Flunoir I have had a 2010 E350 for almost 2 years and have driven it for over 50K miles and I haven’t had a single issue with it. Only regular maintenance (oil change, tires and spark plugs)
It’s 2024 and I just bought a 2010 Mercedes e550 so far it’s been good I haven’t had any issues with it, I has over 130k miles still runs good fast! If anything major comes down the road I’ll let you know
Only in North America I hear people complaining so much about Mercedes and the reason i find is that 70% of all Mercedes Mechanics, even at the dealership, are not good. They still dont understand the car...the car intimidates them compared to European Mercedes Mechanics or even middle east and Africa roadside Mercedes mechanics are way better than the crappy ones in the States and Canada. Secondly, the prices for the parts and Labor in North America are astronomically expensive so most used ones owners turn to ignore even small maintenance then it gets worse. Ive seen in Frankfurt Duesseldorf Stuttgart etc their taxis are C Class and it can go more than half a million and still look new and strong compared to the Crappy Toyota camrys you have as taxis North America. Even in Africa with bad roads a well maintained Mercedes will still looks stronger than Any Japanese car and can easily go more than 400k
I have a 2013. In almost 2 years I put 58k miles on it. Car has no issues, not the ones mentioned in video either. All I did so far was standard maintenance. Great car!
My 2011 W212 E350 Bluetec that I put 135k miles on has none of these problems. I service my car on time, I ceramic tinted my windows for interior protection, and don't dog my car. Take care of your car and it'll take care of you.
I bought ae350 coupe at 100k miles and drives like a dream, I had issues from brake pipe bursting to rattle on the wheel getting rain inside and all sorts of repairable issues, but owning it for 6 months now I'm still super excited about driving anywhere, I've fixed most of the issues ££££ 😭😭😭but even my 2yo loves to ride out front,it's more like a statement rather then a vehicle, I owned a Opel insignia from new did 240k VERY LILL issues with that car over the years, but never really enjoyed driving it as much
@Stem Artin No, You’re severely underestimating the durability of the MB 3.5L V6. They are solidly proven, yet silky smooth engines with ample torque. If anything to watch out for from a MB of this time, it would be some of the electric components that just age like in any other car. Otherwise, there’s a reason why w212s are used as one of the certain generations of MB cars as Police cars and taxis in Germany. MB certainly knows their way with engines.
I've driven several w212's two of which had over 400,000 miles on and still drove tight and felt good. The 2.1 engine sounds a little clunky when it first starts up but once it is at running temp, it's all good.
I have the Camshaft Position Sensor issue and I am making a video of my experience. I also suspect that Oil Pressure issue may also be found as the P0336 error is often due to the known oil leak that gets into the wiring harness and eventually "can or may" damage the ECM which is good luck good day bye bye.
Re the transmission (722.9): If the turbine speed sensors are bad you’ll see MIL codes. Before taking down the valve body I recommend a fluid service. My 2007 C230 with same transmission had the speed sensor problem. Took the valve body out to separate the conductor plate off for rebuild and that took care of it. I was a little apprehensive about the DIY but took my time. Vendor for conductor plate refurb has excellent YT vids for the procedure. Doing it this way avoids having to program a replacement conductor plate to the car.
spot on review. My 2012 E350 has the cramshaft sensor issue. It just happens rarely (one or twice per year), and the issue comes and goes. It will make engine light on and after a while it gets back to normal. I don't bother. had it for over 8 years and over 90K, no other issue. (of cause the leather cracks on driver seat)
I have the 2014 E350. It got almost 100k miles on it and the only issue I had with it is the seat cover. I bought replacement cover for $ 225 and installed myself. I never had the other issues you have mentioned in your video.
