Recently got this Kit. Love it as the only other option to have a 1/60 scale DOM was the classic Bandai kit which has been re-issued. I know you haven't uploaded any new reviews in years but hope where ever you are you are well.
It -is- basically a large HG kit, it's true. The internal frame is really just there to support everything, there's no detail to it. Before I got the kit I thought it was horribly overpriced for what it is. But after building one I love it. It's huge, and really gives a sense of the Dom's imposing nature. It looks great, too. You can't skip the screws, though. Without them, the kit's joints haven't the tension they need to support the kit's weight.
Great vid, only one minor note: the lower leg skirts are on the wrong sides, the longer edges are towards the centre of your kit, they should be facing outwards.
Sir my outmost respect for showing in such detail such a comlex process of wiring the LED's! You never fail to amaze ;D At this price-point, guess even when you got it on sale it was caving a abyss in your wallet nub marks visable on legs must hurt the owner...
O...M...G... I'm speechless! Awesome, man... Just plain awesome! I've always been extremely curious about these Glorious Series kits, but the price and wiring has terrified me ever since I first heard of them. Oh, but if I could overcome those problems... God, I woud absolutely LOVE to build the Gouf. It looks incredible! And unlike this Dom, most of its lighting features are visible above the belt. xD Anyway, thanks again for posting this and so many other epic videos!
@Zorb28 You should pick one up, especially the 1/60 Perfect Grades with tons of mechanical details, the 1/100 Master Grade for a moderate challenge, the 1/144 High Grades for the beginners or the SD kits for the model kit building adverse.
Epic bit of Gunpla. HEXAGONAL bolts and SCREWS!!! OMG Allen key-tastic! the miles of wires and LEDs! heavenly. The mono-eye looks a bit stiff though (fnar#1) and RIck cant stop touching his weapon with his magneto palm (fnar#2). given the volume levels throughout the review... the outro music scared the bejzus out of me.
@tc012009 Thanks. Well I built this over the course of a month, mostly due to free time and filming. The Gunpla side would only take a couple of hours easily completed in an afternoon. While lights and wiring could take a day or 2 depending on how handy you are at that type of stuff. But you could easily have it built in a weekend.
damn, i was on the fence about getting one the HY2M 1/60 kits but just seeing how one looks when completed has sold me on buying one. Now to decide if im gonna get the gouf or the rick dom
Awesome work Sir, I've been curious about this model since I first saw it, and your phenomenal review has been extremely enlightening. It looked like a tricky build, how long did it take you to complete? I'm very surprised that Bandai didn't supply a display stand with the model, in order to help show off the underfoot lighting. I'm going to follow your advise and keep an eye out during future sales to see if a reasonable discount is offered. This has been a really fantastic review!
@Gomenchaiii Wiring and screws aside, it's basically a large HG kit. Without doing those stuff, you'll found out that the assembly is extremely straightforward.
Wow, that looks a lot better than i thought it did... Also, is anything wrong with the audio or is it me? My speakers are maxed and i still can't hear much...
@Gomenchaiii The Gunpla side of things is very simple, only the lighting feature is anyway complex. Is it more complex then a PG? Well it depends on which one. The Red Frame, 00-78-2 & MKII I'd consider easier. But the Wing Zero and Zeta look more involved, especially the Zeta! That manual has scared me off building it for the moment.
Yeah i agree a display stand would look phenomonel on this kit, combinations of awesome lighting and potential poses... I wonder if it is possible to manipulate the 1/60 00 Gundam stand to accomodate this kit? I have the stand here with some power tools but i dont have a HY2M Rick Dom to test it out on >.>
@TarlZaralka It would remove the Extra Finish, so you'd have a completely different looking colour around the numbs. It's that colour showing through in the first place that's causing the problem
I've always wondered about HY2M Glorious kits! I thought it would be more like a PG than a jumbo grade with LEDs. The lights are a fantastic gimmick, especially the magnetic switch for the bazooka. Overall this looks like a great kit but for 30,000yen.... ouch. Again, very informative and professional review!!!
