That has got to be the cutest thing I have EVER watched on Ytube! My husband even watched it with me! Your channel is the best! I Love you and the awesome creatures you care for! Wow!
Such a cute gecko, and a very nice video:) Just a few things I noticed, some things you could do to help your gecko feel more secure are: -More foliage!! In the enclosure, add more leaves, branches, vines. He's a tiny gecko, and open space is scary. Also, covering one or more of the terrarium sides with dark paper may help too! -Not handling at all in the first week or so. When you gecko is first settling in, not handling at all can help with quicker acclimation into the new environment, and help him be more confident later on. -dimmer lights. Chameleon geckos are active at night, so dimming the lights when handling can help the gecko be more active and enthusiastic. That's it, and maybe it can help applesauce be even better friends with you!!
I personally keep a decent group of E. vielliardi. They are my absolute pride and joy, I love chameleon geckos more than any reptile I’ve ever worked with!
I waited almost four years to get a Eury and I finally purchased my first one right before you posted your first video on Instagram. I now have a couple and will be breeding them. I’ve watched your video several times before but now my nieces and nephews are watching it with me while we are all together for Christmas. They were fully invested in the story; terrified when he was missing, laughed at the jokes, and cheered when he finally walked onto your hand. Thank you so much for creating videos that young children, even toddlers, can enjoy.
It IS the cutest hand ever EVER!!! I can’t believe I’m crying over this. This is the sweetest show of trust I’ve seen in a while. Applesauce conquered his fears! Holy cow are you a talented human with those Lego scenes! I was one of ‘those’ people and always had to use the directions on the kit. Drive my son batty! Your videos are so calming to watch, and then listen a second time or third in the background, your voice is so calming! Thank you for sharing, can’t wait for the next!
I'm a big believer in the idea of hiding ones face when acclimating a lizard. Let them get used to your smell, size, and such first. Eyeballs of a predator and all that.
@@shlingusdingus4174 Its a bit stupid looking but I just grabbed some Tulle fabric and taped it to a baseball cap. Think beekeeper. You can see through it (well enough) and the iguana in my case barely seemed to care about my presence when it was on. Cheap and (should be) easy to verify from their eye movements and body language. If you try it let me know how it goes.
Great, interesting, mesmerising, cinematic, engaging, atmospheric, quirky and just excellent videography skills. Can’t wait for you to be very very successful in this RUclips world and make some regular and great videos!
10:58 "Isn't that just the cutest hand in the world?" Yes. Yes I think you're right. So thrilled Applesauce was found and finally won over!! I'm excited to watch them grow, keep updating 😅 I think they'd like a Lego monster set for Halloween - maybe a cemetery with mossy trees and tall fences.
accidentally stumbled on RUclips premium and watched the most entertaining and witty content ever. This was so nice, I love applesauce and q-tip. Your patience and love for what you do is most commendable. This reminded me of my childhood when I bonded with an injured lizard that lived in my broken old TV and named him Richard. I used to collect little ants and bugs for him to eat.
Thank you so much for this wonderful video! I have a leachie that I have been baby-talking for 2 years, I had no idea they hear lower frequencies better! I will be using my normal voice from now on and see if she responds differently. Much love for the saga of Applsauce and Q-tip, a classic soap opera is forming :)
so me and my friend always have an argument about what name is better applesauce or applecheese. so thank you for naming him and proving my point. and it is one of the cutes gekko i've ever seen.
I’ve had my chameleon gecko since march and i’ve never seen him eat an insect, he hates being hand fed, and i rarely catch him eating his gecko diet but he’s gaining weight lol
Applesauce and Qtip reminds me with my missing wild garden skinks. I befriended both of them and they're so tame. Hope both Applesauce and Qtip will have happy life. 😄
I have found the best way to tame lizards is to open the enclosure and just talk to them. People say cover their enclosure with paper, don’t handle them for a few weeks is imho after 3 decades of keeping lizards is wrong information. Lizards are emotional…they want and need reassurance and attention. Even the meanest lizards need to know they matter. Lizards are way more affectionate than fur babies and way more needy. They appreciate being talked to, understood and will listen and feel like they matter more if not ignored. Yes we need to give them space upon coming home to calm, but just opening the enclosure slightly and talking to them helps more and helps to tame them fast. Also bringing food to them and giving them treats helps them quickly associate comfort with your presence. We even sing to our lizards and let them be near us and all of our 24 lizards are so friendly and tame! Its incredible!
I'm absolutely positive that Applesauce & Q-tip would love that mega Ewok Tree Village set. I've always wanted to see that sett in great detail. When you film your little guys we get to see the lego set in wonderfully detailed ways. I'd be very happy watching you live stream that build too. (You might need a new channel though? You know, so as to not mess up all the hard work you've already done training the YT algorithm. You know this better than me though.) This particular set has fake trees, leaves & looks like it'd be a ton of fun to build. Where would you store it afterwards? Is that particular set, once fully built, gonna be an issue for space? What about keeping it clean? Size matters... in this case. 😂 Alas, that particular Lego set was my dream set from the day it came out. The box barely fits into a Wal-Mart trolly, it'sso big! It was returned to store one year, right around xmas time. I sincerely toyed with my budget at the time to see if i could swing it... nooe. It was way too expensive for me back then. It's hard to justify $300 plus 15% sales tax, right before the holidays. _Especially,_ when I had 2 little humans running around at home awaiting Santa Claus. Apparently, children require things like food, clothing & toys? Not just me, buying _ONE GIANT LEGO SET!_ Although, it woulda been great fun, I'm pretty sure we'd have all starved to death while building it. 😂😂😂😂❤
You look like John Cena if instead of lifting weights he spent his entire life building terrariums like a frickin nerd JK, your content is actually really wholesome and enjoyable
this might sound silly but i have a trick for gaining an animals trust a tiny bit/making them less scared. Ive tested this on amphibians, reptiles and cows lol; 1. Make eye contact and make sure your eyes are at the same height as the animals'. So crouch if you have to. 2. Slowly close your eyes and kind bow/lower your head so the animal can see the top of your head. Then slowly go back with your eyes closed and once your head is back to its normal position slowly open your eyes. Do this for example when applesauce sees you and freezes for a sec. And repeat daily. This is my own experience but i've found that its much quicker and easier to earn an animals trust by showing them that you trust them. And in general showing that you can be trusted.
It's so strange seeing a Gecko moving so slow and being able to be around another one of it's species without freaking the hell out. At very least, where i live, the house geckos move frantically 99% of time u manage to see them. And if another one is close they start doing that tail dance which i imagine is a kind of intimidation display? Hell idk
Would talking to him work as well as the music? I talk to my beardie and she loves to listen to me! It's so cute how he is slowly progressing to thrive 💕
Applesauce needs bigger tank and fruit is not only a treat for them. Its their staple. This is chameleon gecko and they are mostly frugivore and insectivores, they eat fruits and insects exclusively, and more fruits than anything else.
I've been living in Florida for 3 years. I have all the pet gekos. I mean. They're not really pets, but they are everywhere all the time. They live and work in our semi-enclosed porch.

Insecurity Lizards might not eat if they feel insecure, so you should provide a place for them to hide.

That gecko isn't lodged into a tiny hole whenever it knows you're around, though
I think he should have said: “Wary” instead of afraid.
