Nice gains. Can't wait to see some 1/4 mile runs!
$79,000 at my local dealer…a goddamn joke
Nice video with good baseline dyno run and quick, cheap easy mods showing the gains!
Free gains are always awesome. Great video, guys.
Very cool thanks for sharing
No clue what they changed, but the stock exhaust sounds to be the best I’ve heard so far on a coyote… 👍
Exciting stuff!! Can't wait to see what it does on the track
Nice tests. Thanks!
love this video, so much great information.
Thank you.
Project crazy horse
There should be no other name love the content man
Great video!! Impressive gains for anyone to do at home. I was hoping that there would be another pull with the air box lids removed, I've seen a couple of videos with gains. Otherwise thanks for the great content Evan!
Much appreciated, thanks.
Illegal to remove emissions equipment and will have massive air codes after removal.
Love it guys!!! Dark horse fighter!!!
Excellent video thank you.
You're welcome.
EXCELLENT!!! Content!!! Guys!!!
I'm impressed on the gains with so little effort. I can't wait to see full builds.
Ford employees are funny. 😂
@@ClickbaitMotorsportsCome on Mickey Mouse Motor Sports. Admit when you're wrong. By the way. Palm Beach Dyno did multiple Dyno pulls and came up with the same 500 horsepower on the Dark Horse.
CJ Pony Parts compared the S650 and S550 on an outdoor truck scale. They weighed the same.
Cant even aftermarket tune too 100% so idk
@@FORTNITEGUY023thats what i heard too but a complete ecu change ... i cant see how a true tuner wouldnt be able to bypass everything in it
@@ClickbaitMotorsports Why?
Great video. I go back and forth on liking this car, but I do love the engine and drivetrain. Encouraging results.
Thanks for sharing guys.
Thanks for the good explanation on the dual throttle body carbon traps etc can you send a link of the filters that you guys order and where can I get some also thank you
Good stuff fellas
Awesome Sam is the man!
So taking carbon traps out and putting high flow air filter on it finally matches Mach 1 WHP at 450. Not bad, still slower with the extra weight.
That's still excellent & these cars will last far longer than most all other sports cars.. w/good basic maintenance . *Full Synthetic oil /Motorcraft filters every 5k mis + 89-93 octane top tier fuel* . I use Shell or ExxonMobil myself.
Low parasitic loss = excellent engineering. Kudos to Ford Motor! 💯
GOOD KNOWLEDGE JUST LIKED & SUBSCRIBED
Thank you!
Great video REVan..Ford to the front 100%
Thank you.
Best explanation as to the two throttle bodies to date. 👌🏼
Years ago when putting a square K&N in a 92' LX 5.0 I had , it started with wrestling an enormous piece of plastic out of the front passenger side fender. 🥵 😄...A Dyno on the new RTR would be cool to see as well...FORD💪💯
Thanks for doing this videio. Can you add a link to the filters you used?
Good video!
Project Blue BALLZ!!! - THX for the content!
Got me excited! Don’t joke around about adding boost man!! 😂 what a beautiful car. Looking forward to this build.
The new GR86/BRZ have a carbon panel filter in the airbox as well. If you remove it, you gain approx. 10whp.
Can’t believe Sam bought a blue car. Looks beautiful buddy.
EVAN, THE TUBE THAT WENT THROUGH THE TUNNEL PORT MOTORS INTAKE RUNNER THAT HOUSED THE PUSHROD. WHEN THEY DID A FLOW TEST ON THEIR HEAD IT WAS NEGLIGIBLE. WITH IT AND WITHOUT IT THE FLOW NUMBERS WERE THE SAME.
Well I’m sold (already was). Definitely want the dark horse
Project Ember Heard!
500 x .88 = 440. So 12% drivetrain loss it’s right on advertised fwhp.
Most modern cars are underrated to compete with the Germans, which have been underrating their cars for decades. Clearly, even the 2018+ was 500hp when you calculate it properly at 17% rear wheel drive drivetrain loss (425whp/.83=500hp). 14% loss is FWD, 17% loss is RWD, and 20% is AWD. Even more loss with larger heavier wheels, which is anything larger that 17s. People have just been accustomed to expecting much higher numbers than correct, and it's like the new standard... although still underrated/incorrect.
Here's an example of underrated and not underrated:
Underrated:
2019 Civic Type-R 306hp=>290whp (5% loss... uhh no! It's a 335hp car, not 306hp)
Not underrated, Not overrated, correct
2019 Veloster N
275hp=>235whp (14% loss)
This is a high reading dyno. They consistently measure 425whp.