It's an extra-finish kit. No matter what you do, the original finish isn't going to be present on areas where a gate was attached. You can buff out the nubs but the area will still be a different color. Not a problem if you paint, of course...
@00gundamreviews Well the HY2M 1/60 line was all about lighting features so they're going to over load the kit with them. While on the PG they're more functional, limited to eyes and some times the cockpit. The Zeta and Wing have the most complex lighting in the PG line. But nothing as elaborate as this.
@nightslash3535 True, but I guess it comes down to; if you've done wiring before. This isn't the first time I had to do wire work, so didn't find it that much trouble.
Oh, BTW... Did that whole kit come in that small little box?! It said B on it so i am assuming there is an A box. I remember seeing this at GSAM and the box was bigger than a normal PG box.
@00gundamreviews I think a Perfect Grade overall, is better value for money, but really depends what you want. Generally I pick a kit based off the mobile suit not the grade.
As a grunt-lover, I would have get the regular rick-dom instead, anyways, nice vid. I wonder if Bandai is ever going to reissue the HY2M glorious models, or make a new HY2M glorious model, like the Gelgoog
@GundamFan360 It isn't too hard as I've done all the wiring stuff before, but would be a challenge if it's your first time. It from Mobile Suit Gunda, or Gundam 0078 the original series.
@bryce902 It's a nice kit, but very expensive. If you can find it on sale then it might be worth the money, but only if you want to have a 1/60 scale Rick Dom.
@f0615388 Several online sources sold the HY2M Glorious Series of the regular MS-09R Rick Dom (currently out of stock, but little birdie told me that they're getting a restock soon) and the MS-07B Gouf, they also sold a 1/12 Beam Saber (a role-play toy similar to Hasbro's Lightsabers that lacks an extending blade but instead, sound effects and phrases from the 1979 show), all of which for a similar price point: around ¥12,000 (Which might translate as $125-$150)
I might get a glass case for my gundams since they're collecting dust on the table and getting a bunch of tables to display them would take up a lot of space
@GundamGuns At 0:06 I show the top of the three boxes, but I didn't go into which is ABC, as I was only really going to cover the lighting stuff. Yeah its pricey, but I got this on sale! no way would I pay that for a kit like this. Thanks, looking forward to more double rainbows! XD
It looks really good, but as you pointed out, the lighting positions are pretty limiting. I think if a stand could be built for this kit, it would make a huge difference. I'll keep an eye out for this during any sales, but it won't be a priority. The red parts are nice, but those nubs.... really? if it weren't for the extra finish, I could kind of understand, they wouldn't be AS noticable, but for the price the kit demands, they shouldn't be there anyway.
I'm building this now and I'm curious - how am I supposed to put the metal battery terminals into the NR44 battery holders? Do they go flat on the bottom, pushed towards the back, etc.?
@superragon I've chopped them off!!! XD My hands are palm side facing up and those "things" on screen, is the part of the hand between the thumb and the wrist.
I think I'm gonna faint after seeing the assemble of the electronics, as a novice modeller who dare buying 1/60 almost PG-esque kits, it'll took days for completion.
@f0615388 Well I was just browsing around and came across it on sale, so didn't think it was extremely rare, but definitely hard to get at a good price.
@cerohero1 Tough call, I don't like to say what someone should or shouldn't get. If you're happy to pay that and like the kit. These can be hard to find, so I've never seem them go on the cheap.
That is an amazing kit. The wiring scares the crap out of me. I would love to have a 1/60 Dom though. So cool. I'm glad you showed this.
One of the best instructional videos! Clever use of your legs and the Lazy Suzy. lol
Interesting kit and build. Very nice share mate.
That thing is huge. And incredibly complex with all those screws.
Excellent review and tour of building this kit. I think this is a great resource for people who haven't ventured into wiring(like myself).
Recently got this Kit. Love it as the only other option to have a 1/60 scale DOM was the classic Bandai kit which has been re-issued. I know you haven't uploaded any new reviews in years but hope where ever you are you are well.
Excellent review. It's a pleasure to watch your work and hear your remarks. Looking forward to more!

