    Hey Donn, awesome build, well done. I've got a fair bit of experience driving amphibious tracked vehicles in the army, and they all have one thing in common, tracks are very bad for water propulsion. I would suggest you maybe add a small battery outboard engine on the back, it will give you way better propulsion than the tracks ever will.

      @@bent.cyclist The comment was related to the amount of effort put forth in the project and the utility it serves.
      The sawmill performed flawlessly and produced some very nice dimensional lumber from trees harvested from the farm. Wonder if it ever got painted.

    Outrageous, goes like a tank (and built like one). Love it!!! Good for work or play. I've watched the whole series. Now all you need is a jet drive on the back for some water speed. LOL Fantastic job!!!

    Awesome job Donn 👍 and it floats, I figured it would, it’s funny how many people doubted it would, but most of those people never actually calculated the weight. I’m building a articulating dump truck and it’s funny how many people seem to doubt the 13hp engine I’m installing on it, they keep saying it’s not going to work, it’s the same people that say it would not float. Good work my friend and thanks for bringing us along, I definitely know how much more work it is to not only build something this big but to also video and edit it, most people will never know how much time and work it takes. Good Job 👍

      Mike festiva sure it will work I built a skidder using an industrial 10 hp single brigs. It worked but was slow as mollases. Put a 2 cylinder air cooled lombardini diesel on it now it works better and is acceptable as far as speed.

    My friend, You might make the cleats on the track a bit taller. That way it may work better in the water, …… The only problem then is that it will also dig the lawn up more.

      i think the problem is that the return path of the track is under water too. that kinda counteracts with the part of the track thats supposed to be under water.

    • @dockmasterted
      @dockmasterted 4 года назад +2

      @@inevitablecraftslab I agree with you there, and so what I would also do was make the fenders also to cover the tracks in front and on the sides lower in the water to act as a break water. that would off set the top of the track bringing water forward. Because it would hit the side, and front of the reverse side of both the inside fender, and the inside of the front fender ... forcing the water down and backwards onto the track bottom going backward to propel the craft forward even better. .... don't you think so?

    Every single negative comment here comes from a person that has never done one tenth of one tenth of a percent of the fabrication that you did in this build.
    The RUclips platform is a blessing and a curse.
    Idiots that have to hire someone to come into their house to change the batteries in their smoke detectors can critique you for how you built a one of a kind amphibious vehicle.
    You have built something that is amazing. Not perfect, but amazing. I congratulate you. I wish I could’ve been there to celebrate with you and your family.

      OK so I watched it all, amazing sound it makes! You rode it without the engine cover, does it overheat or what? I would love to see you ride it top speed (also without the tracks on a road haha) and also haul some logs with it.
      Also, I was thinking that if you extended the roll over bar to a complete upper frame and made a canopy or a roof or even a cabin that you could ride it in heavy rain as well without it filling it water.
      BTW, shame about the water propelling capabilities, it looks like the bouyancy line is too low in regards to the tracks middle line.