That's quite low *parasitic loss* actually from an engineering perspective. Kudos for Ford Motor! That's a very well designed, superb performing vehicle. Can't wait to get my new gen7 '24 Mustang GT 5.0L in few mos. Even new Mustang Ecoboost is improved. Be fun, frugal ultra reliable daily driver sports car. Gen2 - 2.3L GTDI is well proven & quick.
@copperkeyracing6167 Ford Motor achieved very low parasitic losses to rear wheels. That's excellent engineering of components from an engineering perspective. Very impressive!
@GarciaQ60 Mustangs have historically been underrated.. my beloved 04 SVT Cobra terminator (4900 orig mis) stated 390hp from factory yet consistently put out near 420hp (stock) as did all others. Most of us know how well that car responded to any mods! Mine puts out a conservative 500hp+ from only $500 in mods. 💯 I will get a new gen7 '24 Mustang GT 5.0L. New 5.0L is a very impressive modern V8.
Can you please share with us the exact part number for the K&N filters?
That is one gnarly horse! ❤️🔥

Outstanding video, as always with Evan. Read every issue of MM&FF back in the day, while piloting my 84 Mustang GT
Thank you!
Im right thier with ya! Used to love those magazines back in highschool, that was my proof that all the other magazines didn’t know how to run a car down the drag strip. Evan was out thier running 13s in a stock new edge GT, while the other guys where nowhere close to those numbers
I have boxes and boxes of them still!
@malloycade8626 Who doesn't it's hard to throw them out. It's wild to think what the pioneers like Texas Turbo and Racin Jason would be capable of if they were youngsters in this era..Deputy's times seemed so earth shattering then while today it's not even impressive..
My fox could only dream of this kind of power from the factory. Still fun to drive though and it still looks pretty and that makes me happy. And yes, it is a V8 with a manual transmission.
I had a Nissan 370Z which had dual throttle bodies. It's very good for twin turbos.
I just bought the 2024 GT and I was think twin turbos are the way to go with the dual throttle bodies
Good stuff. Sub'd.
Thank you! Glad you enjoy!
I just subscribed ❤
Thank you David.
Very interesting. A simple and practical way to get some extra HP. If you gonna take it to the dragstrip, it would be an ideal ocassion for some racing against previous models, since everybody is arguing if the car is faster or slower... The Dark Horse has divided Mustang enthusiasts' opinions as few other models.
I can't imagine a cool name.. Since its a kind of successor of the Terminator, should be called Judgement Day...
With camaro and challenger terminated by 2024, too.
Did your dyno guy skateboard back in the 80s? That Coastal Dyno logo looks a whole lot like the old Santa Cruz skateboards logo! 💯
Thanks for doing a good, through "magazine style", in-depth video. Nice to see the progression and incremental HP and Tq improvements. Good stuff!
I don't think many are complaining about power, they are complaining about E/T and trap speed which is what matters. I could care less if it dynoed at 1000rwhp if it's slow compared to previous gen. 2018 was trapping at 119-120mph. 3 or 4mph faster
2015 S550 was slower than the 2014 S197 and nobody said shit, all of a sudden everyone complaining 😂 It took the S550 3 years after its release, a higher compression coyote and a 10 speed transmission just to be faster than the S197.
@@Jimmyxsxright. this shit barely beats a boss 302 that's over 10 years old
@@Jimmyxsx what are you talking about, loads of people were talking about the slower s550. Then the 2018 rolled out and had us all grinning from ear to ear. Nobody said much about the decrease in power of the 2020 because it was advertised as such but now we have no compensation for the extra weight even with the advertised extra power which is the worst news. Because it's going to cost more to get weight moving. They should have added cube's if adding weight again. It was advertised as faster 0-60 and nobody is seeing it
@@Falcon-mc5fs 2015 was also advertised as a faster 0-60 and it was getting clapped by the s197. Where im I heading with this, since it took almost 3 years for the S550 to get fast than its probably gonna take another 3 years for the S650 to get fast as well. New performance variants are coming and with that Ford always does revisions to the Mustang Gt.
@@Jimmyxsx I get you, but just like then we're disappointed now as well. The real problem right now is weight and and we already didn't like the weight of the last car. If the new one is significantly more expensive I and many others expect more speed and I think most would argue for a focus on weight reduction with the extra money
I pulled my carb out of my 22 Mach 1 hp and notice a difference in acceleration.