No wonder the lights for the PG Unicorn are so expensive,it saves a ton of time. They seem worth it now.
You did an amazing job on this video. I think its your best one yet!
Great vid, only one minor note: the lower leg skirts are on the wrong sides, the longer edges are towards the centre of your kit, they should be facing outwards.
for some reason ur video is like how to make a ric dom..... seriously men its awesome
looks like a fun kit to build
This thing is just massive. Thanks for sharing.
Carnal, esta figura está genial, eres perro! You are the MAN! Great work and figure!
Sir my outmost respect for showing in such detail such a comlex process of wiring the LED's! You never fail to amaze ;D At this price-point, guess even when you got it on sale it was caving a abyss in your wallet nub marks visable on legs must hurt the owner...

We need more of these
@Prime92 Thanks! Have to I've seen tempted to get a Dendrobium since seeing your review.
Nice work!!!
@vegeta8259 Thanks, I'm keeping an eye out for that kit to! =D
damn, i was on the fence about getting one the HY2M 1/60 kits but just seeing how one looks when completed has sold me on buying one. Now to decide if im gonna get the gouf or the rick dom
Return of the Red Comet!

man, that is an impressive review. Why can't more reviewers edit their stuff? BTW was the "Nubby!" a round about reference to american chopper?
@LiamTheGreat Nubby is about leftover plastics when parts were cut off from their sprues when building model kits.
Yeah i agree a display stand would look phenomonel on this kit, combinations of awesome lighting and potential poses...

@TarlZaralka It would remove the Extra Finish, so you'd have a completely different looking colour around the numbs. It's that colour showing through in the first place that's causing the problem
@Guiltaur At first the glance the wiring can seem a little intimidating, but once you get into it there's nothing too complex.
I've always wondered about HY2M Glorious kits! I thought it would be more like a PG than a jumbo grade with LEDs. The lights are a fantastic gimmick, especially the magnetic switch for the bazooka. Awesome kit. Does it come with char aznable figure?
It's an extra-finish kit. No matter what you do, the original finish isn't going to be present on areas where a gate was attached. You can buff out the nubs but the area will still be a different color. Not a problem if you paint, of course...

