  • Hey house lovers and Explorers!
This week I take you through this massive Bungalow for a look. It is early 1920`s Californian style Gentleman`s Bungalow and these were not built for the common worker. This style was for the well to do man and lady and this one was owned first by 3 successive Doctors up until the 1970`s when it became a government run youth welfare home.
The home has levels and the upper level seems to be added later perhaps then it became the welfare home. I will do a more detailed follow up regarding history in the future.
Yes.........this one is going to be redeveloped and I had been watching this one for access for some time. We get a look before any salvage process has started and to top things of there are also some amazing real estate pics which I have added towards the end showing this gem in immaculate condition fully furnished.
In ground pool and shed with stuff also a bonus. Hope you enjoy the tour. Cheers for watching :-)

I barely started watching, but I LOVE this home! If I lived there, I'd never move, but I'm sure they must have made a pretty penny to sell it. The hardwood floors and fireplaces are amazing!

What a beautiful home. From the real estate photos you can tell they kept the home immaculate. I guess when they sold to the developer and knew it would be torn down they just let the kids go hog wild on the walls since it wouldn’t really matter. I remember seeing other houses where they all wrote on the walls before they left. I could move right in this one.

Fabulous explore! One of the best and well kept abandonment properties I've ever seen. I do hope they will salvage whatever they can prior to demolition because much of it is worth a fortune in resale. Loves the photos of when it was listed for sale and it was a beauty of a home then. I guess I can't expect any classic cars 😄Pity about the piano not looking in the best condition. There'll be a child somewhere in Adelaide who would love to learn on that if it was tidied up. home was allowed to run down. There is nothing wrong with this beauty that couldn't be restored and to be able to keep a part of history alive!

What a house. The mantels are all beautiful and there was a lot of money spent to make it home for them. Seems like they kept it in pristine condition and something happened after they left. I am so surprised this one is going under demolition. I just cannot get over the waste. Tear down things that have lasted forever, fill a land fill up and put up and inferior product in it's place. I would love to have those doors for my new house. Their lovely. Thank you again for showing us another old place. I hope one day you buy one and document your renovation. Waving from Maine. It's not uncommon to change the floor boards where the builder expected a rug to go. They would generally put lesser quality wood in the center, with a rug intended to go over it and with the better quality wood surrounding that.

What a gorgeous property! Really enjoyed your tour and the real estate photos were great!
Before I found URBEX Indigo, I had been watching videos of American and English properties for years. I was interested in differences in architecture, building materials & techniques and furnishings in different countries. After watching URBEX Indigo videos, one of the things I’ve noticed is connected to something you refer to as being “sterile” in more recent interior and exterior design. It’s what I see as a kind of sameness in our homes that has evolved over the last couple of decades. We are losing the distinctions that differentiate homes and furnishings of one county as it compares to another. In other words a modern, updated kitchen in America basically looks the same as one in the U.K. or Australia. All functional and nice-looking but “sterile” as you describe it in your videos. What a shame to lose the national “flavors” that give us our uniqueness!
It does make your videos all the more enjoyable because you give us a window into the beautiful craftsmanship of the past.

I drool over some of these places dreaming about what I would do to them! BTW the room with kiddie scribbles is because they painted the entire room with chalkboard paint. My guess is it was a child's playroom...bit then they went crazy on every wall. Prob. why they decided to just give up. Not good.

So refreshing to see children's innocent doodles on the walls as opposed to angry/profane graffiti. I suspect they were allowed to go all out upon moving away knowing it was going to be demolished. The first room was a foyer; the second room a parlor, both for guests. Then there was the dining room with a servant entrance/family side entrance and family living room/entertainment room at the back. The bedrooms were large because they were designed dormitory-style for two or more young people. Why didn't they donate that furniture to Goodwill or Habitat ReStore? That one piece in the garage was really unique and in good shape; consignment or antiques dealer should have been called.

Sad to see this house is going to be torn down. What is with these developers in which I refer to them as property thieves, will destroy a immaculate home, just to build cheap high cost apartments? Probably will cost up to 1 million just to remove this and about another 4 million to make into apartments. This should of been put on the national historical register. Seems it would of save them millions just to repair this and resale it or rent it out. They are out for the almighty dollar. Spend 5 million to to make up to 4k a month. This kind of reminds me of Mr. Haney on Green Acres. LOL
