Affinity Photo 2 - A Look at the Basic Changes
9th November 2022, Serif released Affinity Photo 2 as well as Affinity Designer 2 and Publisher 2 on PC, Mac and iPad formats.
I just want to look at the more basic updates, things some other videos may overlook as they explain the major new features of version 2. I am still testing the new version of Affinity Photo 2 and I assume I will discover some more minor changes over the next few weeks.

Thanks for this. I was going to wait for the end of the year before installing 2 because I didn't want to take the time for this seemingly drastically different interface. But, you have eased my worry and I don't think it will be that big of a deal. Also, are your previous v1 brushes able to be transferred to V2 as well?

I haven't looked too closely at the brushes yet, but as far as I can see they have all been transferred into v2 ok

Can I open V1 Files and Photos with V2 ?

I have opened only tried one .afphoto file so far. But it opened ok with no problems. I have read somewhere that you can not open V2 files in V1, but can not confirm that. As for photos, they are universal file types, like JPG, TIFF, GIF etc, so will open in any photo editor no matter what version they are.

@@CarlSurry ..My question really is if I do work on a photo in V1 then upgrade to V2 will I have all my changes (layers) ?

@@tomfraser3086 Yes everything from V1 will open just fine in V2. The reverse is not possible though because of new features in V2. But this was the same in going from V1.7 -> V1.8 etc
