Beautiful, and you have the tempo just right. Nothing worse than beautiful rags played like it’s a race to the finish or an opportunity for a virtuoso to show off.
Thanks for this comment! I agree, these rags are so beautiful and it’s hard to hear the melodies and joy when they’re played so quickly or in a “show off” way. They’re fun to play fast sometimes, but I prefer rags at steady tempos usually. Thanks for watching 😊
One of my favourite ragtimes from Scott Joplin, so nostalgic! Great cover 😄🎶🎹
Thank you kindly! It really is a great rag 🎼🥰

I totally love the music of Scott Joplin and loved the movie The Sting so very many years ago. This was amazing Natalie and a HUGE like from me my friend.
I haven’t watched The Sting yet, but I know many folks loved that western film and all the Ragtime music that was introduced to the public. Scott Joplin is the king of Ragtime for a reason!

Wow, awesome playing Natalie, so precise such talent 🎹 💯 🎼 👌
Thank you so much! I appreciate your comment 🥰🎹
@@Natt_piano my absolute pleasure 👍
I have been able to play the Maple Leaf Rag as well, but not as fluently as done here. In particular I had always trouble with the left hand at 1:58. That is what I found the most cumbersome moment of the Maple Leaf Rag. But here it is as fluent as the rest. My deepest respect. This makes me want to practice and play the Rag again
I really appreciate your comment! Ah, the part at 1:58 is really tricky indeed 😅 it seems that a lot of people get stuck there. I didn’t execute that part as well as I would’ve liked to, but it was decent enough, I’d say.
I’m not that good at playing MLR, but your comment made me happy 😊 good luck re-learning & practicing! 🎹

Excellent playing
Thanks, George! 😊
Excellent performance, Natalie!!!! I taught myself that one about 45 years ago, but I don't think I've ever performed it except to show students what ragtime is. Played it a few weeks ago and the C and D sections were very sloppy. You did an excellent tight all the way through performance! Very cool!
Wow, you have been playing piano for a very long time! Your piano playing really is exceptional! I'm surprised you haven't performed this rag for the public, hope you get to do it one day 😁 it is a great piece to show what Ragtime is. The C section can get sloppy at times indeed. I'm glad you liked my interpretation here ❤️
Great, dear Natalie!! It's such a famous ragtime by Joplin, I love it! Well played, bravo!! 🤩👏👏👏
Thank you so dearly, my friend Julianne! ☺️
I appreciate your kindness & support 💐🩵❤️ this definitely is a famous & fabulous Ragtime piece 🎶
Wow! Amazing!
Glad you like it! 😃
A dazzling rendition, Natalie! You give this famous piece the energy and pizzazz it needs! Wonderful. Glad to be a new subscriber to your channel.
Such a nice compliment from you, thanks so much! Not sure what I did to give this famous tune some special pizzazz 😆, but it means a lot coming from a fellow musician.
Thanks for the sub! I just subscribed back, and looking forward to hearing some folk/artsy music from you 😊🎹
Hi Natalie, me again, It's nice to see you are always striving to get better and better, although I thought the first version was good I can see how your confidence is growing, this is one of the best versions I've heard, I love your piano by the way, I can't see the name on it, is it a Yamaha? we don't get that style of piano here in the UK we only get the ordinary square-looking ones, but being a piano tuner technician, I do know that Yamaha did make a lot of pianos in that style for the American market you obviously look after it well, anyway well done once again, take care Dave
Hello, Dave! Indeed, I try to push myself to get better & better however I can within my playing capacity - and I have you to thank for your devoted support since my channel launch ❤️
I’m so humbled for you to say this is one of the best versions you’ve heard, I am in such awe because there’s 100’s of fabulous covers of Maple Leaf out there.
This piano is a Yamaha! I’m pretty lucky with finding this one; I got it used in 2021. All I know is that it was made in 2003 in the USA state of Georgia, and somehow it found its way to LA where I’m from 😀 this definitely is an “American style”. I didn’t know you folks in the UK get different styles of pianos.
How lovely you’re a piano technician; if I lived near you, I’d ask you to assist with my piano tuning!
Awesome version ❤
Thank you my friend, Mary 💐❤️