Thanks for showing the stats. I just got my 2024 gt convertible and will be following to get ideas.
Project Blue Magic 🎉🎉🎉🎉
Project Dark Ember!!!
Nice to see a 6 speed. I love stangs.
I wonder if someone made a Bigger diameter carbon filter area, potentially allowing more air flow before the MAF, if that would equal removing the carbon trap HP loss. Space appears to be a restricting factor there. Some say that the HP gain with K&N style filters disappears as the computer 'learns' the air flow difference. Any thoughts on that?
Whipple has the key to the ECU since they are teamed up with Ford and their superchargers. Everyone else, nope.
Could you please, please run a dyno with 87 octane and then 93 to see if there is actually a huge difference. super curious I'm sure a bunch of other mustang owners are. there aren't any good videos on this.
Twin TB: Logic makes sense, but they could have did the old 96+ Cobra twin TBs setup with a single lever (53mm x 2) and one giant inlet w/carbon trap. It would have been simpler, more reliable and easier to modify. Instead they went with dual intake tracks which is the most complicated option and hardest to modify.
"could have did..." Now, that's some gooder English...
1. Highly paid engineers test this stuff so I doubt a dude typing from home is gone suggest something they haven’t tried already. 2. They don’t want people modifying it because they locked the ecu…
Two inlets with the same carbon trap is harder on the software side but not on the intake molding side. They would have had to make a massive intake tube that would be hard to package. And would still have a massive carbon trap blocking it. Also 96 cobras had dual 57mm throttle body's
It’s a slightly revamped s550. What did people expect.
S197 is the best coyote platform, imo. I run a gen 3 short block and a whipple on e85 in my 13 🤙🏼
Hey even, thanks for your contributions and passion in the mustang world. I’m an OG foxbody guy like you.
So since you had a S197 that makes it the best.😂😂😂
And I have a sick foxbody.
Mustang owner since 1991 and yes S197’s and foxbody’s are the best. And yes, my opinion is way more valid than yours.
I love my 13’ to death and will never sell it but there’s no denying the s550/650 is a much better platform. Especially handling
My 13 is built for straight line power.
Besides, anything 15 and up is fugly, imo
@@robfeldschun6146 never really liked the s550s either besides the Shelby’s. That’s why I waited till the s650 and I personally like the look a lot better
Ford released the encryption to the ECU/ ECM to Whipple, RTR & Ford Racing. It will take about 6 months to get the solution to the tuners. Be patient!!!
Do you guys have the part # for the k&n filters on these? They aren’t on K&N site yet
17 HP and 19 lb ft for almost no work or cost isn’t too bad at all. I think the biggest problem with it is traction. It really needs the right tire to utilize all of the torque and Horsepower it has.
They come with 315s on the rear, and from what I’ve seen the pirelli trafeo R is a pretty sticky tire outside of a dedicated drag radial
It's weight dude wow the dyno don't know what gear your in
@@notfiveoput that bitch on E85 and you'll want to smell the fumes. Trust me. 🌽😌
Can we just end ..that you get an awesome 5.0 engine ..two throttle bodies. 440 hp. Is great. To hit that 500 + bigger injectors Headers.. straight pipe. Ecu tune maybe 640 Hp.. they gave you a scat pack killer. Out the box.
Wheel hp is different then crank hp the point was to show that you are getting the 500hp crank hp as advertised
Is adaptive octane logic enabled thats main thing i want to know....
Can't wait to see these slapped on a Gen 1
Call it Ford Project - True Blue Oval, paying respect to Ford's racing history. True Blue Oval sings the history of Fords putting power to the ground on race tracks. If you use this name can I get an autographed photo of this particular Dark Horse, and then I will mail back an autographed copy of my book that reverse engineered all the physics involved in physical on-ground dowsing with the modern light weight ball bearing dowsing rod, which is the same physics used in electronic metal detecting. The book's name is The Art of Dowsing - Separating Science from Superstition.