I have a 2010 E350 4matic same spec as the one in the video and almost at 95k miles, The only problems ive had with the car is the seat ripping and the ac not being cool enough and the parking sensor disrupted, other that that its one of the best cars on the road
My 4th generation E class has none of the problems this guys describes and it has 110K on its Diesel engine which gets 37 mpg...btw, the cup holder sliding door is supposed to work that way! So you can adjust it the way you want it! I agree with prior post, this video shows German engineering at its finest ;)
Thanks for the heads up. This is why I like listening to experts who have worked on 100s of cars instead of people who've owned 1 car and act like they know everything that's happening to all the other cars
I have a 2011 E350 and only had the seat issue and I took it to a seat upholstery guy and put a genuine leather pice that looks exactly the same for only 200.00 problem solved permanently and feels better than the original covering no big deal
I know of someone who bought a 2017 E300, and has said to me that they hate the car. Now I understand why. But they’re glad they bought the extended warranty, as it’s been in the shop 17 times now. Love the video 1A Auto. You all are a class act!
Should have spent more money & got the 63-S AMG I guess. Nothing has failed & has not been to shop for repairs other than maintenance. It's kind of like buying a 4cyl turbo F150 & saying F150 are junk because it's always in the shop or broke down. You should have spent more money & got an V8 F150. You are asking a lot out the 4cyl & it can't handle it.
That's the newer generation, and must have been built on a Friday afternoon. Not typical even for the newer gen. Check out Consumer's Reports and compare the ratings with the other German cars.
I came here to see what I should be looking for since I'm thinking of getting a 2014 4matic e350. @ 1:20 I had to stop the video......and go subscribe to the channel. Len is just awesome. pure energy and charisma. finally...mechanic videos I can look forward to enjoying!
Spot on. Very same issued experienced in c class in the past 12 years. Overall a great car. Lasted 20yrs with minor issues you mentioned until a third party totaled it in an accident.
I've been daily driving a 2012 e350, i'm at 190k miles and it still runs fine. I'm no mechanic by trade, but have done 99% of the maintenance and repairs myself. Currently have a few things to replace, all things that go with time. But overall, engine and transmission are super reliable, and this thing has served me well for the last 10 years. I'm hoping to ride it into the ground.
My 16’ E350 just went over 30k miles. I’ve owned it for a little over a year and haven’t experienced any of these problems. My auxiliary battery is going out and preventative maintenance at the dealer isn’t cheap. Other than that it’s been a pretty good car this far.
I had the same problem with my auxiliary battery on my 2012 E350 Bluetech Mercedes Benz. I went online, purchased a new auxiliary battery, then I went on RUclips to learn how to install it myself. Mission accomplished! I love my E350. Best car I ever owned and proud to have it.
@@wumcallstar3880 where is the aux battery? Under rear seat? My radio panel seems to reboot every 5 min. Might be the aux battery? Pls share RUclips video link to fix aux battery.
I have 2010 E350 coupe.. I'm scared to watch this cause my car work great still with 112K Miles. Anyone feel like watching this video might just give your car problems
Many of the problems discussed in the vid have nothing to do with owner neglect! They just happen. Crank shaft position sensors sometimes fail. Usually a simple original Bosch part for $20 bux. Ripped seam in the seat on these cars is not due to neglect. Nor is squeaks inside cabin or sliding ashtray compartment. And fading interior wood trim was due to mercedes not including enough UV block in the clear coat which mercedes eventually corrected. Every car no matter what brand has its issues.
I have a 2010 E550 sport package and has none of these “problems”. I think it comes down to most Mercedes owners not taking care of their cars.😂 (My car has 72,000 miles on it and I live in California) Great car if anyone is thinking of getting one.
Does it have that squeeking when u push on the plastic parts? It sounded so bad and cheap. I had an 211 and it was so nicely build. Im considering sticking to 211 instead of 212 because of this video.
I jus bought one with 130k miles runs great after I replaced the coolant thermostat just need to replace front air suspension then it’s a solid car again
Well i have a 2011 e350 4matic and I have had the torn seats mbtex sucks, paid for it twice so far and my wife is only 120lbs, faded wood yes, looks like ash wood even after I had it replaced under warranty, also had the issue with the cup holder cover sticks 2915replaced under warranty. Other issue is motor mounts going bad, and headliner starting to bubble is couple places 79 thousand miles on it, her 2015 350 4matic GLK has yet to experience anything bad yet except warped front rotors, had a clunk in rear passenger possible shock but it stopped dealer could no replicate. Nice cars but im a bmw guy lol
The interior creaks are well known. The wood fading was only on the earlier models, and was covered under warranty. The seat cover issue does not apply, for the most part, to the real leather seats. The other problems are not common. The trunk issue is most likely just a badly adjusted trunk bumper and latch. Overall, this generation is very reliable and well built, partly due to being assembled in Germany (well, at least the ones sold in North America).
