  • This historic old house shows the transition between the antebellum period of the south to sharecropping in the late 1800’s too early 1900’s. This historic house was actually built in 1906 for the Nolan family who originally owned over 5000 acres of land and there name is prevalent in the area today as the house has roads around called Nolan store. The house has been vacant since sometime in the 1980-1990’s. Very beautiful old house with lots of history and was featured for a brief moment in the movie my Cousin Vinny. Lots of reasons that this place should be preserved and saved before it collapses. I really hope the house is saved. It’s so beautiful, the staircase, wainscoting along with parquet ceilings. So much incredible architectural details.
    Thanks for watching!
    Hope you enjoy!

Why hasn't someone anyone bought this place?? I know restoration costs a lot but these beautiful homes have stories to tell and should never go by the wayside. I think of the families, the celebrations, birthdays, Christmas, births and deaths that happened here. The entire home is such a treasure!!!! Thanks Kappy you always explore the best places 💜

Because if you bought that house, spent $1000s of Dollars in Renovations and upgrades . Poured your soul into making it beautiful again, BLACK LIVES MATTER or a Bunch of self loathing White Guilt white people would raise all kinds of hell about slavery and White Supremacy and Blah blah blah. Then you'd have to Bulldoze it down or it'd get vandalized or burnt down. So there's no point in fixing it up.

I was thinking the exact same thing. Why doesn’t somebody rescue it. In the state that it’s in it shouldn’t be that much. It’s beautiful. All the details inside even are gorgeous. Can you imagine what it looks like when it was in its heyday? Cheers from California💜🤟🏻😎

The wrap around porch was probably a gathering spot on a hot summers night, maybe the younger generation at one end and the older folks on the other? I think this because the kids would likely be chattering away, while the adults discussed crops, gardens, recipes, and yes politics. What an easier/harder time in Americas history, back when the bread was homemade, didn't cost $3.50 a loaf, it was better for you and tasted better too! I love this house...textbook Neoclassical and that curve of the veranda is steller. I've read the current owner has no intention of selling or restoring...not even an effort to try and preserve what's left. What a cruel waste of such a gorgeous slice of Americana. Breaks your heart. Great choice on this one Kappy! She's a beauty!

Lovely place. If foundation and roof intact - could be turned around, right? Imagine, Kappy, a *painter or artist of any kind - but one with substantial , substantial means - adopting the structure/property, and breatheing renewed life into it!? Exciting to imagine.

What an amazing place! It looks like there was at least a little bit of salvaging done. Am hoping they are going to take some more out of it before demolition. Looks like we are going to have some more awesome places coming up too. Love what you do young man. You got a great eye for these places! Thanks for taking me along Kappy!

What a beautiful house, I love the huge rooms and lots of big windows. Unique shape to this place too, that second floor porch was worth waiting for. You find the best places. Happy Halloween, hope you don't get any Turkey Vultures in your trick or treat bag. Thanks, Kappy

I just finished watching one of your videos of a 136 year old mansion, I am so jealous, I've always loved looking at old houses I am fascinated by them, I am 62 years old and I grew up living in these type of places, I am grateful to you for being so interested in this. In the 60's I remember they tore down so many of these old vintage houses, even the ones I grew up in, some of them were very haunted, I don't know why but I saw children dressed in old 1800's clothes in some of the old houses that's when I was really little and they would appear I can still remember, but that's not why I'm fascinated its because I think about how people used to live in those days

I frequently stop there to sit and have a snack while on my motorcycle rides. I’ve often wondered how much it would take to restore this place to its former glory. It is a beautiful place!

I've heard of this house before. Apparently the owner of the house is stubborn and unreasonable and refuses to sell it or let anyone try to restore it. They basically want it to rot.

These are the best years of your life to actually get to go in person n explore n experience the feeling of being inside these homes n walk on the floors that the actual owners n residents walked on many times n made so many memories there n imagining what it must have been like being them n living their day to day lives there. I wish I would have been born over 100 years ago. That must have been like Heaven on Earth to live back in the turn of the Century.

Hey Kappy! Growing stronger every day, to quote the old Chicago song.
This house is on my "Very Favorite Kappy Explores" playlist and so I looked it up. You posted this house just a year ago, and filmed it in December of 2020.
I'm glad to see that there's not much additional damage since the last explore. I fell in love with this old beauty then and what I said last time still stands.
Hope all is well with you and the Kappy Krewe. I'm getting along here in Tennessee, doing what I'm supposed to and resting a lot to regain my strength.
So glad to see you posting in the South again. We've got some lovely old places you can explore!
Love to all of you! I'll be looking forward to seeing you next week! Becca

I know it’s cost a fortune to restore the house to its original glory, but it’d so be worth it’ That large, hardwood Timbers give it great bones, and the floors actually look to be in pretty good shape for the most part.

Many kitchens back in the day were built in the back of the house away from the other part of the house so in case there was a fire while cooking in a fireplace or on an old wood cook stove it wouldn't damage the other part of the house or burn the entire house down. I took a grand tour in an old house years ago and the only way to get to the kitchen with its' own door was either going up outside steps leading up onto an opened walkway with no roof built adjoining the kitchen and the other part of the house or to go out the back door of the other part of the house and walk across the walkway built solely to get to the huge kitchen. There was only one door to the kitchen itself to go into and come out of.
