    Highlights from the Royal Artillery Barracks as Team GB's Peter Robert Russell Wilson wins gold in the men's double trap shooting event at the London 2012 Olympic Games (2 August 2012).
    Sweden's Hakan Dahlby won silver in the event with the Russian Federation's Vasily Mosin winning the bronze medal.
    From just five shooting events at the inaugural 1896 Olympic Games to today there are 15 events in the Olympic programme, divided into three different groups: rifle, pistol and shotgun. The rifle and pistol competitions are held on shooting ranges, where marksmen aim at targets at distances of 10, 25 and 50 metres. In the shotgun event, competitors shoot at clay targets propelled at a series of different directions and angles.

    I was there was working on the event as a Gamesmaker. Peter Wilson came round the day after to thank people. Those gold medals are heavy! Asked if he wanted it back and he said yes!? Very nice guy and the contrast between his demeanor on the day of the final and the day after was very clear! Cannot believe it's 10 years ago.

      True indeed! And dad was in the army so he could have taught him to shoot too but sadly he never even though about shooting competitively after his military days, no! He went from tank/armoured vehicle instructor to regular car instructor!

    Sadly, most people in the U.K. can’t enjoy this awesome sport, without a lot of cash. Glad I’m American.

      The doctor will see u now It’s the same with all shooting sports over here as safes & home security are mandatory requirements as are advanced criminal, background checks.

      That's not completely true. It's not expensive to get a shotgun licence and cabinet. You can pick shotguns up cheap (especially second hand ones).

    • @bilko6024
      @bilko6024 5 лет назад +4

      You're so right. The cartridges I use for trap cost around £7 a shot. Buying an actual gun isn't so much of an issue though. There's a big market for second-hand guns, especially over-under's.

      I'm not 100% sure I know what you mean..? I've shot in both countries and cost is the same....

      £7 a shot? Utter rubbish, a box of 25 cartridges is £6-£7 and £0.24 a clay