Can you please do the Previous Generation E350/E320? 2003-2009 I see so many of these cars still on the road, and they do look alot better than the ones that came after. If you can also touch on the CDI/BlueTec diesel versions and what to look out for on those. So Grateful if you ever get around to it. Thx
I own a 2010 E550. I've owned every E-class since a 1993 400E (W124). This latest one is by far the best in quality although like most cars, has a few quarks and issues. I bought this car new and ordered it to my specs. I have 97,000 miles on it. Following are a few problems I've had: I had to replace the starter twice because it was dragging badly and drawing to many amps. I don't have Sirrius radio anymore and the dealer won't tell me what's wrong without charging me a gazillion dollars to investigate but I think it's the satellite control module. It eats brakes frequently but perhaps that's because I go fast and stop fast (can't help it with this car, it's fast for a 10-year old sedan). I have the same problem with the cupholder cover. Fixed it once under warranty but the problem returned. Otherwise, no problems with interior. I've had to replace one rear shock and it was expensive since I have airmatic. I also have a leak somewhere that the car will drop if it isn't ran for 2-3 days. I replace a headlight unit. It has curve sensing option so it was expensive. Some minor oil leaks and bushings replaced. Otherwise, this has been a great car and has a V8! All together, I've spent about $85k for this car, including maintenance and repairs. That come to about $660/month to drive a V8 Mercedes Benz for 10 years and it has almost all the features of new cars.
Huge piles of junk it doesn’t have 100k miles on it and you had to replace all those expensive parts? Wow I will completely avoid Mercedes bmw at all cost. MERCEDES ARE NOT RELIABLE CARS IN FACT HUGE MONEY PITTS! Wow!!!
@@Mercifulkingdom as of this date, his car is about 12 years old. He bought a 2010 one year ago. Who knows how it was treated before he bought it? Or, didn't you read and understand those facts?
@@gailramsey1979 Sounds like your the one who didnt read and understand his post! He said he has a 2010 E550 with 97,000 miles on it and bought it brand new and ordered it from mercedes to his own specs. Didnt buy a used car as you stated! Scratches ones head as to what you were reading! 🤔
Two days ago I got rid of a 2013 E350 that I bought less than six months ago. It only had 57950 miles and very well kept but even in that condition I can breath a sigh of relief when I traded in. Bought a 2018 Lexus ES350.
What was so bad about it? I’m only asking because that’s the same year and model I’m looking to buy. I’d rather get feedback before the purchase, and possible headache
I have a 2010 e550 with the sport package bought it with 80k miles had to Replace transmission but I knew that when I bought it.. I replaced the transmission with a 30k mile transmission and am now at 133k miles on the vehicle and have not had any problems whatsoever with anything.. use it as my daily and drive at least a minimum of 60 miles a day on it..
@@maisondav1d Mine's a 350 (3.5L V6) and I'd say it leans toward poor. Ave17-19 around town (16 on short trips), but can be 25-28 on highway cruises which is what the car is built for. 550's w/ the 5.5L V8 will of course have worse than that. There is good power down low, and good power overall, but not enough power for 16mpg around town imo
In my country Mercedes are considered tanks that last for ever , only the 🇺🇸 market uses the PIF ( pieces with intent to fail) so they can keep the business going on for parts and dealers to profit! But the E class seems to be very reliable in usa too
2014 E350 purchased new in 2013, 85k miles. Essentially zero problems, no major issues. Although admittedly I do a ton of preventative maintenance (frequent oil changes, already done transmission, transfer case and front/rear diff services, etc). Only annoying thing is the aux battery which I've replaced twice, and some issue with a loose pulley. Only annoying issue is A/C has frozen up (??) when used a lot in hot weather, requiring shutting it off for a few minutes to melt/clear, then works fine. Have had A/C serviced 3-4 times, apparently it is somewhat of a common issue.
