During the night my crestie’s tank drops to about 65. Is that too low? During the day it heats up to around 74-76, the tank is quite small (8 by 8 by 12), my crestie is around 5 months old and he barely eats.
If the entire enclosure gets that cold yeah that could be an issue. But if on the hotter end it's 76 and the cold end is at 64 then they can choose where they wanna be. Also maybe the enclosure might be took big even then. And also again he may be eating you just done see it. Have you found any poop? I had mine in a 12x12x 18 and I think he was eating but I ended up putting him in a smaller 6 qt plastic tub for now. And yeah I think he's eating, dubias and also Pangaea. I found droppings a couple times since then. I've only had him 2 weeks but he seems to be doing ok. Maybe try the smaller enclosure.
I've found rising the temperature very beneficial for both my cresties appetite, they clear their bowls of pangea every other night but they are still a bit picky with bugs
Definitely noticed this with my baby. I bought a 9month gecko and felt like it wasn’t growing… started feeding bugs and she started growing right away! Curious what makes them gain from bugs more than the diet?
If I were to guess I would say it is similar to feeding monitors whole prey vs ground meats. Theyre getting all the good things from the bug in one moving package 😅 note I am pulling this out of my butt and have no idea what the science is behind it lol
I have a almost 4 month old female. Got her 1 month ago. I've tried crickets and roaches... she doesn't want them. Runs away. She isn't crazy about the Pangea though, but she's pooping. Her home stays around 70. Maybe need to make it warmer?
Mine hates roaches and crickets while loving mealworms specifically the big ones, sometimes it’s just the type of bug, they don’t understand either until they taste the bug and then usually dig in too so try getting their guts eaten during feeding first to encourage hunting, sounds gross but it’s saved my ass for sure with mine
Yay so I’m not failing, it’s been a struggle though! She just doesn’t like the dust we have atm since Pangea is usually sold out when we need it, but the worms have absolutely helped her push through the shortage and keep her weight. Just can’t seem to get her to fatten more than where she’s at rn
So I have a Florida house gecko any tips he’s so small his egg was in our pods unit when my father moved from Florida to ri he hatched and got a little bigger but I have no idea what I’m doing but I’m trying
Sorry I’m late, but I really need help. I bought a crestie from KSL classifieds a few weeks ago, and they said it was three years old. It is tiny, and has horrible head structure. They didn’t tell me that he didn’t eat, and I have to force feed him. I really like him though because he has A LOT of dalmation spots and it beautiful. I am new into cresties and I am trying to start a breeding program, and idk what to do with him. Please help!
I'd recommend giving the little guy some uvb light as it tends to make them more active so it'll be more interested in food, personally I wouldn't breed with it tho due to the horrible head structure that you mentioned and that it isn't growing right. I hope the little guy makes it through!
@@Whovian_GeckosI’m back! He went from 18 grams to being 38! It took a while and MANY different foods, but he is finally eating and gaining weight! I’ve decided against breeding cresties as I am happy with the 3 I own. Thank you so much for your help! ❤️
I feel so bad now... I love my new gecko, he's beautiful and seems happy. I leave food in there for him, but also hand feed him, and give him crickets on a rotation with mealworms every other day or so. I've noticed he's gone from looking kind of skinny... to be a little more round shaped. I don't have a scale, which is on my list of things to get.

Maybe that’s why my boy is bigger than most cresties. He absolutely loves crickets and I’ve always given him insects.
Yep, crickets make them grow so fast!
@@DakotahblueexoticsHow often should baby crested gecko eat crickets?

love your videos and all the hard work you put into them
Appreciate it! We'll be working very hard filming all the great stuff that is happening here at dakotah blue exotics.
I just got a crested gecko so this is some good info. I started it on Pangea with insects and plan to feed insects once or twice a week.
Good strategy to start!
can you send me link to the mesh half pipes youre using in these videos?
Perfect timing! I just got a baby crestie from a friend!
That is good timing!

Would this also work for a gargoyle gecko?

My little cresty dislikes all bugs. I give her crested gecko food with soldier larva in it. What should I do about her disliking bugs?
We will have a video going all over tips to get them to eat very soon!
I made my leopard gecko accept worms when he hated them by not feeding him anything BUT the worms he got over it and eats them just fine now lol
How large is the shoe box (in cm)?😅😊
I have some babies and really want them to thrive.😊
Ohh idk the exact dimensions. I know it's a 6 quart shoe box
Great video man 🇬🇧
Appreciate it!

I want a crestie so bad 😍 I even think the frog butt ones are cute
Frog butt was my first crested gecko like 9 years ago
Let’s get bimpson number one
😎🤠😎
I started mine on insects because I couldn’t get powder mis right
It's like oatmeal either make it too dry or too wet. Never right 😔
💜💚💚💚💜💚💚💚💜
My crestie rather eat crickets instead of Pangea 🤦♂️
I wouldn’t mind the crested stay small and grow slow. So I don’t have to buy a bigger enclosure
