling, they are quite rolly cars without them. Feel free to reach out on the email as its always good to bounce ideas off someone with similar cars. What have you done on your car? Take care

    • @MannixGarage
      @MannixGarage  4 месяца назад +1

      Hey Bro, are you the person with the bronze 4 door Mirage with the SOHC 4g63T? as I might have some questions for you down the track. When I got this question I felt guilty as I have done nothing on the car lol really need to get it done, but I have found my spreadsheet with the part numbers.
      No not using the standard mirage bottom ball joint, and I am unsure what car specifically they are from as its so long ago, my guess Sigma GSR or Cordia GSR, I used Part#JBJ374 Lucas Hyundai Excel 89- . Repco lists that part# if you find out what car that is off let me know as ill update my spreadsheet of parts. From memory if you are still using the Mirage standard shock setup you will need to run camber bolts.

    • @ALMN8U
      @ALMN8U 4 месяца назад

      @@MannixGarage yeah bro , that's me! Cheers for that, I used that part number to find the OEM / Interchange Numbers: 5453024000, 5453024A00, 5453028000, 5453028A00, specs are the same as the TRW part from repco, but you can get them much cheaper through rockauto. Model I found them in is Hyundai Excel 1990-92. Ordered a pair, $90NZD landed from rockauto.
      I have Evo 3 adjustable shocks and ToyShop camber plates in mine, also have camber bolts on hand if I do need to correct further.

I will get that out the way first and carry on with the Mirage me thinks 🙂, but once that is done I will flick you a message on your Mirage as I will no doubt have some questions.
