    Zenith Elite watches are underrated. I think elite movements may be El Primero based but nerfed with a similar spec and second-hand placement. So it might be El Primero in disguise

    While you covered some well known premium brands, the contents of this video had me immediately replay it, so that I fully remembered everything that you said.
    That's not because the presentation was not up to your usual standard, but because I found this to be the most interesting video of yours that I have ever viewed.
    That's because it made me appreciate your real message, which was that I may be able to lift my ambitions and be able to afford to buy a premium grade watch at a price that I would be prepared to pay, for a watch that I could really enjoy by wearing it on a daily basis. Not to impress others, just to enjoy wearing a fine quality watch.
    Every Watch Channel covers the popular premium brands in great detail, but I always learn something new and interesting by subscribing to your channel. Phil

    L.U.C. 1860 with cal. 196 was an absolutely, absolutely beautiful watch. To me one of the best ever made. Absolutely perfect from movement to look. The current L.U.C. line is way below the beauty of that watch. Technically very, very good, but the aesthetic is rather disappointing. Chopard reminds me somehow of Ebel, a brand that made some beautiful original watches (Le Modulor f.i.) and now only quasi anonymous stuff, mostly quartz and bijoux for women. What a pity. I would kill for an original 1860 L.U.C.

    Federico, I think that if we want bring back the market back and the watches at his real value, we should stop to put emphasis on the "Lose A TON Of Value" argument. We know that 99% of the watches are not an investment anymore, unfortunately most of the new buyers didn't realise yet and still contaminating the soul of Horology persecuting only the few timepieces we already know...

    The late Gino Macaluso really turned GP around. I'm a huge fan of the 1945 three bridges. Of all the brands who had associations with Ferrari, GP really did the partnership justice. Its sad that GPs rich watchmaking history goes unnoticed by enthusiasts who seem stuck on the usual brands kind of like someone who ignores the history of Bugatti and thinks the Chiron is the best Bugatti ever made.

    What I believe what turns people off the Zenith Elite collection is the fact that Zenith guarantees only the accuracy of -15/+15 s/d on average. It clearly states in the manuals that the watch may accumulate 5 mintues of gain or loss in the course of one month. Surely, most buyers are lucky and the average rates are around -2/+2 s/d, but if you get unlucky, just regulating the Zenith at the authorized service center can cost around 300€.

    Loved the video but I actually have an unrelated question. I have found that I am spending less and less time following watch relating content and researching watches. I was super into watches for a while but I have noticed my passion dwindling. I have still been wearing my datejust every day and its not like I have fallen out of love with watches, but I'm in college so its not like I can pick anything new up and was wondering if this is a natural thing that you have experienced in the past?

    • @gyang333
      @gyang333 4 года назад +1

      Don't know what that says about Breitling though. Does the brand not qualify because they don't lose as much value, or do they not qualify for not being held in high regard?

    • @kazmanscoop

      Its a shame about Breitling. I'm in my late 30's now, but i remember growing up admiring Breitlings as being these high end, 'cool guy' watches that you'd wear when you were flying a fighter jet, lol! Now it's fallen out of favour with current trends, macho has become unpopular, in the watch community anyway

    • @bruhyeat7887
      @bruhyeat7887 4 года назад +1

      @@kazmanscoop I kinda disagree, steel sports watch(in terms of watches what is more "macho" are what's 'in' I think Breitling fell out of favour because people realized that they offer very little utility/value at their price range. The movements are decorated ETA's, the finishing is not great, the designs are not that creative etc.

    Best wishes during the pandemic. You and I are both blessed to be able to work remotely during this time. I think a lot of the micro brands and independents fall into this category. I've just purchased a Balticus Grey Seal II. Obviously, I don't have the budget for the big hitters. But that's just it. If 10K for a watch is intimidating, then you are the wrong person to be a watch investor. It doesn't mean you can't be, like myself, a watch lover.

The view is entirely different from this new perspective (also... not a cheap thing to be passionate about). I picked up a Zenith Elite movement watch with moonphase and grand date for just under $3,500 about a year ago. As far as I know you can't even sniff an in-house moonphase made in the last 20 years for that price from anyone else. It's a fantastic watch, accuracy is -1.5/day despite not being chronometer certified. I always tell people to looks for non-El Primero Zeniths if they seek a bargain. If you plan to ever sell it you may want to stay away though, because a competing listing from when I bought mine is still up today on Chrono24. So they obviously do not move with any kind of urgency. I have noticed that they seem to be worth a lot more in Europe though. Like, a good 25% more on average. The Defy line seems to be picking up steam for Zenith, perhaps they'll break out of the El Primero rut in the future.