My friends have driven Mercedes for over four decades and the only one they had upholstery issues with was their 2010 E Class. Their drivers seat split at only 42k miles. They are not big people, so it must be a common issue.
I have one from 2012 - never experienced these problems. However, I do need to disinfect the HVAC system from time to time due to a known "mold" smell. Wondering if the problems are on earlier cars.
There is a class action lawsuit for that same reason ! Check out the info on the lawsuit . Mercedes benz HVAC system lawsuit you’re entitled for reimbursement. I just got my card in the mail 2 weeks ago
of course its a famous problem! You just need the HVAC maintenance. Benz has a specific cleaning procedure to try and clean evaporator from passages but it only last so long... Best thing may be to turn off AC before arriving to melt any ice and help drain water during driving else moldy growth, sick air guaranteed 🤭
I used to have that problem until I Replaced the cabin air filter with one that has activated charcoal. Cheap ones dont and have bad seals. I also may have sprayed a solution in where that filter is with the heat on high.
2007 M-B E320 Bluetec: SRS light stays on with a digital message to bring to the shop. I caused this by jump charging the car’s battery. Is the sensor module for this available? Is repair as simple as replacing the module located under the center console ashtray? Thank you…
2013 E350 w/ 155k miles. In 7 years of ownership, I've experienced 2 issues. I have had the thrust link issue which required the bushing to be replaced, and I also experienced interior issues. Interior issues: cup holder cover doesn't retract all the way (same as the video), squaky panels when you apply pressure, volume knobb on the radio is not responsive (turning the volume up or down doesn't work if I spin the dial faster than a moderately slow pace), and ripped seats (ripped seat, same as shown, and also ripped seat bolsters.) Not bad for 6 years of ownership.
That weird shifting between 1st and 3rd is because the car by default is in comfort mode which puts it in 2nd gear automatically when you put it in drive. Putting it in sport puts it in 1st when the car goes in drive. Problem is you can't default to sport on startup.
My 2011 e350 just started clunking really hard between 1st n 3rd. I drove it really hard tho and of course it just started after my 2yr warranty ended 😭
I have the Mercedes E350 2011, bought it with 92,000 Miles now have 123,000. I don't have idea how the previous owner took care of the car, but I'm the type of person that really takes care of the car. Of the problems mention on the video, I have the squeaking noise coming from the interior parts, the fading on the wood trim, the center console door not closing properly, the wheel knob not working properly, and the broken seat. I took the car to an upholster to fix the seat and they did it for $250. The other interior issues still present on the car. Another issue is the buttons pealing. Like I said, I don't have idea how well the previous owner of this car took care of it, but I had been fixing this issues one by one and on my own time. Mechanical issues I had at the moment of purchase was oil leaking problem (fixed), tire alignment (fixed), head light bulbs HID (fixed), broken windshield water jets (fixed). Overall Mercedes Benz build great cars and this model is not an exception. If I were the previous owner of this car, probably I wouldn't had non of this issues I mention before or at least just few of them. I have a great mechanic here on my hometown, and I can say that this car is now on good hands.
I have E350,2011 Model. When I bought the car, it had 105k mileage. I put 58k in two year in half, now the car have 163k mileage. Zero problem. I do oil change every 6k-7k that is it.
I am looking at a 2010 E350 4Matic to buy (tomorrow, actually). It has 156,xxx miles and is priced at $11,000. No warranty available, unfortunately, unless I want to go the CarShield route. Thank you for telling me what to look for before I sign and drive away. I understand the reasons why you didn't, but I wish you had given a range of repair costs for the items that are mechanical in nature. Technicians charge different rates and there are garages a plenty... but not where I live. The nearest MB dealers are 1 and 2 hours from me. There is 1 mechanic specializing in European cars (and he actually charges more hourly than the dealer... I have a Passat, too, so I am familiar with his prices). I digress... thanks again for posting this!
Got 138k miles on my 2013 e350 and have had none of these issues other than the squeaky interior. I guess I'm just lucky... but then again I do proper maintenance and drive normal.
My 2013 has been solid except for the harsh 3rd gear shifting issue. Usually noticeable when downshifting into 3rd to accelerate and exactly how it's described in this video. The creaking issue was a surprise. Mine was a bank vault. I have a 2015 LS460, and only the LS460 has been more quiet. It's built like a vault in my opinion.
