    Thanks for an extremely helpful video. I'll be tackling this same task soon on my own roof. One question however, what should be done to replace the nails holding the ridge cap and barge flashings?

    • @MannixGarage
      @MannixGarage 9 дней назад

      Hey thanks for watching glad you found the video useful. With the flashings and ridge cap, yeah still replace those nails if you find you have surface rust around them and carry out the same process found in the video. However if you find that there are large holes around the nail hole as a result of corrosion and where the new roof screw wont create a seal, for me I just had a handful of those so I just made my own flat square washers out of old roofing material I had and sealed with silicon with the screw driven through the middle (did the job fine). But if you have quite a few like that, probably best not use my method but to buy aluminium backed epdm roof washers or the screw and washer combo. You can get different outside dia. (OD) sizes maybe just go for a OD size that is bigger or similar to the lead head nail OD to be safe. Hope that helps 🙂

    I just bought an older metal 'Versatile' garage on TradeMe in Christchurch, 6m x 6m. It was up for sale at 'buy now' price of NZ $3000, and I bought it. I then hired someone to take the garage apart for me, and he then brought it to my property in two large trailer loads for about $1200. So I've spent $4200 already on it, and it still needs cement floor (at at least $2000). So I'll be at $6,200 MINIMUM when it's mostly finished. Unfortunately though, neither myself nor the person I had hired to help me, had looked at the condition of the wood framing carefully enough, until after it reached my property. And there is lots of sponge-y, rotten, wood in most of the timber framing. The garage would be at least 20 years old, but is likely quite a bit older than that. So I don't know what to do now? I don't know if I have to replace all of the wood framing that is rotten, which I'm guessing would be very costly, or if there is a way that I can 'fix' just the rotted parts of the framing, (of course, it might ALL be rotten. But I'm not sure about that yet.). ANY ADVICE OR IDEAS YOU CAN GIVE ME PLEASE?? I'll be in financial trouble if I end up not able to afford the cost of the job. I would initially be using the garage for storage, as I have no more space in my house for it. Thanks for any advice - Cheers!

    • @MannixGarage
      @MannixGarage 19 дней назад

      Hi there, sorry to hear about that about your timber framing especially going to the trouble with transporting it to a new site and then finding the rot. Have you had a chance to inspect all the framing now what is it like? I would find it hard believe for a 20 year old garage that all the timber will be full of rot, unless the garage was already disassembled stored outside and the wood left exposed to the weather or sitting on the ground for a considerable amount of time. For me I would just inspect what you have, and replace the wood framing that is rotten similar to what I had done in the video. If its just all the bottom timber plates that have rot I would replace them and should be easier to do if the garage is still apart you will just need an extra pair of hands to help move the disassembled garage sections, remove nails to bottom plate from cladding side, lie sections with the cladding side on ground (grass or soft ground) and remove rotten timber bottom plate and replace with new timber. However if it was every bit of timber it may not be worth while. Hope that helps, interested to hear your findings, Thanks 👍

      @@MannixGarage - Thank you. As soon it stops raining I"ll start having a better look at what I've now got. Heavy black plastic sheeting was put on the ground, and then more sheeting was placed over it on top. But the guys who removed the garage to my property didn't do the best sheet covering job to make sure that water wouldn't get in under the sheeting. They did accidentally cut in to some of the sheeting and it's been a nightmare trying to cover up every little slash. Anyway - thanks for now

    Thank you for this vid, in terms of washing powder and softeners are there any you would recommend to avoid this sort of build up?

    • @MannixGarage
      @MannixGarage 19 дней назад

      Hi there, no worries thanks for watching. Yes a few things you can do, firstly I always wash in cold water but you can do the odd hot wash, high water level once a month or so, that will help reduce the soap scum buildup as it may not dissolve as well in a cold wash. Use the correct amount of washing liquid or powder, don't over do it. Don't use fabric softeners they can cause a residue build up in the washing machine, or if you need to use it dilute it (best not to use it). Leave the lid open to let the air in to dry bowl after a wash. Cheers 🙂

No not using the standard mirage bottom ball joint, and I am unsure what car specifically they are from as its so long ago, my guess Sigma GSR or Cordia GSR, I used Part#JBJ374 Lucas Hyundai Excel 89- . I would move a lot slower in a random pattern instead of circular motion, and do the playback head and capstan once, pulling away SLOWLY. The pinch roller bracket doesn't need anything, especially without any motion, and the erase head does not need it either, since it in itself is a demagnetizer.

