I've been building a machine like this in my head since I was about 10 years old. There it has stayed for 40 years and I think it will remain ! Great job, can't wait to see it go!
Not sure which I'm liking more... the project, the way you work, watching how your mind works on "fabricating" a jig to make something work. I hope you don't burn yourself out. I've seen many young and older people with ingenious minds burn themselves out. I like the fact you're commenting more in your videos as well. This build is coming along quite nicely. Looking forward to seeing this all up and running. Cheers :)
Whew! Well done to you, sir! That was quite a job for one person to get done in only twenty one minutes!! I really like your electromagnetic drill press, too! Those things are awesome. Your skills are to be admired!
Never ending Originality and workmanship. The jigs you made worked great, had no doubt, look forward to more Donn as the journey continues, Happy New Year !!
Some might argue with you on that but I think the same as you do. I did a lot more work than only these 21 minutes worth and that is what I want to share with everyone and especially with those who think about making their own tracks.
Love the design. Most DIY tankers go all-metal for the tracks and they are difficult to make work reliably. Also the wear rate makes all-metal kind of unfeasable. This is genious!
Donn DIY Man you really got a good assembly line going there! Nice work 👍 I just posted part 2 of my articulating mini 4x4 dump truck build video and I had about 3 comments from people telling me to check out Donn DIY channel 👍 take care
Well thought out track system and assembly process. And the best part? The assembly jigs made from scrap! That's artist level craftsmanship. Looking forward to the next videos and the test run through water!
Wow that is fantastic work. I love how you used the round stock as a guide for the wheels i have seen others try but fail with the track. Excellent thought you are the real deal.
You sir are my most favorite RUclipsr of all time I've learned so much from you I love everything about everything you do and the way you do it I aspire to work the way you do in my shop
I would say using some 1in (25.4mm) strap to make the "washers" and have it the length of one side (so its just one wide washer with the 2 whole in it) would work a treat, but my god drilling the holes would bout drive a man crazy lol. Nice work good sir.
Amazing, it takes intelligence and a lot of skill to do what you are doing but not only that, you make it look easy. That my friend is genius. Look forward to seeing a work of art finished. Best wishes Rich
Yeah, that was amazing. Tracks look so uniform. I still don't fully understand how they will stay straight but guess that will be more apparent in a later video. Like many others said I also thought the jigs were very cool.
You mean how will they not lean on the sides and drop off? The tracks will be held on with tension so the tracks are stretched on, thus they'll be straight.
You could of at least painted the bolt heads so that the whole world knows that you made it..... or you could just show them the video/LOL. Your certainly picing projects with enough welding , drilling, screwing, making jigs, (you should apply for patent even if it never gets challenged)That is going to be one hell of a logging in the snow and recovery rig! So proud of you. You a bubble short of genius!
A tip for doing productions type work like cutting the guides and angle for the track pads. When cutting, if your saw is able to handle thicker material, cut the main piece into half or quarters and cut 4 at a time. It will make the job of cutting much more efficient than just doing one at a time.
Not knowing the kind of job you perform, now this is some great fabbing work, I like the way you make jigs so everything comes out looking the same, thanks again for sharing your great videos and work :)
I would blackening the cleats with some heat and wrenching in oil. Keeps the rust a while away. You can reapply this treatment every time your belt needs to be replaced and it's dirt cheap. 😙🎶

Huge amount of work that would discourage most of any man. Congratulations, you're a beast!!
You must se how people in India doo staff without special tool.

You have a well thought out manufacturing system. This makes sense and it's why I enjoy your videos.
Wow. You are very inspiring. All you fabricate to get to your final result is pretty awesome.
Mag drill and custom jigs! Awesome! Gettin' 'er dun!
A great way to kick my weekend off a little early - a video from Donny D!!!
Thanks for watching!

I'm getting hooked on your videos, love how you deal with mass production.
Compliments and thumbs up on an awesome job.
Thanks !

You are brilliant bro.
Holy mother of god.....a 21 and a 1/2 minute video doesn't due justice to how much work this must've taken.
Some might argue with you on that but I think the same as you do. I did a lot more work than only these 21 minutes worth and that is what I want to share with everyone and especially with those who think about making their own tracks.

This design is very old. Not my idea. I just surfed the Internet and copied others. 😄
That is the coolest homemade tank track I have ever seen!
Cheers mate!
Nice! I’m at work right now so I’m going to check this out later when I’m done 👍 thanks for posting 🙂

It is a great shot when you look down the track after it is completed. Nice work!
Well thought out track system and assembly process. And the best part? The assembly jigs made from scrap! That's artist level craftsmanship. Looking forward to the next videos and the test run through water!
This track system is not my invention. It is really common on most simple tracked vehicles.
Wow that is fantastic work. I love how you used the round stock as a guide for the wheels i have seen others try but fail with the track. Excellent thought you are the real deal.
Making track guides or tracks this way is nothing new. I really liked the design so I decided to use it for my own tracks too.
That looked like a ton of work. Great results
It was a bit. But all moments were satisfying. 😀
You sir are my most favorite RUclipsr of all time I've learned so much from you I love everything about everything you do and the way you do it I aspire to work the way you do in my shop

Looking good Donn. Really enjoy your fabrication system and jigs. You keep amazing us as you continue your build. Thanks for sharing with us.

Im impressed. Very keen to see this thing running soon!!!
Very heavy vehicle. 😂👍

Yes, that would be ideal. That's what I had in mind.
When you were bending the bars at high-speed, it sounded like the start of Pink Floyd's song "Money". haha
You are one hell of a machine Donn. Tracks look awesome.
Awesome work!
Will soon be ready for a test drive
Let's hope so. I can't wait!

I’m in Bacchus Marsh Victoria in Australia. Where are you based donndiy? It’s 12:55am on Saturday night here. And I’m learning how to make tracks! Lol
Excellent workmanship, your plan is working well. I like it when someone stays on track. See what I did, stay on track.

Love the use of jigs to ease mass production, really looking forward to future episodes on this thing!

@@DonnDIY yep. Blueing is another possible method. But it's more expensive. :)
