  • It was time to feed some baby geckos so I made a video while doing it. Some major cuteness with baby geckos is always fun! I give some tips and tricks on feeding these little guys while we do it.

    I found that the babies are more crickets hungry when you put the crickets into their enclosures. Since it’s a space they’ve already established, they immediately went into hunting mode. My guess is they are somewhat stressed that they’re suddenly exposed to a new environment without anywhere to hide, and thus they are more concerned about their well-being rather than hunting for food. Hope this helps.

    This video helped SO much. Thank you.... I have 5 babies and I am really struggling to get them to eat from dropping some on their nose. I love your technique and explanation.

    Our baby is literally watching this lol we got our crested gecko about 3 wks ago based on his size and he weighs 3 g. I am thinking he’s maybe two or three months old. But I’m just worried he’s not getting enough to eat, but he’s maintaining his 3 g since we brought him home but he hasn’t gotten any bigger so being longtime bearded dragon mom I just was concerned about if we were feeding him enough since he’s my first.

    Yay, I have three little fertilized eggs that I am waiting on. This will be my first time, and I am so excited. And you are so right about saving little spoons and bowls. I did the same thing. My children are grown and moved out, and I have replaced their bedroom with a reptile room. Sort of an empty nest thing that I never thought would happen, but I have been a Reptile Mom for over three years now. So I have bought crested geckos that were about three months old, but I figured this would be an experience to just have a few of my own hatch here. I would love to watch the video on your little enclosures. I couldn't find it. Can you send me the link to the little video or tell me how you went about making those cute little enclosures. And I'm assuming they are housed alone even at that young age?

      Yay! I love the excitement of keeping an eye on eggs! The video is titled Baby Crested Gecko Hatchling Bin! (Cheap and Easy). If you go to my channel and click on "videos," it will list all of them. For some reason, RUclips isn't letting me post a link or a picture in the comments. If you still can't find it, let me know!

    hi again! I just got my first crestie and I think she's settling into her new environment really well! I've only had her for 2 weeks and the first week I left her alone completely (changing food and water obv) to get used to her new space and only now have started trying to handle her. I've been able to feed her off my finger once and twice with the end of a paintbrush. I've also been putting my hand completely in the enclosure so that she gets used to my presence as a good thing. I've already seen great progress in only 3 days... when I would put my hand slowly near her at first, she would jump away, but now I'm able to put bring my hand millimeters away from her face without her moving! I'm just wondering, I don't want to scare her away by touching her, but how do you start handling your cresties? I'm thinking I should I try touching/lifting her up from her chin and if she jumps away, I'll leave her for the night so as to not chase her/scare her and try again the next day.

      I'm trying to figure out how to put the process into words and have it make sense. If I said "hand over hand", would you know what that ment without me showing you? It's just so hard to explain without a visual.

      @deliadeacon Год назад

      @@creaturecove yes, if you’re referring to having them in your hand and letting them walk or jump between hands. I’m just wondering how to initiate them jumping on your hand or picking them up as every time I go to try to pick her up from beneath her chin, she runs away :(

      @deliadeacon9774 that's excellent! Repeat that process everyday if possible and you can start extending the amount of time you have her out as well. I'm so excited for you 💗

      Sorry for the late response! Your comment was hiding from me. If you go to my channel page and then to videos, I have one called "Baby Crested Gecko Hatchling Bin." It shows you all the info on how to make the handles and where to purchase the bins.

    How often should I feed my baby gecko ?

    • @creaturecove
      @creaturecove  7 месяцев назад +1

      It depends on if you are feeding live and crested gecko diet or just crested gecko diet. I feed every other day for about 3 months. This is more for getting them used to being handled and associating it with good things. Then I do every 3rd day for feedings while still handling on non feeding days. We feed live crickets once in a while as a fun treat. Most of ours won't even eat them.