I had a problem where my speaker amp went out and my drivers side door latch stopped working. Heated seats stopped working but never went and got that fixed. My cupholder also stopped working like it did in this video. This is all under 60,000miles. Thankfully i bought mine CPO so when they amp went out it was covered. The other issues was out of warranty. But I do believe its a solid car. I would never buy a new Mercedes or a used Mercedes outside of warranty.
I have a 2010 e350 coupe only trouble so far in 80k miles both rear abs sensor rings disintegrated taking out the sensor quite an expensive job as axle has to come out to reach them.
Len. Although you are too diplomatic to say it, you have reaffirmed for me what Scotty Kilmer says about these expensive European cars; they are "endless money pits." Thanks for the great videos.
I don’t know s.kilmer. But I follow Len on the channel. His vids are all informative and entertaining. I wonder if he gets to drive all these V’rcles.?.
The shift thing is happening to mine! Took it 3 times to different dealers in Uk. 2 days come back take your car all good and no error codes !! Surprised they don’t know about this !
I have a 2016 E300 and had a transmission issue (similar but maybe not the exact same one as mentioned in the video) after 3 1/2 years. Fortunately the car was still under Mercedes's 4 year bumper to bumper warranty, so they replaced the transmission for free. Otherwise it would have costs me $10,000 CAD. In a way it did cost me since after that experience I got the extended warranty which increased the warranty to 7 years for $4,500 CAD and then got the extended warranty on the 2019 Mercedes GLC that I bought, an additional $3,500. But both cars are covered for a full 7 years which by that time I will probably traded them in fro newer Mercedes.
That's actually totally different gearbox. On video he talk about 7g-tronic, your is newer type 9g. Anyway that's cool they changed the whole gearbox, at the last moment of warranty, lucky you
With the transmission issue replacing the conductor plate, which is what the speed sensor problem could be is really not that much more difficult than changing the pin and stem assembly in the command knob inside the passenger compartment. It’s a little bit more messy and there’s fluid involved, but the actual work is in many ways just about as complicated. if you do DI, then doing the conductor plate in the transmission is not that difficult. Would like to see expanded versions of these types of videos, but with repairs included.
Had an E350 cabriolet, just sold it to my friend, because it’s sound, loverly car, 120k on it starts runs perfectly, does great mpg, no upholstery issues, the tyres do wear on the inside as they are set up that way on the German cars, swap them over when they are wearing to even them up. The only issue I had, which is common is the steering lock. It activates automatically on them and if it failed you can’t start the car or move the steering. It’s a little unit on the column that takes a signal from the key, a small motor drives a pin and either the electrics fail, or the motor does. The chap that came and fixed mine said this was a common fault …so if you have one you can remove, replace it, before it failed as it’s a lot easier on your driveway than when it’s locked in a car park….otherwise …great car.
I’m looking to find one of these in V8/4matic to add to my fleet of old Benz’s. I have a 2001 W210 E430 and a 2005 W211 E55 AMG and while there is ALWAYS something little broken on them, I have literally driven both of them thousands of miles with no major issues. I recently took the W210 over 4000 miles in less than 2 weeks, averaged nearly 27mpg at almost 70mph. I need something AWD for winters in my new city and I like the pre-facelift cars and I just can’t go for some generic suv.
Had a 2009 e350 for years lucky No trans issues as described . No issue with crank sensors as yet . Wow i must be lucky my thrust links are fine from factory . Yes i have some cab noise the car has 140,000 on it . Mine that is . I have no rips in seats . And mine is 13 years old . Every care has issues happy motoring people .
I have one I bought brand new haven’t had any issues other then repairing the seat but what I must say is in the engine bay not one oil leak nor water leak a great car to travel in an plenty of power so guy not a whole bush of issues thank you Mercedes Benz
Mine is a 2014 E350. I had three times with Automatic Digital Temperature Control. They were all on road. The AC seems work, but cold air did not come out. But next day, it worked fine. Every time, I took it to shop, it worked very well. It is totally unpredictable. Your video really makes sense. I guess the Automatic Digital Temperature Control Valve needs to be replaced. Thanks!