    The LED bulbs require a Direct Current voltage to operate without flickering, unfortunately, the dial light supply is 6volt Alternating Current. Its fantastic to see you restoring these great radios, manufactured right here in NZ.

      Thanks for the comment yes they do flicker and it is noticeable not a good look but I have managed to find some 6 volt filament bulbs which I'll fit. Love the older radios and I see you have some on your channel which I have subscribed 🙂

    This is one of the most eye opening cleaning videos I have ever seen. I had never thought to cleanb my machine other than with the white vinegar rinse cycle and a wipe over with a dettol wipe. Within moments of watching it, I paused at each step and found this gentleman's advice to be so clear I could work through and clean every part of my machine as he did. I am in a state of shock. I live in Sydney where everyone now has mould problems and things smelling - I am thrilled to have conquered something I would never have imagined I could do. And oh so easy thank you very much. I also should say I have found Fisher and Paykel products to be amazing. This wachine machine was so easy to install - i bought it at a time it came with a video in a cassette!! Which explained what to do - and amazingly it worked so quickly - and I have never ever had to have it repaired. Thank you again and hats off to this gentleman for such clarity and lack of fuss.

      Thanks so much for this lovely comment I really do appreciate that. Happy to hear that you have cleaned your machine. Another tip is leave the lid open after a wash that helps to keep the bowl dry and hopefully wont get moldy. Thanks for watching and take care 🙂👍

      Appreciate you taking the time - I already do that and think it has made a huge difference. I have also started using a product called DampFree which has a hanger product to capture water in the air and I hang that alongside the machine to ensure the space is healthier.@@MannixGarage

      @MannixGarage 4 месяца назад

      Hi there, there have been some other viewers with the same issue, if you look through the comments it seems to be that using vinegar will help free up the inner bowl. Give that a try and I hope that helps. Let us know how you get on if you like. Thanks 🙂

      @@MannixGarage Hey! After 3 hours I managed to get it out. I had to use super hot water (not boiling) with vinegar mixed into it. And I had to step on the middle part while pulling the bowl super hard to get it out. Once I got it out enough where I couldn’t stand on the middle anymore I managed to wiggle it out. Gave it a really good clean before putting it back. When I put it back in I tried to pull it out again to see if it would still be stuck but I had no issues 😊

      @@MannixGarage also mine was literally 10times dirtier than this, thick sludge over every surface. The machine was second hand and had obviously never been cleaned lol so I’m happy I managed to get it super clean again 😊

    Thank you for the video. I successfully reset the unit. however, my unit has a master unit and a slave unit. After reset, the slave unit was not functioning. I wonder the parameter you did for the control panel has anything to do with the activation of the slave unit. It will be much appreciated if you can provide assistance to it. Thank you.

      Thanks for watching and appreciate the comment. Hmmm I haven't heard of that one with the slave unit not functioning after a reset. I wonder can you confirm the slave unit isn't going by listening to it in the ceiling as I wonder if its possible the replacement filter has stopped or majorly reduced the flow in that box perhaps?

      Hi there, thanks for watching. I would say if the bike frameset is for sale, just buy it now before someone else does, then you can collect bits together to get it ridable. Did you want the width measurement of the bottom bracket? I don't know of hand, but will measure this weekend. Cheers

    Hi John, interesting performance... I'd say it would be a good drill if it had a decent chuck in it... but for $49 it's hard to complain too much... I have to say though, I'd get very sick of doing the chuck up all the time... I don't think Bosch are doing their name any favours with this one... Cheers, Steve