@jondeak Thanks, I'm a super robot surgeon XD
There was an RX-78-2 and lots of Rick Doms.
@superragon A marble Lazy Susan, only thing I could find that would rotate bigger models.
@nightslash3535 True, but I guess it comes down to; if you've done wiring before. This isn't the first time I had to do wire work, so didn't find it that much trouble.
@FanOfKOTOKO YEAH! More kits need them!
wow, that's huge and lots of parts! Would you say this is more complicated than a PG?
Oh, BTW... Did that whole kit come in that small little box?! It said B on it so i am assuming there is an A box. I remember seeing this at GSAM and the box was bigger than a normal PG box.
nice wiring technique
@00gundamreviews I think a Perfect Grade overall, is better value for money, but really depends what you want. Generally I pick a kit based off the mobile suit not the grade.
@sopheaku That's the part of the build I was trying to cover, coz I haven't seen any on RUclips, so thought it might be useful to some people.
@robotadventures Picked it up when it was on sale for about 17,000 YEN... normal RRP is Y29800
@WingZer0mk2 Thanks, it the Metalverse Collection: MVC-01 Hot Rodimus Soft Vinyl, picked it up a good while a go when was 70% off over at HLJ.
Needs more Dom.
DomDomDomDomDom.
You can never have too much Dom.
:D
@Ghostychan Yeah, I prefer the normal colors, but this was the only one available and it was on sale.
wow that thing is great. how much was it?
@nightslash3535 I'll have to keep an eye out for that MS-07B Gouf! Would like to pick up one of those.
@GundamFan360 None that I know of that supply Gundam, bought this from HLJ
I think my engineering teachers would accept this as a demonstration of proper wiring technique. Also, how long did this take you?
As a grunt-lover, I would have get the regular rick-dom instead, anyways, nice vid.
I wonder if Bandai is ever going to reissue the HY2M glorious models, or make a new HY2M glorious model, like the Gelgoog
This is actually from the novel version of the original Gundam written by Tomino. Now, where's my PG G-3 Gundam to accompany this bad boy?
@GundamFan360 It isn't too hard as I've done all the wiring stuff before, but would be a challenge if it's your first time. It from Mobile Suit Gunda, or Gundam 0078 the original series.
@bryce902 It's a nice kit, but very expensive. If you can find it on sale then it might be worth the money, but only if you want to have a 1/60 scale Rick Dom.
Great vid Wiz, but please, volume up man!!
@superragon Yeap, that weird ass pink thing is my arm! I try to keep it out of shot but for the big stuff it's almost impossible.
@f0615388 Several online sources sold the HY2M Glorious Series of the regular MS-09R Rick Dom (currently out of stock, but little birdie told me that they're getting a restock soon) and the MS-07B Gouf, they also sold a 1/12 Beam Saber (a role-play toy similar to Hasbro's Lightsabers that lacks an extending blade but instead, sound effects and phrases from the 1979 show), all of which for a similar price point: around ¥12,000 (Which might translate as $125-$150)
What if you put it on a glass shelf? Then you could see the foot lights.

OMG, this is my dream, i got the gouf hy2m at the present new year, now i'm looking for this monster...woohooo....
@cerohero1 About a month but that was mostly due to free time and setting up the video stuff, you'd build this over a weekend easily.
Do you think those flexi display stands would hold this up?
@2Old4Toys Yeah, audio is a problem... hehe, but a little scare never hurt anyone! =D
Do you like this kit? Will you recommend us to buy this kit?
@superragon I've chopped them off!!! XD My hands are palm side facing up and those "things" on screen, is the part of the hand between the thumb and the wrist.
@mathexpert9981 I don't know Japanese, the pictures are easy enough to follow.
I have to say, your speaking voice is fantastic. I just wish it was a little louder.
nice kit where did you get it?
@RakionRocks96 A lot! I say the cost in the video :P
What kind of decals come with this kit? Water-transfer, rub-on, or plain stickers?
@Wizartar oh btw where is the review... cant find it :(
awesome!
@NagaTen No, looks like my laptop has very loud speakers compared to most other peoples so what sounded fine for me is too low for other people.
@Magiustor Yes, I'd say it could.
@thethefreedom1 Thought i said it in the video, half price, HLJ. You'll have to google it as I can't remember what I paid.
Awsome!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
@Wizartar I found this for $195 US, would you suggest this model for that price?
@superragon It's a marble Lazy Susan.

What's the thing about the HY2M, was it a simplified PG kit or something?
@RakionRocks96 That's it, but I got it on sale, wouldn't pay that much for this kit.
@Zorb28 this isnt realy a bionicle cuz this is not lego and also is by bandai
the sound is pretty low. I hardly hear what you say, even with everything maxed out.
anyway, thx for the vid. first time I hear from HY2M. nice model.
@jl931 00 Stand, check, Powertools, check, HY2M, check... Guess I got everything needed =D
@B5starfurry Thanks
If the nubs are that much of a problem why not buff them out?
@dragz1224 Got this form HLJ a while ago.
@nightslash3535 It's more like a 1/60 scale no-grade with lights. Its not even in the same league as a PG
@Wizartar Wow.... how did I miss the first 6 seconds of the review?! *facepalm*
hey wizatar, do u have a PG aeug mkii? or just a mg?