I have a 2011 E350 with 50k. No issues thus far. I do all recommended maintenance myself and have not experienced any of these issues, yet. Good video. Only suggestion would be a little more body language. I don’t know, maybe move your hands and arms a little more. Maybe turn your head a little bit. Try not to be so robotic.
The cup holder/ash tray door is designed to stop halfway because you don't want the door to smash your cups as well as being able to cover the ashtray while having cups in the holder. Very thoughtful
I have a 2013 E350 4Matic; seat tear, yes! Was replaced once under warranty, now 1500/dollars!!! Wood trim fade; covered under warranty. Other than a water pump, and at 100K, this car has been problem free.
My Benz W212 had exactly same issues after it aged.. but easy to get it fixed. One more thing to add, left LED tail light gone bad and it seemed it is also common issue for these models
What mercedes benz would you recommend for longevity and inexpensive mechanical repairs if there is such a thing on MB vehicles Appreciate your input. Much blessings 🙌
I bought 2012 E 350 the only problem I’ve had is the seat issues but my car drives great I trust it to go anywhere an I now have 170000 miles on it an I don’t dog it but I drive an flow with the traffic if I’m not already leading the pack very smooth an slick car
Get those seats repaired at an Auto Trim shop, save some money take the seats out ( 2 from seats) and drop them off. Not difficult to get done and should come back looking great. Ideally, you may want to get the complete covers replaced as aligning topstitching is difficult if replacing a panel. Could be tricky to get the exact match for Vinyl but maybe the trim shop can get something very close you would never know. I see online the original covers are ridiculous prices, order from Germany and pay 400 euro for a seat base only.
After 100k miles on mine, I had to to replace both cv joints, the battery, motor and transmission mounts, air conditioner control module, command control knob, struts and shocks, fix 3 oil leaks, and replace drivers side seat cover. Still have to replace the wheel bearings on front left and the front and rear drive shaft at some point in the near future. What a nightmare.
My 2014 E350 has a panoramic sun roof that pops and creeks when it flexes. Dealer said they have to remove the head liner to get at the screws to tighten it......very expensive if you don't have warranty.
I have an E350 Sport Mercedes and haven't put any money in fixes, only standard maintenance, which is relatively inexpensive, and tires. As far as I'm concerned, the car is bulletproof.
2010 e350 sport 126k miles. Skid/traction control light pops on, "esc inoperative" displays in info center in cluster and vehicle goes into "limp mode". Can't wait to chase it down. Trying to narrow it down but could be throttle pedal, brake light switch, corroded harness somewhere and a plethora of other things. Any tips or info is greatly appreciated!
Now I am having this issue with gearbox but dealership refuse to do anything because there are no error code stored. Not sure what now ? Car is on extended warranty!
I have a 2011 A207 E550 Convertible. The interior wood pieces are long, and over time with temperature expansion and contraction or getting snagged on clothing, they will come out of their mounts or snap. If you go through big puddles, the rocker panels may hold water if the drain holes are plugged. You will hear the water slosh around on accelerating and stopping. I have 84,000 miles. Car is clean, so far so good. I wish mine had fog lamps and not the L shaped LEDs and I with I had a rear fog light too. The AMG wheels are not too expensive on ebay and I'd like to keep a front and rear ready to go as a spare. But these tires are kept at higher pressures and have not had a rim crack yet. My 2003 CLK 430 I had a couple of cracked rims.
I enjoyed your video. My question is about if you press on the accelerator and you hear a puff of air before the engine engages. It causes engine light on. What could that be, when you hear the puff sound of air from the passenger side at the back of the engine? Thanks for your comments.
I have a 2012 E550 AMG edition and I have the A/C mold smell problem. Other than that the car runs smooth and no interior issues. The stance and look (AMG package bumper) I think is one of the main few reasons why I bought this car. Even though it’s a 2012 model it’s still a head turner! But definitely want to get into a 2016 or newer E63 or S63.
i have 2009 e350, that was a taxa in denmark and has 556k km on it, the only problem mine has of all those is the creaky interior. even tho it was used for taxa the seats are perfect condition
Just got a 2018 w213 e400 My transmission is not smooth 1,2,3 - until I do the reset - which smoothens everything for a couple of days - and then back again On hills especially Vehicle excellent otherwise What do you think?
