  • Peacherine Rag is such a happy, simple, & lighthearted rag that seems to be loved by many Ragtime fans. The rhythm is also quite catchy 😊 I absolutely love the third section as you can see from my smiling; I hope this rag makes you smile as much as it made me!

    Exceptionnal "cover" really well revisited with your own style and touch. Much inspired and talented. Full of poetry and tenderness. A real peaceful and relaxing pleasure to listen. Good for the mind and the ears. Excellent piano player with a lot of feeling and sense of groove. Big big big like for this fantastic perform and brilliant sharing. Splendid and luminous.

    • @rty1955

      Your piano is in fine tune, I would suggest that a liano never to be placed hear a window or outside wall. The temp swings can cause the strings to expand amd contract and make the piano seem to go out of tune often ESP during season changes
      Also humidity changes can cause the soundboard to split (if its not one piece) and the pin block could soften. There is tremendous tension on the strings and subsequently tension on the pins in the pin block.
      My aunt has 5 pianos in her house with a Steinway concert grand in her living room. She only plays by ear and she could tell with certainty' when one of her pianos went out of the by the slightest bit. She would drive the piano tuner crazy but she was always right

    • @Natt_piano
      @Natt_piano  2 месяца назад

      @@rty1955 hey there, and thanks for your comment! I totally agree about not putting a piano near a window for all the reasons you stated. Unfortunately, I live in an apartment, and that is the only I space I have to place my piano 😔 during the hotter months, I use a piano cover over the piano, that’s the most I could do.
      Thanks for pointing this out and writing it to me, I appreciate it! Your aunt is a lucky lady to have 5 pianos in her home, and to even have a grand piano! I love that she has such a sharp ear to play by ear and to tell if a piano is out of tune. Ha, I love her confidence to point out even the slightest out of tune sounds 🙂

    Congrats, Natalie, you're getting better with any video you upload. The time you spend practising truly is time well spent. Your certitude playing the runs has reached a high level. Thus, the heaviness of your keystroke has become more variable and controlled.
    In this Rag I especially like the move to adapt your play to the character of the different parts. It starts with a lighthearted melody and you play it with your fingers quasi flying across the keyboard. Further in in the piece, where it becomes more severe and strenuous, you change the stroke and tempo which nicely highlights the change in character.
    And again, during your play, your facial expressions as it were comment what you are up to resp. how you feel about what you have done. That's exactly what I love so much about your clips. What else should be the reason to use the visual channel, too? To see just a person sitting there playing would be boring after a while. But seeing the player's emotions and reactions adds that extra zest that makes music out of what I hear.

    • @Natt_piano
      @Natt_piano  3 месяца назад

      What a special comment from you, my friend Joe! I definitely am getting better & better with each rag as I’m learning to “control” my playing and keystrokes. I do spend a lot of time learning and practicing, and it’s really nice to see all appreciating my devotion to this great music.
      I knew you’d notice the change in tempos for certain sections. I felt it was appropriate to do that for this rag because each section has different feelings / character for sure. I know viewers generally are either in support of having different tempos within a rag or they are adamant that a rag must be the same tempo from starts to finish. I’ve done that a few times before and that idea fits here with Peacherine so well (in my opinion).
      I try to express myself with my playing to make it more “connectable”, but when a rag is more difficult, it is harder for me to do so. This rag is very simple and lighthearted, so it was very easy for me to let myself be loose and free with this one. You’re right that a visual channel is special in that you can see the emotions and movements of the pianist rather than just hearing an audio file of the music. Thanks for enjoying and watching ❤️

      Ah, how nice to know you’re familiar with jazz & Ragtime from an old music teacher! I admittedly used to play very mechanically at first (my first few videos portrayed that), but I learned to play more loosely / naturally with more practice and comfort behind my phone when recording 😆.

      Hey, thanks so much, Johnny 😊 your comment was so nice 🙏🏻
      So rags like Peacherine, for ex., would take me 2-3 weeks at most bc it’s simple. “Harder” rags like Maple Leaf would take me a month. It just depends how challenging the piece is and how much time I have to devote to learning and practicing, too.
      Tbh, Maple Leaf isn’t as hard once you get it down! The jumps are the hard part for the left hand, but the right hand is a fairly straight forward pattern Ragtime imo. (I’m actually in the process of working on Maple Leaf again to upload a newer/better version lol). Good luck getting it mastered! 💪🏻

      I have no idea what Peacherine means 😆 it does seem like another word for “peachy”, which makes sense because this rag indeed is peachy (happy)!

      Peacherine is a fruit that is a cross between a peach and a nectarine. The tune and the fruit both appeared around the turn of the century.

      @@tomc101 how interesting, I like the fusion of the words peach and nectarine. Thanks for sharing this cool fact!

    It's good but you forgot to borrow Kristen Mosca's dog for that extra bit of style.

    This is delightful--and thank you for playing one of the 'also ran' tunes. My parents were bowled over by the revival in the early 70s. Mom would accompany everything with "A one-y and a two-y ..." and my father, who couldn't read, would work them out when nobody was home. The family sacred moment was watching Eubie Blake on the TV at 93. "If I'd'a known I was going to live this long, I'd'a taken better care of myself!"

      Thank you for watching ☺️ such a happy and popular tune indeed. How special that your parents experienced the Ragtime revival in the 70’s! Thanks for sharing with me, it’s nice you had some good musical moments with your family. And ah, you can’t go wrong with Mr. Blake! 🎶