Thank you Evan for all the information and entertainment with this channel. I am looking forward to another (stand alone) Fast Fords .... type magazine. How come Ford itself did not buy and take over the magazine, which was one of Ford's best advertising tools with very little expense to Ford (supplying free parts) ? All Ford fans had to pay the price of Tens Publishing's other nine bankrupt magazines, such as Super Chevy. I like Chevy power too, mostly in the muscle car era, but from the 1980's on, I am all Ford,. At twelve years old (late 1960's), I had a 1953 Ford F100 with a 292 C.I. and a manual car three speed with driving it everywhere as though I actually had a drivers license, (even drove it to jobs I had). 300lbs on rocks stacked against the tailgate gave traction for driving on all the 4x4 jeep tails, where we would see friends in their 4x4's asking "how the hell did you get that two wheel drive truck in here" ? The only answer to that question is you have to know what you're doing with a 4x4 and you have to be a little crazy. Can't wait for income coming in from our book sales and advertisement money from our new RUclips channel, "Tracy and Michael's Dowsing Adventure", with buying a new Raptor R and 2020 - 2022 Shelby GT 500 for modifications by Hennesey Peformance. The future may hold an REVan Evan RUclips video on the vehicles, because you are one of the few whom I would trust for accurate representation of all aspects of the vehicles. P.S. I like Shelby's Las Vegas performance modification shop too.
When you remove the carbon traps.... does it throw any codes on map sensors or anything else?

How did you get the dyno control on the laptop. I wanna do that with our shop dyno
The filter part number is RU-1037
Do you have a part number for the air filters?
Project Mystique (like X-men. She's blue).
Has a good ring to it.
They probably had more emissions designing and building those traps than what they will ever save
Thats great numbers for the new dark horse basically two very minor mods and hardly any miles on the motor. My Gen 3 hit 443 in 4th gear not 1:1 gear either with e85 tune, intake and catback. So definitely more stout then the gen3 but that should be expected.
4th is the 1:1 on the gen 3 2018+ manual cars with the MT82 D4.
Name her Feeling Blue !!
Great power gains with minimal mods.
Just a quick question, is it normal to put a car on a dyno before it goes through the break in period?
What kind of filter are those ?? Brand and part # ??
Great video guys for sure. If it had a little more octane to go in hand with the additional airflow and leave the filters exposed on the dyno it would probably make 460-465 that’s incredible there’s plenty you can do on the stock tune free flowing exhaust, Porting etc..
Yes, That specific K&N allows you to keep filter exposed... Had that set up on a 94' Cobra trying desperately to reach 300 HP ...🤨
@@robertcopes1185I mean the covers here in the s650. They dyno higher with them off
Will it void the warranty?
I am going to get one of these Dark Horses in the near future...can you work that engine for me?
Can't wait to see what kind of 1/4 mile ETs it gets.
I’m scratching my head why anyone is doubting simple engine math. Look at the peak torque. Horsepower is just torque X RPM divided by 5252. So the higher it spins the more power it should make.
Honestly would love to see this kind of money put into an NA 2V. I guarantee it would make similar power while weighing significantly less
Do the different exhaust settings effect hp?
What do ppl tune the gt500 redline to? Higher than 7500??
Blew by you !
Does it or will it make a difference with removing the air box lids with the filter exhange?
maybe .05 at a BMP test and tune Sat morning in January, otherwise you might see a couple hp on the dyno.
Carbon Traps is a fancy way to say "We put a restrictor in and said it's for emissions".
i wonder what it would pick up with e-85, less restrictive exhaust and an actual tune.
Interesting car. Curious, how did Ford get the extra power over the standard GT? Does the computer get data from both intake tracks, or just 1 side? Itake it the carbon traps aren't replaceable? Great videos!
Tuning mostly. And it has 2. MAF sensors
@@AzureCrux As explained surprising timing advance for an oem tune file.
I think people were hoping Ford under rated them like they used to. Terminator cobra times.
Blue blood because it’s royalty
What do these weigh now?
Removing the carbon traps makes sense, but paying extra to run filters that allow tons more harmful particulates into the engine is not worth it for a measly 1% increase in HP. Also, multiple dyno runs would be needed to confirm legitimate gains because there could easily be a 1% fluctuation in results between every run without changing anything.
The blue unic.
Elvis! For blue suede shoes
I dig that.
Part of me still wonders is if the did the dual intake setup for mostly unique + looks points. Or is there really a big advantage in the system. Like would the car make the same hp with a single intake?
Emissions dude dual carbon traps that’s the reason so it can flow the same as a single it’s stupid ford is scamming people
@@doom_slayer_5.048 How are they "scamming people"? There are are real engineering considerations, but as an expert keyboard engineer, I'm sure you know better...
@@buckhorncortez I’m sure you’re just as retarded