This has to be a design issue because i had the same exact issue with my 2001 c320 w203. Boy did it act crazy. I had taken it to two different mechanics who when they drove it said it drove fine and couldn't locate a problem even after putting it on a lift to inspect. WTH! Meanwhile i'm driving around atlanta and the car wants to play exorist. Then it all of a sudden just stopped doing it. But then the battery drain issue that, you guessed it, nobody could find started giving me headaches. I just gave it away. But i love Mercedes and they are still better than most, if not all when you consider what you get for the money depending of course on which model one chooses.

Great car!

How is it holding up? I'm looking at one with 166k
🤦🏻♂️
I have 2010 e350 sport. No problem. These are reliable vehicles. There's a reason why they use them as 🚕 in Germany. Great review as usual.
@Stem Artin what do you consider a realiable car ? just to compare
@Stem Artin contrarily, e350 gasoline rock solid. extreme examples, non comercial (taxi) ones reach out 400k miles. ordinary maintain patterns (10k mile oil change etc) held this cars really good shape.
Really? E class as a taxi?
I've driven several w212's two of which had over 400,000 miles on and still drove tight and felt good.
The 2.1 engine sounds a little clunky when it first starts up but once it is at running temp, it's all good.
I have a 2010 and I don't have any of those issues. I've owned A LOT of cars and I think the w212 E550 is probably one of the best cars ever made.
+Vic Sorlie Thanks for the feedback!
spot on review.
+Alaa Sibai Thanks for the feedback!
Where can one find this cover?
Mine ripped at the seam.... where’s you get that cover?
@Alaa Sibai, where did you purchase the seat cover replacement for $225? My driver's seat just ripped after 70000 miles, slowly getting worse.
How about now that you have had it for 2 more years? Any follow up for those of us that buy them used?
I have a 2010 E350 4matic same spec as the one in the video and almost at 95k miles, The only problems ive had with the car is the seat ripping and the ac not being cool enough and the parking sensor disrupted, other that that its one of the best cars on the road
My 4th generation E class has none of the problems this guys describes and it has 110K on its Diesel engine which gets 37 mpg...btw, the cup holder sliding door is supposed to work that way! So you can adjust it the way you want it! I agree with prior post, this video shows German engineering at its finest ;)
I have owned a c207 e350 for a year now I have only changed serviceable parts 👍 I love it, smooth, powerful diesel

HUGE PILES OF JUNK NOT VERY RELIABLE IN THE LONG RUN
Idc about 30k come back when it’s at 130k
I had the same problem with my auxiliary battery on my 2012 E350 Bluetech Mercedes Benz. I went online, purchased a new auxiliary battery, then I went on RUclips to learn how to install it myself. Mission accomplished! I love my E350. Best car I ever owned and proud to have it.
@@wumcallstar3880 where is the aux battery? Under rear seat? My radio panel seems to reboot every 5 min. Might be the aux battery? Pls share RUclips video link to fix aux battery.
aux battery is a pain but replacing should run you about 500 then you don't have to worry about it for a couple of years.

Any unmaintained car can have these problems. People disregard maintenance, than they blame the manufacturer.
Yes
Many of the problems discussed in the vid have nothing to do with owner neglect! They just happen.
Crank shaft position sensors sometimes fail. Usually a simple original Bosch part for $20 bux. Ripped seam in the seat on these cars is not due to neglect. Nor is squeaks inside cabin or sliding ashtray compartment. And fading interior wood trim was due to mercedes not including enough UV block in the clear coat which mercedes eventually corrected.
Every car no matter what brand has its issues.

+Paul Santos Thanks for the feedback!
Can you please do the Previous Generation E350/E320? 2003-2009 I see so many of these cars still on the road, and they do look alot better than the ones that came after. I'm close to buying a 2010 Mercedes-Benz c300 4matic appreciate this info
Wow!!!

My e550 is a pretty sick car. 5.5l factory bagged on staggered 20s.
It's been super easy to maintain and very reliable.