Around a year ago when you posted your first 2 versions of the "Maple Leaf Rag," they were great. But, this time, your 3rd version is even better. Scott Joplin would be very pleased with the way you played his most popular rag. And, your fans thoroughly enjoyed the way you played it as well. Your style is a shining example of, and exemplifies the "Joy of Music!" Appreciate you sharing, well done Natalie. Thanks
Many thanks, Steve! I think my 3rd version is much better indeed, and that comes with practice & dedication 😊 I hope I’m making Mr. Joplin proud from above!
I’m glad you & my other fans on here are pleased with my interpretations and covers of these great tunes. I really try to add joy to bring the music to “life” and give it meaning beyond just being a bunch of notes. Take care 😊
One of the most iconic ragtimes 🤩
Love your playing!! I think I have to play those ragtimes again 😎
This sure is one of the most iconic Rags that influenced this genre 🎶 I appreciate you and your support 🥰🩷 ha, just like how you’d like to hear me play classical, I’d love to see your interpretations of Ragtime one day 🤩💗

Good job! 😎
I haven't played this one in decades. I'm gonna go find the sheet music.
I’m glad I inspired you to find the sheet music and play this banger again 🎶 thanks for watching!
Confidence is not waiting for people to send you likes, to encourage you, to applause you. Confidence is to be able to judge what good you can accomplish and then doing it with all your dedication. Good music is not hitting the right keys at the right time. Good music is giving the sounds a meaning, conveying to the listener your feelings directly with no detour via words. Dear Natalie, once again you have performed the miracle to play a piece that has been used and misused thousands of times in a way that it stands out of the mass making it a unique piece of dedicated music, making your audience happy to listen to it, all the way through showing no doubt that it will reach what it is aimed to. Many thanks for allowing us all to participate in your confidence. It has been a real great experience.
P.S.: I miss the wrong note that should be played in any good recording 😚, LOL 💪.
I really like what you said, Joe, thanks for this heartfelt comment! ❤️ Good music is about expression and giving the sounds a "meaning", as you wrote. Anyone can play the piano, but expressing oneself is another skill, and I try to do that as best as I can while being accurate with my playing. Well, I am so humbled and flattered by your comment that you feel I was able to make this "overperformed" piece stand out uniquely. I'm glad you stuck around from the beginning of my channel till now, your support truly has helped me get to this "confident" point in my piano-playing experience.
LOL, well, there were only a few very tiny finger slips in this recording that I seemed to have "blended" in quite well during the performance, no such thing as perfect 😊
Haha, Natalie, of course I noticed your allowances, but I firmly believe they belong to hand-made music. (Near) Perfection is only achieved by the help of machines and adds to boredom not to music. This my opinion is confirmed to me every time I run over a piece of music that is a midi or similar and produced from the original score by a computer. It sounds mechanic to me, not living. Even paper rolls that all were produced by a human player, sound more interesting than an automatically generated electronic file.
Take care, Dear, develop your ocnfidence.
Such a great piece of music, wonderful performance 🎼🙂🎼
Thank you very much, my musical friend 🎶😊
Nice playing! Definitely keep working on building up hand strength ;) it comes in handy down the line, ragtime is a tough genre in that respect!
Thanks :) Yeah, my small hands can get in the way at times 😆 you’re right about the hand strength. I’m trying my best lol and getting better & better with each rag learned :)
Fabulous! Very well executed. Subscribed.

@@MiamiJeff1967 aw no, don’t say your content isn’t “strong enough”! I personally love retro and quirky stuff, your music & work is unique! 🤩😃
It’s not about using computers or tricks, you don’t need any of that to attract a larger following! I don’t use anything fancy tbh 😆 I use my iPhone to record and attach a mic to my phone for audio, and that’s it! Then, I use my computer just for the opening slide and to create the thumbnail.
Don’t compare yourself at all, just focus on your passion and those in this music community that love and support you 😎🥰 I got 500 subs somehow just from using my iPhone in my small home, and I’m sure you’ll reach that milestone soon ❤️
@@Natt_piano Thanks Natalie for the pep talk!🙏 It's nice to hear that your work is appreciated by people, many here on RUclips and SoundCloud have been very supportive of me and have left very sweet comments. I've had this weird songwriting muse since I was a child, I don't know where it comes from but I'm self taught on all my instruments, except drums, I use a drum machine, I guess I'm like the fifth Beatle, they couldn't read music either yet they wrote some beautiful and intricate songs! Ok so we can relate on being self-taught in music 🎶 I taught myself piano and how to read most music notes, so I’m glad people like my playing in some form, means I’m doing something right 😆 but it’s really fascinating how many instruments you play, and almost all self-learned!!
