    I am in love with my e208 GT. Usable range is working out about 150 miles. The car tells me its doing 4.2 miles per KwH so theoretically it might do 210 miles, but I got too much range anxiety to run it down to 1%. My range anxiety is improving tho and my doctor tells me it will improve further over time.

      Yes in cold/wet conditions range is bad on all ALL electric cars including Teslas. Supposedly 350 mile Telsa gets only 200 miles at brisk highway speeds (good weather conditions), and EVEN WORSE in cold weather conditions. Checkout E for Electric channel, where host drove Tesla for few years and often got 40% less range than advertised.

      All Tesla models are amongst the worst compared to their claimed WLTP range. Up to 28% lower range in reality than claimed. Add to this rather slow charging speeds with all the Teslas unable to sustain the claimed peak charging speed.
      On the contrary, Hyundai is as usual the closest to its claims.
      On second position, the Volkswagen Golf and Volkswagen Up get an excellent 90% of their claimed range.
      The Audi e-Tron remains by far the fastest charging vehicle of the test with reality matching the speed claims. And with a better-than-average 15% difference between claim and reality.

    I test drove one and loved it. The range is a little disappointing as I have a Zoe ZE40 and I am getting about 140 miles in the rubbish winter weather. Summer I get 180 plus. The 208 is way better to drive though and the interior is great.

    • @VolkerHett
      @VolkerHett 4 года назад

      From my (and many others) experience with LiIon batteries it's best practice to charge to 80% when storing. But don't forget the "parasitic" power consumption in a car. There are many little gadgets drawing electricity. Mostly 12V from the traditional lead acid battery but this will be charged from the traction battery. Two weeks won't be a problem, but for longer time I'd hook it up to a normal electricity outlet. It'll maintain it's charge this way and is ready to rock when you get it out again.

Who would buy a car when the tire is flat and in the workshop you are told that the gearbox have to be replaced with the tire because they work together ???!!!! Everything is vin coded so you cannot buy used parts and replaced. Battery last about 15 years and cost until yet 10.000 Euros! Government for example have ensured public charging prices are unlimited and instead of it being a quarter the cost per mile, I found on one trip the EV electricity cost more than fossil fuel in my Volvo 5-pot diesel V70. It would be much wiser to put a “UK” in the title. Or at least mention it somehow. In our country - there are NO governmental financial incentives whatsoever. Unless you count yearly tax, and free city-center parking (0.5-1€/hr). These are totally negligible. Here’s another kicker for people that want more info of what we are talking about here. This e-208 GT costs 36,000€, in our place the least expensive electric model (Active) is 31,622€. Got that? Okay, then we continue: same trim level, but petrol (Puretech 100 S&S EAT8) costs 17,000€. £30/100kWh would be £15 to completely fill the (50kWh) battery from empty. Official range is around 200 miles, so £15/200 miles, not £30/100 miles. You have to remember also that most EVs leave home fully charged from a domestic supply, so the first 200 miles would cost somewhere between £4 - £7. The 5 gallons of petrol to do the same 200 miles would cost about £30.

      @markparker5585 4 года назад +2

      gerokatseros ah ok, if you aren’t familiar with charging an electric car I understand how it may have been a little confusing in this example. Basically, batteries don’t charge in a linear way, but on a curve. At higher states of charge, charging becomes much slower, which is why you’ll normally find 0-80% times listed, rather than 0-100%, as the last 20% can take longer than the first 80%. She is saying that the Peugeot is able to utilise rapid chargers that can supply 100kW of power, and from 0-80% (0kWh-40kWh for the e208) it will take approximately 30 minutes. You are charged by the energy supplied in kWh, the power it is supplied at (in kW) is irrelevant. So, 40kWh at 30p/kWh would have been a £12 charging fee for the 30 minute charge.