My friends have driven Mercedes for over four decades and the only one they had upholstery issues with was their 2010 E Class. Their drivers seat split at only 42k miles. They are not big people, so it must be a common issue.

Same here, but I have a 2010. They seem pretty solid if cared for.
of course its a famous problem!
You just need the HVAC maintenance. Benz has a specific cleaning procedure to try and clean evaporator from passages but it only last so long...
Best thing may be to turn off AC before arriving to melt any ice and help drain water during driving else moldy growth, sick air guaranteed 🤭
Have you changed your cabin filters & carbon filters?

I own a 2010 e550 with 217k miles and it runes and drives amazing!
2013 E350 w/ 155k miles.
In 7 years of ownership, I've experienced 2 issues.
I have had the thrust link issue which required the bushing to be replaced, and I also experienced interior issues.
Interior issues: cup holder cover doesn't retract all the way (same as the video), squaky panels when you apply pressure, volume knobb on the radio is not responsive (turning the volume up or down doesn't work if I spin the dial faster than a moderately slow pace), and ripped seats (ripped seat, same as shown, and also ripped seat bolsters.)
Not bad for 6 years of ownership.

My E350 is running nice and strong! I did the plugs myself too! Way easier than my scion FRS!
That weird shifting between 1st and 3rd is because the car by default is in comfort mode which puts it in 2nd gear automatically when you put it in drive. Putting it in sport puts it in 1st when the car goes in drive. Problem is you can't default to sport on startup.
you can startup,if you push button S it start in sport mode,,but actually even in default in my diesel automatic it in 1st gear when i start.

These are used as taxis in my part of the world, meaning they are robust and reliable. I have a 2016 E 200, only very minor issues. Great car!
You've touched every issue except sunroof problems. If you could show us the part too, this video would be flawless.
There is a recall in the sunroof.
Thanks!
+Kevin Zhang Thanks for checking us out! 1aau.to/m/Shop-1AAuto-c
+Arsalan Bhatti Thanks for the tip!
What mercedes benz would you recommend for longevity and inexpensive mechanical repairs if there is such a thing on MB vehicles
Appreciate your input.
This guy is a legend
does the E63S 2014 have the same issues? im planning to pick one hopefully soon.
I have 2015 e250 bluetec 4 matic. Have 137k miles luckily never had the reving, or starting issue.
+Giovanni Amoroso Thanks for the feedback!
You bought a lemon... it was probably assembled on a Friday...lol
Complecated german cars lol
Love the W212 and it was amazing to drive, had the E250 4WD, 2010, and problems I had was the side mirror sensors and sensors for reverse
My 2014 E350 has a panoramic sun roof that pops and creeks when it flexes. Dealer said they have to remove the head liner to get at the screws to tighten it......very expensive if you don't have warranty.
+phjtube Thanks for the feedback!
I have a loud engine/exhaust noise even when the car is stopped can i get an advise what is best to do? I have E300 W212 2015 model
Did you get the ATF serviced? How do you know it needs to be done if so?
Thanks for your comments.
this guy has charisma!
Great vid. Dont own a W212 model......Yet!
But i am shopping! 🙃
That smell would be your cabin filter. I just replaced it on my car because I had that issue too.
keller5973 MB settled a lawsuit concerning their HVAC system. They're replacing the smelling ones. I'd check it out
Another here not having the same vehicle engine. Yes, you have a wonderfully fast engine. Happy to hear your brag.
My E350 is fabulous. I bought it in 2011 and I have not yet done 60,000 km. Do you think I could find an interested buyer?
i have 2009 e350, that was a taxa in denmark and has 556k km on it, the only problem mine has of all those is the creaky interior. even tho it was used for taxa the seats are perfect condition
I don't have any issues you have told. Any at all. And I have the model from 2009, the first edition.
Just got a 2018 w213 e400
My transmission is not smooth 1,2,3 - until I do the reset - which smoothens everything for a couple of days - and then back again
On hills especially
Vehicle excellent otherwise
What do you think?
6:15 take the assembly out and liberally use silicone spray - works great.
I would listen to this guy tell me how shitty my car is any day. Video was great and very informative. A1 auto rules!
